I would like to find out if it is possible to configure the React Native Fast Refresh to only reload the current page in case imported files are modified. I'm working on an app that has many sequential pages and when the Fast Refresh reloads the entire app, I have to navigate many page to get back to the page I'm working on.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
call the reload method to tell the browser to reload the current page:
window.location.reload(false);
This method takes an optional parameter which by default is set to false. If set to true, the browser will do a complete page refresh from the server and not from the cached version of the page.
As React uses JavaScript at its core, therefore you can use vanilla JavaScript whenever and however you want.
location.reload method inside of a React component:
import React from 'react';
function App() {
function refreshPage() {
window.location.reload(false);
}
return (
<div>
<button onClick={refreshPage}>Click to reload!</button>
</div>
);
}
export default App;

After using Linking.getInitialURL() the URL stay there.
I am using react-native-router-flux to navigate.
when users log out I run
import { NativeModules } from 'react-native';
NativeModules.DevSettings.reload()
What happens is the react-navigation do Linking.getInitialURL()
and if there any result so it navigates automatically to the page.
how to reset Linking.getInitialURL() after use ?
happens only on android
React Navigation 5 provides an option to specify a custom getInitialURL method which you can use:
<NavigationContainer
linking={{
// ... linking config
getInitialURL() {
return YourCustomModule.getInitialURL();
},
}}
>
{/* content */}
</NavigationContainer>
https://reactnavigation.org/docs/navigation-container/#linkinggetinitialurl
For the implementation, since you're reloading the whole JS, the code cannot be in JS as the state is lost on reload. You'll need to write a custom native module where you can clear the initial URL when reloading.
We have a nuxt.js application which retrieves data from strapi. this works for all the other pages that we've created, but when we try to retrieve data for the <Footer /> it appears that the code is not executing.
This is the code that we use for retrieving on the index page:
export default {
async asyncData({ $strapi }) {
return {
homepage: await $strapi.find("homepage"),
};
},
}
All we change from page to page is the variable name and the value its finding.
This works on 10 - 12 pages.
On main pages we are able to retrieve the data of the footer with this code:
export default {
async asyncData({ $strapi }) {
return {
footer: await $strapi.find("footer")
};
},
}
However when we put this code in our footer component it doesn't appear to execute, as no variable was shown in the view explorer, and if we try an render anything form the {{footer}} then we get an error saying we've referenced something that doesn't exist.
Is there any reason why this code isn't executing in the footer component?
The asyncData hook can only be used on page components. The official documentation explains how you can work around this issue:
asyncData is only available for pages and you don't have access to this inside the hook.
Use the new fetch hook that is available in Nuxt 2.12 and later versions.
Make the API call in the mounted hook and set data properties when loaded. Downside: Won't work for server side rendering.
Make the API call in the asyncData method of the page component and pass the data as props to the sub components. Server rendering will work fine. Downside: the asyncData of the page might be less readable because it's loading the data for other components.
I pretty new to vuejs and am building a vuejs project. One of the tasks I am stuck at is, that I want to call a function written in the javascript part of vuejs from the html part of vuejs without creating any buttons or textboxes. I want to call this function as soon as my app starts. How do I achieve this? When I use mounted (vue lifecycle hook), the page it redirects to keeps refreshing. would appreciate some leads on this.
For example, I have a code:
<template>
<h1>Hello World!</h1>
<!--I WANT TO CALL THE auth0login function here. How do I do that without creating a button/text field,etc -->
</template>
<script>
export default {
data: () => ({
return : {
clientID: process.env.example
}
}),
methods:{
auth0login(){
console.log('logging in via Auth0!');
Store.dispatch('login');
}
}
}
</script>
I want to call the auth0login function defined in the script part in the html part above in order to execute the functionalities of the auth0login function. I want to do this without creating any buttons in the html file and simply just execute the auth0login function when the app launches.
How do I do this?
You need to call auth0login() only when you're not already logged I guess.
I think the reason is after user already logged in, they go back to the initial page, and the function in mounted() hook run again. Thats why they keep get redirect to login page. This not happen when you insert the button, because the button require user to click at it.
To fix this, you need to define a vuex state to store whether user has logged in or not, and in mounted() hook, just called it when they not login yet.
So. Instead of
mounted: function() { console.log('logging in via Auth0!'); this.auth0login() } }
Add a check login state
mounted() {
if(!this.$store.state.userLoggin) // here i define userLoggin and vuex state, you should update it to true whenever user successfully login
{ console.log('logging in via Auth0!'); this.auth0login() //only call it when user not loggin
}
}
And remember to update your vuex state.userLoggin when user successfully login in the auth0login() function
I have Navigation component in my nuxt application and it use window object and I know it has problem with SSR.
I have imported this component in default layout. But I commented this component in default.vue layout, but still gives error and freezing!
error message:
window is not defined
I'm confused.
Try it with this:
if (process.client) {
// put your code that should be executed on the client side here
}
I have home.js and header.js in React.
When using this code, Information will not be erased until the simulator is refreshed
I want to clear the home page async data that state updated when navigate to home but when go to home AsyncStorage have the value
:
AsyncStorage.removeItem('mobileNumber');
this.props.navigation.navigate('Home');
Can anyone please assist me to correct this code?
