I am attempting to make an iPad app. I started out using the splitViewController app template, and realized that was a bit restrictive, so I've started moving everything over to a regular View-based app template. However, I'd still like to have a table on the left with a different view on the right. I have a NIB with a tableView on the left and a view on the right. The tableView is still in a separate class. Is there a way to load that view into the tableView of the NIB?
I'm trying code that looks like this:
rootViewController = [rootViewController initWithShow:assetOneID];
[rootViewController.tableView reloadData];
[htmlPage viewDidLoad];
htmlPage.myContent = rootViewController.tableView;
[htmlPage.myContent reloadData];
htmlPage is the main page with the table and the other view. myContent is its table. rootViewController is the class that I used for the table of items. When I try to run this(and I know there are items in rootViewController's table through using NSLog), nothing happens. The table just stays blank, even though it should have the title of the item in rootViewController.
I'm probably missing something obvious here, but I've tried many different things and none of them have worked.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Delegation sounds like a solution but, regarding the blank tableview - Have you set the delegate and data source for the tablview in IB or programmatically?

I am newbie for iPhone application. For storing data, I am following this tutorial.
I understand how to save data and retrieve the same.
What I am wanted to do is instead of another UITableViewController (first screen in storyboard, where we have list), I will drag a UITableView and show list of items there instead of showing in another screen.
Any idea/ suggestion how to get this done?
Any hints would be greatfull.
What I feel is, I would need to add UITableView. Add delegate and dataSource method on it and add a method where I will have all data shown in UITableView.
Edit 1
What I want is ONLY ONE SCREEN. In the link that I have provided, it is second screen.
That should work fine. But make sure you also have done a
[tableview reloadData];
after you've changed the data in your table view data source delegate.

Why you want to do this way?
UX will not be at best.

