i am usnig visual studio2003 and windows platform sdk2008. ihave to migrate from SQLDMO to SQLSMO in c++. do i need any header files for this to use sqlsmo in c++.
can any body help me in this regard.
Thanks in advance.
I don't think you can use SQL SMO from Visual Studio 2003 / .NET 1.1 - SQL SMO requires at least .NET 2.0.

I've a asp.net web application written in VB using Visual Studio 2013. Can I make it multiplatform using .net core? Should I get Visual Studio 2017 or can stay using 2013? thank you!
Right now ASP.NET Core not available for VB.NET.
Please see this forum:
At the present time there is no firm or set time for this feature.
It's planned and has been mentioned as being on the roadmap, but at
present it doesn't look like it can even be supported.
See readmap.
You can use C# or F#.
And you need VS 2017 (or VS Code) for .NET Core.
Is it possible to use VS 2015 Update3, but not recommended, because they changed json project to MSBuild.
UPDATE: With .NET Core 2 release, now it's possible to use VB.NET in .NET Core, but not yet in ASP.NET:

I'm a newbie to connect Oracle 10g using vb.net in MS Visual 2005. Please share me in coding.
You need to be more specific in your question because no one will write your project for you.
There are tons of resources on line to help you:
Using Oracle with VB.NET
If you're OK with being married to Oracle, a native driver is fastest. You tagged VS2005 so I assume you are deploying to .NET Framework 2.0. Our shop uses System.Data.OracleClient and it works fine (you will need the Oracle client installed on the target machine). This namespace, however, has been deprecated in the 4.0 framework release. The preferred way forward (which I've not tried yet) is either ODP.NET or another 3rd-party driver. This question details some of the alternatives.
I've used MS Visual Basic 2010 Express to build a very simple VB.Net Windows app. I need to check the code into our Team Foundation Server Source Control. Is there a TFS plug-in for VB Express? If not, do I need to check the code in manually?
You will have to do it manually as stated here .
Given my experience with TFS I would check the code in manually. Package it all up nicely and get one changeset for the lot.
TFS isn't supported in any of the express editions of Visual Studio. I'm not sure if TFS is integrated into Windows Explorer for manually updates and commits. Other with experience would need to comment.
Does anyone know if I can use SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 on mono?
I'm hoping they are written as managed assemblies and will work ok..does anyone have any experience?
All of the SQL Compact (except System.Data.SqlCe.dll obviously) are native libraries, so no they won't work under non-Windows platforms.
Pretty replacement for SQL CE is SQLite
SQLite ADO.NET Provider is portable and exists on Microsoft.NET and Mono
http://sqlite.phxsoftware.com
http://www.mono-project.com/SQLite
native components is exists for most major platforms and source code also available
(By 'on mono' I assume you mean running on Mono in Linux?)
No. I'm pretty sure none of the SQL Server versions are built on managed assemblies.
Anyone know a good code analysis service or tool for vb.net? Like the one for c# with visual studio 2008 team edition or style cop for c#
Update:
My bad ,I am only using the visual studio pro in my new work place,so I could not use the code analysis for visual studio 2008 team edition
I believe that Code Analysis works on VB.NET code as well.
I just tested it, and it does work.
FxCop seems reasonable.
Besides, you can use
NDepend http://www.ndepend.com
Gendarme from Mono. http://www.mono-project.com/docs/tools+libraries/tools/gendarme/
ReSharper http://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/
