Edit2: I found out the answer to this, you might also miss this one out if you're just starting on vuetify, or that you just directly dive into it and integrate it into an existing project without reading its documentation like me 😎. Vuetify won't work if it's not inside the application tag or <v-app> tag. So make sure if you're using a layout, that you wrap your code inside the v-app tag, the stylings may apply, but the functionalities won't work if you did not wrap using the application tag.
Original Question:
I can't seem to be able to make the the v-autocomplete work in any of my project, I tried it in 2 different projects, one installed using npm, and the other installed using the nuxt-create. I even copied the code from their demo on their website, but that didn't work too. These are the package version for each project:
"dependencies": {
"#nuxtjs/axios": "^5.13.6",
"core-js": "^3.15.1",
"nuxt": "^2.15.7",
"vuetify": "^2.5.5"
},
and
"devDependencies": {
"#nuxtjs/vuetify": "^1.12.1",
"#vue/test-utils": "^1.0.0-beta.27",
"babel-jest": "^24.1.0",
"jest": "^24.1.0",
"nodemon": "^1.18.9",
"vue-jest": "^4.0.0-0"
}
I can see the v-menu and the list in my array when I inspect element but it has a default style of display: none;, and because of that, even if I clicked or start typing, the array of supposed autocompletes wouldn't show.
So my question would be, how do I make it to work like how it's supposed to work in the demo on their website?
Edit1: I found out a little quirk about this, It would now work, but only on pages with default layout. So when I set a custom layout, like this one, layout: 'sidebar-layout', on the /device page, the v-autocomplete's dropdown would never open, unless I set the div class v-menu using element inspector in my browser. I haven't yet found out what's causing this, could either be in the layout or the component called into it.
You maybe forgot to add the script part?
The following code as in the example in the docs, totally works on my side
<template>
<v-card>
<v-container fluid>
<v-row
align="center"
>
<v-col cols="12">
<v-autocomplete
v-model="values"
:items="items"
outlined
dense
chips
small-chips
label="Outlined"
multiple
></v-autocomplete>
</v-col>
<v-col cols="12">
<v-autocomplete
v-model="values"
:items="items"
dense
chips
small-chips
label="Solo"
multiple
solo
></v-autocomplete>
</v-col>
<v-col cols="12">
<v-autocomplete
v-model="value"
:items="items"
dense
filled
label="Filled"
></v-autocomplete>
</v-col>
</v-row>
</v-container>
</v-card>
</template>
<script>
export default {
data: () => ({
items: ['foo', 'bar', 'fizz', 'buzz'],
values: ['foo', 'bar'],
value: null,
}),
}
</script>
Here is a working github link if you need a confirmation.
yarn && yarn dev and everything should work fine.
I don't know if this is silly or not, but the fix for this was to make sure that your code inside your layout.vue file is wrapped inside a <v-app> tag.
So this was the layout that was causing the issue:
<template>
<div class="main__container">
<div class="sidebar__container">
<Sidebar />
</div>
<div class="main__content">
<Nuxt />
</div>
</div>
</template>
After comparing to the vuetify's default layout, that one had all of it's code wrapped inside a <v-app> tag, (which I clearly missed, since I just started using vuetify and immediately used it on an existing project). So after wrapping my layout with <v-app> it now worked:
<template>
<v-app>
<div class="main__container">
<div class="sidebar__container">
<Sidebar />
</div>
<div class="main__content">
<Nuxt />
</div>
</div>
</v-app>
</template>
Thanks for the answers.

Unfortunately Vuetify does not yet support Vue 3.
The current version of Vuetify does not support Vue 3. Support for Vue 3 will come with the release of Vuetify v3. When creating a new project, please ensure you selected Vue 2 from the Vue CLI prompts, or that you are installing to an existing Vue 2 project.
You'll need to downgrade your Vue version or choose a different component library. Quasar is a great alternative to Vuetify with lots of the same components and features.
I'm trying to create a group of selectable items using Vuetify.
Nevertheless, it is not working because inside the template I'm using a Vue.component called fm-card.
When you use a Vue.component you have to use #click.native instead of #click.
<v-item-group active-class="primary">
<v-container>
<v-row justify="center">
<v-col
class="fm-card-container"
cols="2"
v-for="item in items"
v-bind:key="item.id"
>
<v-item v-slot="{ active, toggle }">
<fm-card
#click.native="toggle;"
class="fm-card d-flex align-center"
:title="item.name"
:image="productImage(item.image)"
:imageHeight="95"
dark
height="200"
:color="active ? 'primary' : ''"
>
{{`hola soy el ${toggle}`}}
<v-scroll-y-transition>
<div v-if="active" class="text-h2 flex-grow-1 text-center">
Active
</div>
</v-scroll-y-transition>
</fm-card>
</v-item>
</v-col>
</v-row>
</v-container>
</v-item-group>
I have tried to use #click and #click.native but it seems that nothing is happening
First of all why don't you put your <fm-card> as an "real" component and reference it in your parent and pass all of your values you are using in there with it?
Like this
<fm-card :value1="value1" :value2="value2"/>
than you can put your complete code in this component - it's making your code much more clearer.
And than I think you don't need to use #click.native any more... #click should be enough, but than check that you have a semicolon after your toggle; - you have to delete this!
Than you can go to your methods and work with your click event like this:
methods: {
toggle() {
//your code in here
}
}
Hopefully this helps you out! Pls let me know!
