Downloading partial data from Kaggle - kaggle

I am working on a project that identifies chess positions. The main database I found is on Kaggle however is it's size is 2 GB. Does anyone know if I can download only a small portion of the set instead of the entire thing?
link: https://www.kaggle.com/koryakinp/chess-positions

One way you can do it by clicking on the file one by one and click the download button on the top right of the file.
One more way you can do it download everything and delete the files you dont want.
Or you can use wget in command prompt or curl in terminal and use --max-filesize to limit it to the amount of bites you want.

Google Colab notebook preview (thumbnail) not updating in Drive

There used to be an option in Google Colab under File called Update Drive preview. I no longer see that option and my previews are very out of date. I assumed if it was removed that maybe the preview was updated when saving, but that does not appear to be the case. The worst part is that I have renamed the files and the preview still shows the old filename along the top, which can be confusing. Is another way that I can make this update occur?
Edit:
It is important to note that I do not want the URL for sharing to change, so making a copy would not work as a solution.
The Update Drive preview is now available through the command palette in Colab which is available through Tools->command palette, [CMD/CTRL]+SHIFT+P, or in the menu along the left side of the notebook.

Why I can't find my database file in C: disc from DB Browser

I made database file called doctors.db in path given in following picture. I played with it in Command Prompt and it works perfect!
Now when I try to find it with program DB Browser for sqlite, you can see it is not possible to find it. Does someone know what the problem is? I am really surprised by this. I scrolled entire PC folder and still no sign of it..
Are you sure you've called it 'doctors.db', not just 'doctors'? The file type 'file' suggests it doesn't have its extension.

How to batch add logos to different images

i have almost 5k different logos and also have 5k different images, i want to add them up, is there any tool or way to do this.
I have seen tool which add one logo to all images, but it don't work with my scenario, i need a tool or way which allow me to multiple logos to add on multiple files, for example
image 1 + logo1.jpg= image and logo1.jpg
image 2 + logo2.jpg= image and logo2.jpg
and soo one.
is there way to do this work quickly instead of editing every pic manually
You could achieve this by creating actions and then using batch actions on folders containing the files. If you sort all the images you want to have logo1 into their own folder, you can use a batch action to add the logo to every image in the folder and then save the new image as a jpg in a different folder.
Here is a short youtube video explaining batch actions, and here is a much longer, more detailed video that's officially from Adobe. If you don't like videos, this page explains the process with graphics.
In short, here's what I would do:
Sort all the images you want to have logo 1 into a folder.
Open logo 1.
Select all and copy the logo.
With your logo still on the clipboard, open the first image.
Go to Windows --> Actions
Hit the little paper peeling icon to create a new action
Hit the record button to record your action and name it something you can remember later.
Paste your logo, and place it where you want it.
Go to Layers -> Flatten Image
Stop recording (or you might record how you save, but this doesn't always work. If you do save, don't save over your original, rename it!)
Go to File -> Automate -> Batch, and choose the action you just saved, and select the folder you want to save the new logo-ified images into.
Carefully set all the save options
Click Run!
If you get prompted to choose color options on every save, you might want to redo the action so it includes (or does not include) "save as" options.
This is the short version of the answer. I'm sure there are ways to script it, too, but this may be easier if you're not familiar with scripting.

How to listen to Screen Captures

Is it possible for me to listen to listen to OSX's built in screencapturing so I can handle the files myself rather than osx doing it?
There are a few options.
Just use Ctrl-Cmd-Shift-3 or 4 instead of Cmd-Shift-3 or 4. This does not save the file to the desktop, instead it saves the data in the clipboard/pasteboard. I don't know where's the official mention of this, but here is one. Then you can get the data through NSPasteboard, see here.
You can use FSEvents to be notified whenever a file is created in a specified folder. Then you can rename the screenshot file soon after it was saved to the desktop by the system. Note that the file name of the screenshot depends on the language environment you choose in System Preferences. So, be very careful if you want to make your program work on a non-English machine.
If you just programmatically take the screenshot, you can use the command line tool screencapture, see the man page.
Of course you can hack into the system and take over the handling of Cmd-Shift-3,4, as Snapz Pro does, for example. You know what you're doing if you choose that way.

Why does my PDF ask for a password after being retrieved from Visual SourceSafe?

PREFACE: Yes we're moving away from VSS in the next few months.
One of my web projects contains, as one of its files, a PDF. The PDF on our QA site is being pulled from VSS.
A QA tester recently told me he's being prompted for a password when he tries to open it. VSS says the file I have on disk is different than the one it has, so I updated it, but afterwards it's still being shown as different.
So basically VSS is mangling my PDF and the results are so wobbly that Adobe Acrobat Reader is confused and thinks it has a password.
I've tried adding it as Auto-Detect and as Binary. Same results.
Why does my PDF ask for a password after being retrieved from Visual SourceSafe and how can I prevent it?
Do you have the SourceSafe 2005 Update installed?
Handy list of known issues: http://blogs.msdn.com/richardb/archive/2007/06/06/list-of-bugs-fixed-in-sourcesafe-2005-gdr.aspx
The PDF bug was one of the most commonly requested hotfixes: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925234
I've tried adding it as Auto-Detect and as Binary. Same results.
To be clear, are you adding a version of the file you know is not already corrupted? Even so, there are plenty of other bug fixes on the list above which can cause random file corruption -- try that first.
You can remove PDF password by this tool:
Advanced PDF Password Remover 5.0
Step 1: Import PDF files
Click the "Add File(s)" button, browse your computer to find the PDF files and load them. You can import as many as 200 PDF files into this program for every batch processing. The imported files are listed in the file list window as below.
Step 2: Set output folder
You can customize a folder to save the output files all together. The default folder is My Documents\Advanced PDF Password Removerr. Click "Brows" button to specify a folder on your computer, or you can make a new folder manually in the text box.
Step 3: Remove restrictions
Click "Start" button, and the files are processed one by one.
"SUCCEED" is displayed in the Result column after the removing process is finished.
