Search file system with Xcode Mac application - objective-c

my uncle challenged me to make an application in which you can search the file system of a Mac. I've never actually had to do this yet in my programming experience, but I think it would be good to know as well. I have a search field, and a button that says search. Does anybody know how I can make that search the file system, and display the results? Thanks in advance!

Eclipse Generic File Templates

I've seen this question in various guises around the place, but as yet haven't found a suitable answer. If this is a duplicate, appologies (I'd be surprised if it wasn't a duplicate!)
Basically, I have a project which is using (mostly) shell code and sql. I want to make sure all the files have a similar setup, and that I document things consistently. To this end, I want to have template files / skeleton code within Eclipse.
It seems easy enough with Java, but not other file types. I have checked out ShellEd and it didn't appear to have this feature (correct me if I'm wrong).
It would be great to be able to add this as a new file type, such that I can say File -> New -> sh/sql and have the correct basic template with the right header etc.
Also, if possible I would like to be able to, one click, add a function prototype with the correct documentation to my files...
I thought this would be easy enough, but a few days of Googling and messing about, it seems I need to write a plugin of my own... but I can't beleive that it's not possible, more likely my Google skills aren't up to scratch...
any help?
cheers
Rob
P.S I'm normally a Vi (not Vim) user, but have had Eclipse forced upon me!
For SQL the Data Tools Platform Extender SDK (DTP) Eclipse project contains a SQL editor with templates (under Database Development in Install New Software).

Link to change language of site

Does anyone know or recommend a method for a simple way to convert a site into a different language. I just need the site to change from spanish to english and vice versa, but the site will load in spanish first. Perhaps a plugin is available? Most of the content is dynamic and the site is being developed with Concrete5 CMS. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.
I think you need to install an add-on for this. Check out Internationalization, it's free: http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/internationalization/
Here is a YouTube video showing it in action, so you can quickly see if it's what you had in mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hd936iaDLqw&feature=player_embedded
You need some automatic translation tool (since you said your content is dynamic). There are many in internet, you just have to search for "Automatic translation API".
I recommend you using the Google Translate one.

Capture mac screen

What is the best way to record the mac screen with cocoa? I know there are many examples at the apple developer reference library. SonOfGrab explain how to capture the screen with quartz but also that it isn't enough fast to use it to grab many frames every second. OpenGLScreenSnapshot has same results but it isn't fast, too. OpenGLScreenCapture seems to be the best way to do it but XCode prompts me many errors because it's made for 10.4 and it requires old Quicktime commands I think they pushed into QTKit but I can't find a way to convert it. Could anyone send me to someone's site that converted the project or tell me if there are some other ways to do it. Thanks in advance.
OpenGL would be the way to go. You should still be able to use the OpenGLScreenCapture sample if your architecture is set to 32-bit. (QuickTime is not available in 64-bit.)

How to make a library for the webcam?

I'm learning Factor and I thought it would be great to have a small program to capture images from the webcam that comes with my mac pro. I know every webcam will be very different but sounds like something I should be able to do. I want to create a library with support for Mac, Linux and Windows. The problem is that I'm not sure where to start.
Factor-based answers are welcome but I'm looking for the language agnostic solutio. When I google for it, all I get is programs that capture images. I want to learn how to interact (in the 3 big operative systems) with the drivers I guess.
I think the only clue I have is the ioctl wiki page. How would you start such a project? What kind of google keywords would you use? Books?
It's not clear if you want to write a driver for your particular webcam or a library that makes talking to the existing driver easier.
If you want to write a driver for your webcam, you probably want to investigate libusb for Mac and Linux and libusb-win32 for Windows. You would need to understand the protocol that your webcam talks, though. You could probably read the source code for the existing Linux driver (assuming there is one, which is pretty likely).
As for Google search terms, you might try "video capture" and maybe looking for Python/Ruby etc. code or Open Source programs will get you code you can look at to see how to do what you want to do.
Perhaps if you describe in a little more details what you're trying to accomplish someone could give you better suggestions.

Create wmv-file from code?

I have a project where the requirements is that a end user will select a template, enter some information and then my program should create a wmv movie file that has the information entered encoded in the movie.
So from my perspective I would like to have a framework that allows me to add graphics and text to a movie. Something like this:
movie.addframes(framecount, templateimage)
movie.frame(x).drawtext(x,y,text,font,size,color)
movie.frame(x).drawRectangle(rect,color,bordersize)
movie.frame(x).drawImage(rect,borderstyle,bordersize, image,sizemode)
movie.save(filename,filetype)
Does this exists?
I have searched and only found information about ffmpeg that doesn't seem to do what I want.
I don't need it to be real-time encoding.
I don't care if the framework/library is expensive.
If there are information of how to do this with for example DirectX or DirectShow and pointing to real working vb.net examples, then ill be happy too. ;) (Believe me, I have tried to search and haven't found anything.)
I have not found any good information about how to use Windows Media Encoder for this, but It seems like Windows Media Encoder is the way to go if doing it myself..
you can use DirectShow, check Samples\Capture\CapWMV here
