Anyone have a WiX UI sequence for installing an ASP.Net Web site? Something that asks for a virtual dir, and app name similar to what the Visual Studio install projects do?
I've worked up an initial solution here.

I am trying to run a .Net Core 2.1 Website through IIS. I had to reinstall IIS recently and was getting the error when navigating to my website:
Handler "aspNetCore" has a bad module "AspNetCoreModule" in its module
list
So I downloaded and installed the Windows Hosting Bundle for the relevant version of .Net Core from here https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet/2.1
I then restarted IIS but I am getting the same error.
I noticed in the IIS Modules page for the ASP.Net Core Website I am trying to run, there is still no AspNetCoreModule listed. I take it it should be appearing here after installation of the bundle?
Any ideas what could prevent the installer adding this module?
This error can occur if the AspNetCoreModule is not installed properly in IIS on the computer that is running the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Server components. To resolve this issue, open Programs and Features in Control Panel and check whether Microsoft .NET Core Windows Server Hosting is installed. If it is installed, repair it from Programs and Features, by selecting it, choosing Change, and then choosing Repair.
I also noticed that the SDK downloaded in the link you provided has x64 and x86. please check if you had downloaded the correct version.
I have installed Visual Studio 2017 Community Edition. Installed it without any specific things selected like C++ development or Windows development etc. After that I have installed Wix through wixtoolset, which downloaded and installed wix tool set components. After that I have installed the Wix ToolSet extension for Visual Studio 2017. Restarted the Visual Studio and trying to create a new project through File -> New -> Project - WiX Toolset -> Setup Project.
It gives the error and does not let me create the project. I am totally new to WiX and have just a little knowledge about Visual Studio.
Initially, I did not select any of the Installation workloads for VS17 and installed it just to make the installation faster.
Through the comments from Azaz, I came to know that NuGet Package Manager is required to install the packages on demand. But since I could not see the NuGet option at all, I tried to install it with Extensions and updates but it did not work. I did a bit of research and found that at least one .Net development workload is required at a time of VS17 installation which will make the NuGet install automatically in VS17.
So I uninstalled the VS17, WiX at all and removed them from the system. Then Installed VS17 with certain workload packages as shown in the below screenshot.
After that I installed WiX and an extension for the same in VS17. i.e. Votive2017.vsix.
I restart the VS17 and now I am able to create project for WiX.
Looks like there is something I missed somewhere in installing which did not let me install required DLLs and GUID feature, which were important for creating project templates.
Sharing the steps I followed in order to fix the same issue that I found with Visual Studio 2019, as I also installed it without any workload. I was also looking at a reduced installation.
The steps I did in order to fix the template error, install the following individual components:
.NET 5.0 Runtime
.Net Core 3.1 Runtime
.NET SDK
C# and Visual Baisc Roslyn compilers
ClickOnce Publishing
Microsoft Visual Studio Installer Projects
Hope it helps someone else. I have to point out that the comments before helped me understand the issue. But, for example, I couldn't even open the NuGet command line.
There is a Solution (.net, c#) which has 2 projects inside.
a C# web project
a C# project - Windows service
Both of them will need a separate Wix installer. (Wix installer for the web app, and Wix installer for the Windows Service)
How should this be approached? We built the Web installer, using a new Wix Setup Project added to the Solution. Should we create a new Wix Setup Project for the Windows Service as well? Having 2 Wix Setup Projects in the same Solution? Or can this Wix Setup Project be re-used somehow?
Should we consider trying to create somehow an installer that has both of them (both applications) and the user who is in charge of installing would check one or both checkboxes during install?
"As far as I know, there is no option to have multiple installers in 1 project, so you need 2 projects, or, as you said, one with selectable features. I would probably used solution with multiple projects, if web project and service are not commonly installed together, because you can better control distribution of you software and installer is smaller."

I built an application in c#. I published it using the publish option in the visual studio 2010 IDE. I have not used anything fancy in it, its a simple app with a couple of table layout panels. But each time i install it somewhere the app is trying to download the full framework 4.0 in which ever machine i install it.This is very irritating especially since i have not done anything very fancy here. Kindly help me on this problem.
Also i am open to anyother build tools to package my application and install it easily anywhere.
You can edit which prerequisites are set to install when your application is installed by going to the projects properties, going to the publish tab and selecting "Prerequisites".
setup and deployment project template is missing in my installtion is there any alternate for that are please let me know the download link from msdn...