I use Vuetify in my webapplication. The whole webapplication is responsive.
I have the problem that on smaller screens (Smartphone, Pad) I can zoom out of the website which means that I have a white space on the right of my website.
I don't know how this can happen and it is in every single page of my web application like that. What can I do that I use from beginning the whole space and the user can not zoom out from the website and gets this white space on the left?
Below a short example:
<template>
<v-app>
<v-main>
<v-container>
<v-row justify="center" align="center">
<v-col cols="12" xs="10" sm="10" md="10" lg="10" xl="10">
TEST_COL
</v-col>
</v-row>
</v-container>
</v-main>
</v-app>
</template>
<script>
export default {
data: () => ({
}),
}
</script>
<style>
</style>
Maybe the problem is in the App.vue file but I don't see any problem there. To be sure I post the app.vue below:
<template>
<v-app>
<Navbar />
<v-main>
<router-view></router-view>
</v-main>
<Footer />
</v-app>
</template>
I put two screenshots below so you see what i mean.
Thanks!
Chris
I got the answer. I used the <v-navigation-drawer> provided by Vuetify to create a drawer object. I used the following options:
<v-navigation-drawer v-model="drawer" absolute temporary right>
But absolute means it "Applies position: absolute to the component." which means that it takes extra space in the website. The option must be "fixed" instead of "absolute" then it works.
The good settings are:
<v-navigation-drawer v-model="drawer" fixed temporary right>
Now the drawer opens on the right side of the website (better for smartphones) and it doesn't take any absolute space!!
I'm having a variety of CSS issues with Vuetify that I'm hoping someone can help me resolve. I'm using a split panel view (vue-split-panel) with Vuetify, but Vuetify doesn't seem to consistently recognize when to trigger the full-column width, as shown below. I'm able to "trigger" the full column width (for the same split panel width) by just opening and then closing the Chrome js console.
I put this into a codesandbox so that it's reproducible. In doing so, I see a new issue that the radio buttons aren't showing.
https://codesandbox.io/s/split-view-test-7mlx1
If you're able to show me how to tweak the sandbox to make the responsivity work I'd so appreciate it!
Supposed to be a radio button:
Also, an issue that I can't reproduce in the codesandbox but I'm experiencing in my app (it's a JupyterLab extension) is shown in the bottom screenshot: the select label has the border line going through it. I tried to find if there is a CSS conflict somewhere but didn't know exactly where to look.
Furthermore I also have an issue that the select menu is offset proportional to the left menu, for some reason... why does opening the left and top menus effect the position? How can I fix it? I've tried using the "attach" property and adding an id to the element itself, or creating a parent div, but neither seems to solve it.
This is ~slightly reproducible in the sandbox by making the split panel wide and clicking the multi-select, then making it narrower and clicking again. You'll see that the menu is offset when it opens.
Solutions that don't involve iFrames would be preferred, and yes, I do have my app wrapped with <v-app>, however since it's a JupyterLab extension I only have access to the main tab space (not the left or top menus) so the v-app is wrapped around the HTML element which is the main tab area, not the full screen.
I think there might be a bug in the Vuetify code somewhere around this function: https://github.com/vuetifyjs/vuetify/blob/054555a42e2ef368df2d6e168d1eec7fc06fb12c/packages/vuetify/src/components/VSelect/VSelect.ts#L456
I have resolved all the CSS issues
Refactotred the grid layout by adding the proper components and breakdowns in UI. Added a fix to radio buttons. Added the css dependencies, material icons dependencies, fonts which vuetify uses internally

I want to use autocomplete from Vuetify and I am facing issues there because on my website I have one of the outer divs position: relative the dropdown part of the autocompelete, which is position: absolute, is attaching itself not to the bottom of the input but in random place.
Autocomplete has a prop attach which Specifies which DOM element that this component should detach to. Use either a CSS selector string or an object reference to the element. so I thought I use that and set it to class of my input.
And this works but it causes warning in the console
[Vuetify] Unable to locate target v-autocomplete
found in
---> <VMenu>
<VAutocomplete>
<VCard>
<VApp>
<Root>
Here the link where I reproduced the console warning.
If you are not using v-app component in App.vue, make sure to add data-app attribute to the div with the id app in App.vue.
The result will be like the following:
<template>
<div id="app" data-app>
.... All components, routers, views here ...
</div>
</template>
This worked for me:
<div id="app">
<v-app id="inspire">
<v-card>
<v-card-title class="headline font-weight-regular blue-grey white--text">Profile</v-card-title>
<v-card-text>
<v-subheader class="pa-0">Where do you live?</v-subheader>
<v-autocomplete
v-model="model"
:hint="!isEditing ? 'Click the icon to edit' : 'Click the icon to save'"
:items="states"
:readonly="!isEditing"
:label="`State — ${isEditing ? 'Editable' : 'Readonly'}`"
persistent-hint
prepend-icon="mdi-city"
:attach="'#attach'"
>
<template v-slot:append-outer>
<div id="attach"></div>
<v-slide-x-reverse-transition
mode="out-in"
>
<v-icon
:key="`icon-${isEditing}`"
:color="isEditing ? 'success' : 'info'"
#click="isEditing = !isEditing"
v-text="isEditing ? 'mdi-check-outline' : 'mdi-circle-edit-outline'"
></v-icon>
</v-slide-x-reverse-transition>
</template>
</v-autocomplete>
</v-card-text>
</v-card>
</v-app>
</div>
