I have an Access table containing a field with multiple dates (ex: 11/22/2022, 11/23/2022, 11/24/2022) that needs to be split into usable variables. The field could contain 1 to 40 dates, it's unknown at any given time.
I have been unable to find any examples of this being done, any links or ideas anyone might know of?
On your form, create a combo- or listbox. Name it, say, EventDate.
Set its RowSourceType property to ValueList.
Insert code like this in the OnCurrent event of the form:

This will list the dates with the option to select one.

Error popup after click ok on type mismatch
I am using a combo box to search for records and it is telling me I have a type mismatch. I have been unable to find where this mismatch would be. The combo box still performs the desired function of selecting all records based on their "region"
I am using an ID field which is selected using the combo box but I want to pull through a name as well so I have input an unbound textbox and used VBA on change in the ID to update the name to the corresponding ID in the unbound textbox

I'm aware this code could be very wrong but I could not find anywhere else that showed me how to do what I was trying to do. Any suggestions on how to actually do it would be appreciated. If I have not been as detailed as needed or yo have any questions please ask.

The form is not being used to save data. It is only being used to display data and issue an output to a report.
Code is not just wrong, it is nonsense. Cannot reference a table object like that. And that Where usage is not valid. One way to pull value from a table is with DLookup domain aggregate function. Advise use AfterUpdate instead of Change event.

Might want to correct textbox name from txtSupplerName to txtSupplierName.

I have been having a quite annoying issue on my access project.
It is an Access 2007 - 2016 file.
My database has two queries that I intend to use to filter data to feed combo-boxes.
On one of my forms I have done that with success. The first list is fed from a table, and the succeeding ones are fed by filtering their respective table based on the previous list selection.

The code above works just fine. It filters data to previous selection accordingly and it also clears the data and selection of the "righter" lists every time another value is selected on the "lefter" ones.
So that was a form I created to help me out on populating my equipment database.
Let us get to the problematic twin now:
I created another form for Maintenance Orders of these equipment.
This one must be more user friendly since other people will use it. Therefore I used Combo-boxes for value selection instead of List Boxes. I say this before hand because it is the only thing I could notice that differs the new form from the one above.

It is basically the very same thing I have done on the first form but with different variables.
But I get a "Run-time error 3021: No current record" every time I select a value on my "Setor" field.
The crash happens at the "DoCmd.Requery (qry04_frm02CBArea)" line.
Here is the query for this form's Area field (qry04_frm02CBArea):
SELECT tblAreas.ID_Area, tblAreas.NomeArea
FROM tblAreas
WHERE (((tblAreas.SetorArea)=[Forms]![frm02_SubmitOM]![frm02SetorOM]));
But the thing that is confusing me the most is that when I click "End" on the Run-time error dialog box, my Area combo-box - that was empty before - even with the error gets the proper options like if it actually "requeried".
How can I fix this issue?

Btw, this is my first Access project so please consider that on the response.
In my Access database, I have tables with the naming convention of "t_customers" or "t_orders". I have a combo box which lets me pick from these options. For a better look, I want to have the options in the combo box without the "t_", so one of the options is just "customers". Then in VBA, I can access the combo box's value of "customers" and then pass that as a parameter to my function which will export the contents of the associated table "t_customers" to an excel file.
Is this possible to do? I can think of using a select case statement and for each combo box value I manually assign the related table value, but there has to be a better way. Is there some sort of short cut that does this in Access using a relationship or similar feature without coding? Or is there a simpler way to code this?

I am also trying to get the value of the current item selected in my combo box named "cbTable". I have no macros attached to the combo box. I have a button that when pressed it runs a macro which calls my VBA function. In the function I have this code:

You can set your RowSource for your combobox to
SELECT MSysObjects.Name, Replace(MSysObjects.Name,"t_","") AS Expr1
FROM MSysObjects
WHERE (((MSysObjects.Type)=1) AND ((MSysObjects.Flags)=0));
Then set the Column Count to 2, the Column Widths to 0;2 (the second number just needs to be any positive number) an the Bound Column to 1.
Now when you go to call your function the value of the combobox will be the real name of the table, t-customers, but what you saw on your form was customers.
As for accessing that combobox a few things need to be in place.
Let's say you have a form, Form1, and your combobox, cbTable, is on that form.
So when your form runs it looks like this
Now let's say you have an OnChange even for that combobox
Notice that when you type cbTable it appears in the intellisense (ctrl+space). This tells you that your object is accessible at this scope.
Now if you were in another module where that variable is out of scope you would get this error when you try to compile.
Because Module1 has no idea what cbTable is. However, you can reference anything so long as it's fully qualified. So if we run this test with your form open, and "orders" selected all 3 of these lines are equivalent
Forms("Form1").cbTable
Form_Form1!cbTable
Forms("Form1").Controls("cbTable")
Notice at the top of all my modules it says Option Explicit. This forces your code to basically be checked for syntax/scope validity before you run it. Tools > Options
I have a lookup listbox which is programmed to allow the user to find a specific record/help topic from the list and view it. Now when the list box is used the where clause locks in the record and the first, previous, next, last buttons freeze up and you cannot use them to go to a record. Is there a way to free up the functionality of the buttons to navigate through the records along with the where clause to select.
Here is the code that operates the listbox selections:

