I want to set 2 parameters to set_params, like this:
lo_newfal->set_params( ls_nbew-einri, ls_nbew-falnr)
Is it possible?

No, this is not possible in ABAP. If you have more than one arguments, they have to be named explicitly:
lo_newfal->set_params( imp_param1 = ls_nbew-einri
imp_param2 = ls_nbew-falnr ).
This also means, you can call the arguments in any order:
lo_newfal->set_params( imp_param2 = ls_nbew-falnr
imp_param1 = ls_nbew-einri ).
However if there is one argument only in the method definition, it can be called without explicitly naming the argument:
lo_newfal->set_params( ls_nbew-einri ).

To quote the documentation:
meth( a ).
This is the short form of:
meth( EXPORTING p = a ).
The method meth can have the following parameters:
Either exactly one non-optional input parameter p and any number of optional input parameters
Or only optional input parameters from which p is defined as a preferred parameter using PREFERRED PARAMETER
So no, the shorthand method call where the target parameter is not specified can only be used when only one parameter can unambiguously be identified.
If multiple parameters are present, the alternative 3 needs to be used where all the parameters are explicitly named:
meth( p1 = a1 p2 = a2 ... ).
This is the short form of:
meth( EXPORTING p1 = a1 p2 = a2 ... ).
The same applies if IMPORTING or CHANGING parameters are present.
Compared to other languages, ABAP rather has named parameters than positional parameters. That has a clear advantage that one cannot by accident mix up the order of arguments (especially as ABAP does a lot of typecasting implicitly) and makes optional parameters way easier to handle.

SQL ''Field" = {variable}' Select by attribute arcpy

I am trying to run a select by attribute where I select all points where "Id" field matches the numeric variable point_id. point_id = 375.
I've tried a few quotation styles and using curly brackets to call my variable. I'm not the most familiar with SQL queries and get an error saying the positional argument follows the keyword string. I have also tried storing my SQL as a variable on it's own called a whereClause and get the same error.

The is a Python issue, not related to ArcGIS or SQL.
You are trying to pass three arguments. For the first two arguments you're using keyword argument (explicitly specifying the argument name: in_layer_or_view = deer), but for the third one you're using positional argument (letting python assign the value to the appropriate argument based on the order of the arguments).
The execption you're getting is telling you that you can't mix the two types this way. Once you started using keyword arguments in the function call, all of the next argument must be passed with their explicit name too.
To fix this, you can use positional argument for all of the arguments (i.e. not specifing argument names at all), or alternatively keep specifing the names for all of the rest of the arguments.
In your case, this should work:
arcpy.management.SelectLayerByAttribute(in_layer_or_view=deer,
selection_type="NEW_SELECTION",
where_clause=f'"Id"={point_id}')
or alternatively:
arcpy.management.SelectLayerByAttribute(deer,

Single-line method calls with untyped parameters

Can I define an ABAP method where the RETURNING parameter and any IMPORTING parameters have a generic type but that can still be called in a single line as a functional method?
In other words I'd like to replace this:
CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT'
EXPORTING
input = lv_external_value
IMPORTING
output = lv_internal_value.
With:
lv_internal_value= zcl_conversion=>alpha_input( lv_external_value ).
Unfortunately the fact that Class Methods can't have an untyped returning parameter is preventing me from declaring the functional method's return value as type ANY or CLIKE. The accepted standard of creating generic method parameters seems to be to define them as TYPE REF TO DATA and dereference/assign them. But as far as I know that prevents me from calling the method in a single statement as I have to first assign the importing parameter and then dereference the returning parameter, resulting in the same or more lines of code than a simple FM call.
Is there a way around this?
Unfortunately, there is no other way to dereference data than to use the dereference operator, either in the form ->* for the full value segment, or in the form ->comp, if the data object is structured and has a component named comp (and, even worse, there are a lot of places in ABAP code where you would like to use a value from a derefenced data object but can't do it for internal reasons / syntax restrictions).
However, you could simply keep the data reference object retrieved by your method in a variable of the calling code and work with that variable (instead of using a field symbol or a variable for the derefenced value segment itself). Either generically, as a ref to data variable, or typed, using the CAST operator (new ABAP syntax).
Most things that can be done with a field-symbol, can also be done directly with a data reference as well.
Example: Working with a variable result of the expected return type:
data(result) = cast t000( cl=>m( ) ).

On ABAP NW Stack 7.4 you could just use parameters type STRING and then use the new CONV Operator to convert your actual input in string. Little ugly but should work.