Even if you want to do, yes you need to set delegate and datasource methods.
I am using the StackScrollView iOS library in my iPad app. My master view initially consists of a table. When the user selects a cell, a View Controller is created and added to the stack as follows:
DualChartViewController *vc = [self.storyboard instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:#"DualChartPageVC"];
[vc setObj:newObj];
[((MasteriPadViewController *)[AppDelegate sharedDelegate].mainVC).stackScrollViewController addViewInSlider:vc invokeByController:self isStackStartView:FALSE];
This works as expected the first time a user selects a cell; however, the DualChart views are never removed, so in subsequent selections they simply pile up on top of each other (forcing the user to swipe each of them away multiple times).
How should I de-allocate these views properly so that there are never more than two subviews added to my StackScrollViewController (the table and the DualChartViewController)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
Figured it out.
Although my StackViewController object was removing my view controller from it's viewControllersStack array, it for some reason wasn't removing it from slideViews' subviews. I modified my didSelectCell method so that if it wasn't the first selection made, I would remove the last object from slideViews' subviews before adding the new view. Now it works perfectly!
I have two IBActions. In one action I am loading the UIWebview to display a PDF File from my bundle. On clicking the other button the whole UIWebView should get removed from superview.
I have tried using:
[webview removeFromSuperview];
and
webview.hidden=YES;
Neither of these are working. They are hiding my UIWebView for a second, but then it appears again.
Is is
I have created UIWEBVIEW programatically and added the UIWebvieWDelegate in the interface file. But when initializing the UIWebView I didnt set webview.delegate=self; Is it the problem?
have you connected Referencing Outlet to the class's #property in the Interface Builder?
If you don't do it, it would be the a possible reason why you cannot reach the UIWebView in your source code. for your sake, you should check the pointer of webview, if it is nil chronically, there is 100% you have not connected them each other.
I was trying to make a thing like this. The solution that worked for me was to add UIview object as subview to view with the frame of webview and bringing it to top.... When u want to make uiwebview visible, just remove that uiview object from superview.
OK, it seems old question, but also i can see there are almost thousand people have view it, and may have the same problem. so my answer for anyone my have the same issue in the future.
I just been doing something smiler and want to hide the web view when at a certain action.
I have tried the following
-(void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
process = [ProcessingData new];
[DetailView setHidden:YES];
DetailView.hidden = YES;
[DetailView removeFromSuperview];
self.DetailView = nil;
}
however it is still not working, as i have few labels in the WebView which are don't disappear when the view load, when I looked at the "StoryBoard" i notes that the labels are not subview of the
can u see the hierarchy of the libels under the WebView, they are subview of the main view, where they suppose to be same as the table view hierarchy
so in may case the WebView is hiding but the labels are not as they are not a part of the Webview.
how to sort this problem, if you really don't need web view use the normal one, otherwise you have to hide all the labels in that view. hope thats helpe
I don't know obj-c but still posting a solution that worked for me in swift. basically you have to use the main thread to remove the webview.
DispatchQueue.main.async {
print("\nremoving webview\n")
self.myWebView.stringByEvaluatingJavaScript(from: "document.body.innerHTML='';")
self.myWebView.removeFromSuperview()
}
Ive a project close to doing everything I need it to do. Its got a Main page which has four buttons that allow you to choose an option. Then a tableview page is launched from those options and displays a parsed XML feed from a website. You can then select one of the options in the table to see a detail view of the item, enquire about it, etc.
My problem is I need to add more elements to the TableViewController page, other than the tableview itself. I want a customized back button (not the navigation controller standard) plus some labels, images, etc.
In the TableViewController xib, the tableview itself fills the page. I cant resize it to add more elements above it. I can add a 'view' window seemingly above the tableview and put things in it. But it seems to add the view to the tableview. This means that when I scroll the table, the other elements like new back button, scroll away as part of the table.
So I'm led to wonder whether I need this page not to be a tableviewcontroller, but a viewcontroller, with a tableview inside it, as well as my other view with buttons, etc. Is that the right way to go? But if thats the case, then how do I instantiate the tableviewcontroller within code? Because my page will not be of that type anymore - it will be just a viewcontroller. But in code Im making a tableviewcontroller .. slightly scared by that route tbh.
Any illumination on this would be much appreciated, as various searches have left me none the wiser. Thanks.
To customize it, this is the way to go:
Change your class to be a view controller instead, which implements the TableViewDelegate and TableViewData Source protocols.
In the view didLoad of you controller, create the table view, set its delegate, data source, and any other properties you wish and add it as a subview to your view.
tableView = [[[UITableView alloc] init] autorelease];
tableView.delegate = self;
tableView.dataSource = self;
// .. Other customization
[self.view addSubview:tableView];
I suggest doing this programatically rather than IB.
Instead of a UITableViewController, you want a UIViewController that has an IBOutlet UITableView. Drag and drop a UITableView component from Storyboard and hook it up, and position it as needed on the screen. This UIViewController should implement the UITableViewDelegate and UITableViewDataSource methods.
Edit: Remember that a UITableViewController is just a subclass of UIViewController so you don't really have to get rid of all your code. :) You only need to make minor tweaks to your header and main file, and change the Storyboard to be a UIViewController instead of UITableViewController as I mentioned above.
I'm desperately trying to connect controls of NSViews which will reside in a NSCollectionView using outlets. The collection view is fed using an NSArrayController.
I created the NSView in a separate NIB file and in the implementation of NSCollectionViewItem I overwrote copyWithZone to load it:
-(id)copyWithZone:(NSZone *)zone
{
id result = [super copyWithZone:zone];
[NSBundle loadNibNamed:#"InputView" owner:result];
return result;
}
I've used this approach according to this instructions.
Unfortunately this is what happening:
The NSView looks like this:
The NSCollectionView resides in a NSScrollView and the scrollbar is set to enable automatically.
But as you can see there's no scrollbar.
I don't really understand what I need to do so the NSCollectionView knows the dimensions of its NSViews.
It has worked before when I didn't have a seperate NIB-file, but then I couldn't make outlet connections from the view to the item :-(
How many item are in the array controller? Your output looks correct for what you've described, assuming there are at least 14 things in the controller (1 view per item). The sizing is just off. It's not clear which problem you're trying to solve.
Perhaps you were looking for a grid, and so need to call setMaximumNumberOfColumns:? Or perhaps your views aren't being resized as you expect (check -maxItemSize and -minItemSize)?
