I get intermittent errors in my log files
System.Web.HttpException
Message: The file '/Stylesheet.aspx' does not exist.
I dont have this file in my code base. This error seems to be caused by .net not by any user trying to directly access this file.
Any thoughts?
I might start by using WinGrep on my project, and see where that text shows up in my code. Once you find it you will probably know what to do to fix it.
Maybe some DLL or custom control you've lost track of is trying to load this whenever its parent is loaded?
You could use VS or a tool like SadMan Search to do a quick search of all text within all files in the code base to see where it's being referenced and find the "source".

The main.tex file in my project is the one to be opened in editor view in order to successfully compile the pdf-document. It has several child-files like e.g. content.tex where I write the actual thesis text.
Every time I want to compile the document in order to view the changes I have to change the editor-file to main.tex. Otherwise the process ends with errors.
I already tried the Ctrl+0 base file setting, but it did not show any changes.
The LaTeX project is based on a template provided by my university and though has to stay untouched in regards of the project structure itself (why so ever...).
I managed to do as I strived to. Don't know whether I'd just been too clumsy or if it relates to the problems I faced during the \input{...} integration, but if anyone wonders how to do so too:
It in fact has been the way I already tried - set the main-document to master-document.
Nevertheless I switched to use TexStudio meanwhile.
Thank you for your response #Gowachin
So I am currently unable to open a Form and get the following error:
System.ComponenetModel.Design.ExceptionCollection was thrown.
or:
The designer loader did not provide a root component and has not indicated why
Usually the way to solve this is to open another instance of Visual Studio with the same project, attach the debugger to the other Visual Studio and try to open the form.
However, that does not seem to be working. The debugger does not break when the error is hit, and attempting to 'Break All' at any other point does not show me the source code and just the screen saying:
Your app has entered a break state, but there is no code because all threads were executing external code (typically system or framework code).
Attempting to put break points also results in:
The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document
Am I missing a setting? Incorrect Setup?
I have been battling this for half a day and thoroughly search the interwebs with no luck thus far. My designer is also fairly complex and lengthy which means trial and error is an absolute last ditch option.
First attempt to resolve:
you may have tried it already. Right click the Solution in solution explorer, click "clean solution", this deletes all the compiled and temporary files associated with a solution.
Do a rebuild of the solution and try to debug again.
Second attept to resolve:
Start debugging, as soon as you've arrived at a breakpoint or used
Debug > Break All, use Debug > Windows > Modules. You'll see a list of all the assemblies that are loaded into the process. Locate the one you want to get debug info for. Right-click it and select Symbol Load Information. You'll get a dialog that lists all the directories where it looked for the .pdb file for the assembly. Verify that list against the actual .pdb location. Make sure it doesn't find an old one.
In normal projects, the assembly and its .pdb file should always have been copied by the IDE into the same folder as your .exe. The bin\Debug folder of your project. Make sure you remove one from the GAC if you've been playing with it.
third attept to resolve:
Disable the "Just My Code" option in the Debug/General settings.
there are might be other causes to your problem, i picked them from here. you may try other solution to try resolve your issues. Fixing "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document."
I am having a very strange situation over here.
I refered to the UWP samples and tried Custom Media transport controls sample. I ran it and it was working just fine, like its supposed to work. But then I tried and made my own project and I copied exactly everything which was in sample project not even name of file or folder was different. And then when I ran that project it gave me debugger unhandled exception and open App.ig.cs some file like this and when i continue it stop debugging. Below is the attached snapshot of that error. Any help is appreciated this is a really strange error for me as it makes no sense at all.
Note: I have tried to run it in both blend and visual studio
I solved it by simply ignoring the style of transport controls provided in the sample, for some reason that style was not able to verify some properties so I deleted that file and made my own style file, I copied the style of default media controls and edited them, it worked for me :)
I accidentally uploaded an image to "My resources" which had the same name as another image in my resources and since then VB is showing up over 100 errors, but I don't know what I can do to resolve it and restore the program?
It's a very large program that I have been working on for months and really don't want to have to restart!
I have looked online and even found posts on here, but it doesn't work.
I have deleted the repeating image name, in my resources, but still doesn't resolve it. Whenever I go onto "My Project" > "Resources" it comes up with "There is already another resource with the name "Back_button."
But I removed it?
This is the error that comes up for all of the images/items that were in my resources:
"Beach_Text" is not a member of 'Top_of_the_Class.My.Resources'.
I also have a warning:
The designer cannot process the code at line 74: Me.btnInstructions.Image = Global.Top_of_the_Class.My.Resources.Resources.Instructions_button
The code within the method 'InitializeComponent' is generated by the designer and should not be manually modified. Please remove any changes and try opening the designer again.
I hope this makes sense and I know others have asked similar questions, but I have tried them methods. I just want my program back :(
Many thanks.
I had the same problem. I didn't wanted to restart my whole program and also I didn't used version control. If I went to the resources tab there was an error saying: There is already another resource with the name "Donkey_Kong". I pressed on ctrl-shift-F and searched for Donkey_kong and deleted every posible resource and code with the name Donkey_Kong in it. After I did that the error dissapeared and it was solved.
I had a picture with the name Donkey_Kong and a sound file with the name Donkey_Kong. Changed the names and continued :)
I had the same problem ("There is already another resource with the name "Salary")
Removed two lines of codes with the same resource name and
I went to Project--->Properties of my project--> went to resources tab and DELETED all files/images... with the same name "Salary" and the problem was fixed (All my codes were still there)
Good Morning,
I'm working in a VB project (usually I work mostly on C#) and there is an issue at the compilation that I don't understand:
In my VB project I have a Windows Form (with its own Designer.vb and .resx) and a Resources file (with its Designer.vb), both have the same name, and it seems that it produce the following compilation error:
Error 13 The item "obj\Debug[projectName].[fileName].resources" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter. Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter.
I can't change the name of one of them as it's an internal design pattern (and it works in C# projects).
Doesn't VB accept such pattern ? If yes, are there any workaround possible ?
Or do I have something wrong in one of my project files ?
Regards
Edit: As my problem may not be very clear, here is the pattern I have to respect in this project :
This doesn't compile. In VB only as I'm using this pattern in C# projects without any issues.
You probably have a duplicated entry inside the form.designer. I ran across this problem once
Goto to your Solution Explorer, Select your project and click on the show all files icon at the top of the Solution Explorer. You should then be able to expand out your form.vb to see all the sub files. Look for a frmMain.Designer.vb and check it for a duplicate resource entry. If that doesn't work try cleaning your Solution
Extracted from here, check the link it may help:
VB.net designer error
Edit: I would delete the form. Save the code behind and create it with another name pasting the code.
Finally I found where the problem was:
It was an issue with namespaces, as VB generated in VisualStudio doesn't provide any namespace by default in WinForms, ones I gave a namespace to the form and the designer of the form, and gave a different namespace to the second resx (via it's properties/Custom Tool Namespace) it compile.