Objective-c Ensure that var-arg parameters are of the correct type and count

In objective-c how do you ensure that if you have a function that takes variable parameters that the format specifiers align with the actual parameters that are passed to the functoin?
This is done through the use of the NS_FORMAT_FUNCTION macro.
Let's say that you have a function like this:
LOG(int level,NSString *format,...);
The level is the log level while the format contains the format string and the variable arguments are the parameters to the format string.
In order to ensure at compile time that the count and type of the parameters is correct one defines the function as this:
LOG(int level,NSString *format,...) NS_FORMAT_FUNCTION(2,3);
Note that the 2 and 3 here refer to the position in the arguments list of the format string and the start of the variable parameter list.
C doesnt check either by default.

with LLVM both the number and the type of parameters can be checked(enforced) via the CF macro NS_FORMAT_FUNCTION

Function/variable scope (pass by value or reference?)

I'm completely confused by Lua's variable scoping and function argument passing (value or reference).
See the code below:

You guessed right, table variables are passed by reference. Citing Lua 5.1 Reference Manual:
There are eight basic types in Lua: nil, boolean, number, string, function, userdata, thread, and table.
....
Tables, functions, threads, and (full) userdata values are objects: variables do not actually contain these values, only references to them. Assignment, parameter passing, and function returns always manipulate references to such values; these operations do not imply any kind of copy.
So nil, booleans, numbers and strings are passed by value. This exactly explains the behavior you observe.
Lua's function, table, userdata and thread (coroutine) types are passed by reference. The other types are passed by value. Or as some people like to put it; all types are passed by value, but function, table, userdata and thread are reference types.
string is also a kind of reference type, but is immutable, interned and copy-on-write - it behaves like a value type, but with better performance.
Here's what's happening:
local a = 9
local t = {4,6}
function moda(a)
a = 10 -- sets 'a', which is a local introduced in the parameter list

t[1] = 7 -- modifies the table referred to by the local 't' introduced in the parameter list

jA_cOp is correct when he says "all types are passed by value, but function, table, userdata and thread are reference types."
The difference between this and "tables are passed by reference" is important.
In this case it makes no difference,

end
Result: both "pass table by reference" and "pass table by value, but table is a reference type" will do the same: x now has its foo field set to "bar".
But for this function it makes a world of difference
function modt_2(x)
x = {}
end
In this case pass by reference will result in the argument getting changed to the empty table. However in the "pass by value, but its a reference type", a new table will locally be bound to x, and the argument will remain unchanged. If you try this in lua you will find that it is the second (values are references) that occurs.
I won't repeat what has already been said on Bas Bossink and jA_cOp's answers about reference types, but:

This is incorrect. Variables in Lua are lexically scoped, meaning they are defined in a block of code and all its nested blocks.
What local does is create a new variable that is limited to the block where the statement is, a block being either the body of a function, a "level of indentation" or a file.
This means whenever you make a reference to a variable, Lua will "scan upwards" until it finds a block of code in which that variable is declared local, defaulting to global scope if there is no such declaration.
In this case, a and t are being declared local but the declaration is in global scope, so a and t are global; or at most, they are local to the current file.
They are then not being redeclared local inside the functions, but they are declared as parameters, which has the same effect. Had they not been function parameters, any reference inside the function bodies would still refer to the variables outside.

It isn't. It might appear that way because you have a global variable called t and pass it to a function with an argument called t, but the two ts are different. If you rename the argument to something else, e,g, q the output will be exactly the same. modt(t) is able to modify the global variable t only because you are passing it by reference. If you call modt({}), for example, the global t will be unaffected.
Why is modt able to modify the table yet moda is not able to modify the a variable?
Because arguments are local. Naming your argument a is similar to declaring a local variable with local a except obviously the argument receives the passed-in value and a regular local variable does not. If your argument was called z (or was not present at all) then moda would indeed modify the global a.

What is the definition of ":=" in vb

I came across some sample code in VB.Net which I have some experience with and kinda having a duh moment figuring out the meaning of :=.

The sig for this method is RefreshNavigationImages(boolean, int). Is this a default value if null? Like "bIsSomething ?? false"?

They are named parameters. They let you specify values for arguments in function calls by name rather than order.
The := indicates the use of named parameters. Rather than relying on the order of the parameters in the method declaration, named parameters allow you to specify the correlation of parameters to values by specifying the name of the parameter.