I believe since the where clause locks in the selection in the box it does not allow navigation from other controls to interfere. What might be a way around this?
You get the runtime error:
You can't go to specified record.
It appears not to be reading the other record in the source table named Help once it updates using the listbox.
Instead of changing the recordset (this is the 'pool' of records which the form could display), you just need to go to the record the user selects from the listbox.
Method 1 (probably the easiest way if your listbox is in the same order as the records of your form)
Use this code:

You need to ensure that:
The recordset of the form is ordered the same as the listbox. So, for example, you could order both by ID, or by Title.
Note that the +1 comes from the fact that the ListIndex starts at 0, whereas the record indexes start at 1.
Method 2
Ensure each record's Title is unique (set No Duplicates on this field).
Change your listbox to return the Title of the record, rather than it's ID.
Then use this:

Things to note:
It works by searching the field with focus for the string specified. That's why we have to SetFocus on the Title textbox on our form.
We could use ID instead, (which would mean we could have duplicate titles if we wanted), but then we would have to have an ID control on the form to SetFocus to. You can't hide this control either, because it needs to have focus whilst using FindRecord.
Update: Method 1 with reverse-selection
Add an Event Procedure in the Form_Current event, with this code. Then update the code in the lstSelect_AfterUpdate procedure as shown after.

Explanation of new lines:
The Form_Current event fires every time we go to a new record. We need to look at the index of the record (ie. the position of it in the recordset), which we get by using Form.CurrentRecord. We then want to make the listbox select that record. However, we can't use me.lstSelect.ListIndex as before, because that is a read-only property (we can access it to read it, but we can't set it).
Therefore, we use me.lstSelect.Column(colNum,rowNum) instead, where we specify a column number and a row number. If your listbox has two columns (eg. ID and Title), we want to choose the second column. The index starts at 0, so we would use a value of 1. If, like my lstSelect, you only have one column (Title) then we use 0. Note: it doesn't matter if a column is hidden (ie. has width 0). It still 'counts'.
The row number is Form.CurrentRecord - 1. Remember that the forms recordset index starts at 1, but the index of our listbox starts at 0; hence the - 1.
So why do we need a duplicate of this new row in the AfterUpdate event? Try and comment it out to see what happens if we don't put it in. It's has to do with the Form_Current event firing after we use the listbox.
I fixed this issue with a union clause in the SQL lookup code. The UNION ALL clause and the following union on the table used in the other part had allowed all the records to be used.

this code gets all the characters in a single account by displaying it in a listbox.
Now i would like to reference a character from the lisbox but not sure how
Any method such as Listbox.Get to get the value and compare it with something else?

To read the data from the listbox I think there are multiple ways (Assuming that it is readable).
-> Usually listbox display strings, so it should work to read to a string variable

also you may like to add a small check before, assuring that an Item is currently selected:
If lstbxCharacters.SelectedIndex < 0 then return
This jumps out of current sub if no item is selected
And finally, to read the first entry, you can also do it this way:
a_string = lstbxCharacters.Items(0)
if it returns objects, then instead of accessing the object directly, it may work to do
a_string = lstbxCharacters.Items(0).ToString
(most objects allow a .ToString() Function )
Here two ideas for different solutions:
As a user commented, you could access the DataSource directly + the information which listIndex was selected. But if you do so, then maybe it is more easy (if you need to access it anyways, to go with solution 2)
Create a variable of type list(Of some_object) and fill it with the data from the datasource. It will take some time to do this, but if you define for the class some_object a function ToString, then you can fill all objects directly to the lstbxCharacters, and access them without any worries, by doing CType(lstbxCharacters.SelectedItem, some_object)

If with reference you mean to access further information from the datasource, then you need to build some kind of query, or set the content of the listbox in relation to another control that shows the database content (in that way the listbox lstbxCharacters would act like a filter)
