SQL "an error occurred during local report processing" - sql

Apologies first of all if there is an answer to this elsewhere on the site. I've checked some of the proposed solutions and can't find anything appropriate.
So I've got this SSRS report that works fine when deployed but won't run locally during testing. The main query itself works when run in the query editor, as do all the sub queries that provide data for parameter drop lists but when I try to preview it, I get the error.
Bear in mind it used to work, up until the end of last year, which was when it was last updated.
I've tried removing all the tables and matrices on a copy (replacing with one very simple table), the parameters went too and I still get the error. I've also downloaded the server version, renamed it and redeployed it, works online, but not locally. As the error message is brutally vague, I've run out of ideas of things to try. Apart from switching over to PowerBI, can anyone think of anything else I could do to understand where the error is from?
Possibly relevant - the main query has some recursion in a subquery, but only a couple of levels. Could this be related? As I've said before, it used to work...
PS I'm using VS 16.7.2 from server V13.0.4466.4
PPS I also added the query to a brand new report and it errored so I think it must be something related to the SQL itself?

sqlplus hangs after being called from a batch file, without throwing up error message

Essentially, where I work we run a variety of reporting processes that follow the same basic structure...
A batch file calls an sql script which executes a stored procedure. Another script extracts the data from Oracle and writes to a csv. Finally, an excel macro runs to create the final output.
We have been encountering an issue recently where if the procedure takes approximately longer than an hour to run, it will then hang indefinitely without moving on to the next line of the batch file. No error message is thrown up.
The most frustrating part is that certain procedures sometimes have the issue, and then the next day they do not.
Has anyone else ever encountered this issue? Or have any idea what could be causing this problem? I feel like it could be connection/firewall related, but it really is not my area of expertise!
You should instrument the batch file and use extended SQL tracing to reveal where ALL of your time is going. Nothing can escape proper instrumentation. You will find the source of the problem. What you do about it varies depending upon the particular problem (i.e., anti-pattern).
I see issues like this all the time. What I do it to connect to the DB and see what is running by checking gV$session. Key is to identify what SQL the script is running, then see if there are any reasons for it to be "hung" (there are MANY possible reasons). for example, missing indexes ; missing or not up to date stats ; workload on the instance ; blocking locks ; ...
If you have the SQL Tuning Advisor, you can run the SQL through there to get some ideas on solutions. Also ADDM Report may provide some additional solutions.

VBA code rushing on debugg mode while interacting with SAP

I'm having some issues with my code that I wasn't able to find anywhere.
Issue: While debugging my code, running it line by line with F8 in Excel, at some specific points excel does not wait for the application with which it's interacting to finish and proceeds to execute the rest of the code.
What is the macro: It's an a macro to automatically input information on SAP, in this case VA02. I do belive that this question is more VBA related than SAP related thus I'm posting here and not on SCN.
Where the problem occurs: The issue only happens when I'm changing the partners numbers in the Partner tab(either header or line item level). I've also saw this happens whenever I was trying to add something on the Conditions tab.
What error does it cause?: None, that's the odd part. While debugging, after I execute the line to change the Bill to Party for example ( Only change the number, no Enter or any other key is send) the code keeps running and execute the next lines. The even more off thing is that SAP seems to still be processing some of the changes but the VBA code keeps running without errors, meaning that SAP is not on the screen its showing.
So, if there's no errors what you want?: Well, while in regullar run mode it work flawleslly, this issue really makes it very hard to debug, forcing me to put a breakpoint in every... single...code...line...
What have you tried?: I've looked into Async and forced sync, no avail. Also looked in something related to Background Refresh but I guess that's only for query connections, I tried it with SAP GUI connection but also didn't worked.
Hope anyone can shed some light on this subject, maybe saw this previously. I will try to test on a peers computes but didn't had the chance yet, will post my findings after.
Thank you for reading and maybe replying =)
This is just a pice of the code as it's huge, I've noticed the problem is different parts, always the part that's inputing info on SAP. My peer write similar codes, that do the same thing on the same fields and he never got this erro so I think it might be related to excel somehow
'Bill site
Connection.findById("ses[" & Sesn & "]/wnd[0]/usr/" & ref & "/subSUBSCREEN_PARTNER_OVERVIEW:SAPLV09C:1000/tblSAPLV09CGV_TC_PARTNER_OVERVIEW/ctxtGVS_TC_DATA-REC-PARTNER[1,1]").Text = Dwks.Cells(2, "N")
For this program the erro usually start on this line, but on other ones i've seen it start on different ones. There's nothing special about this code line, i've used it many times. What comes before it is also pretty standard, just the SAP connection. I'm avoiding post the code here because I'm sure that this is not the cause of the problem, is the same sintax i've always used, with the same elements. This is something excel related.

BI Publisher - Fail to load and save data model

Started BI Publisher about a week ago.
When working on a new data model, about one or two queries in, I get this error when I try to save:
Failed to load servlet/res?s=%252F~developer1%252Ftest%252FJustin%2520Tests%252FOSRP%2520Information.xdm&desc=&_sTkn=9ba70c01152efbcb413.
I can no longer save my data model.
I tried deleting my queries, logging in and out, turning machine off and on, but no luck.
I'm currently resolved to saving all of my queries locally in notepad.
I can create a whole new data model and it will save fine, but then after two or three queries the same thing happens.
What's going on and why would anyone design such a confusing error message?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
After restarting your server once you won't get this issue. It happens some time due to the connection problem.so restart should work for this.It resolved my problem.
None of the proposed solutions worked for me. I found out, on my own, that any unnecessary brackets around CASE in a select statement will cause this error. Remove the unnecessary brackets and the error goes away.
Oracle meta link Doc ID 2173333.1. In BI Publisher releases 11.1.1.8.x and up, there is an option to Manage Cache in the Administration section of BIP. This option was also added to 11.1.1.7 in patch 140715 (11.1.1.7.140715).
Clearing the object cache will resolve the saving errors:
Click on the Administration link
Manage BI Publisher
Manage Cache
Click on the 'Clear Object Cache'

Big Query table too fragmented - unable to rectify

I have got a Google Big Query table that is too fragmented, meaning that it is unusable. Apparently there is supposed to be a job running to fix this, but it doesn't seem to have stopped the issue for myself.
I have attempted to fix this myself, with no success.
Steps tried:
Copying the table and deleting original - this does not work as the table is too fragmented for the copy
Exporting the file and reimporting. I managed to export to google cloud storage, as the file was JSON, so couldn't download - this was fine. The problem was on re-import. I was trying to use the web interface and it asked for a schema. I only have the file to work with, so I tried to use the schema as identified by BigQuery, but couldn't get it to be accepted - I think the problem was with the tree/leaf format not translating properly.
To fix this, I know I either need to get the coalesce process to work (out of my hands - anyone from Google able to help? My project ID is 189325614134), or to get help to format the import schema correctly.
This is currently causing a project to grind to a halt, as we can't query the data, so any help that can be given is greatly appreciated.
Andrew
I've run a manual coalesce on your table. It should be marginally better, but there seems to be a problem where we're not coalescing as thoroughly as we should. We're still investigating, we have an open bug on the issue.
Can you confirm this is the SocialAccounts table? You should not be seeing the fragmentation limit on this table when you try to copy it. Can you give the exact error you are seeing?

Cleaning up my SQL code

So I have a site that is now receiving 30k unique hits a day, and at this moment during the day of peak hours I am getting a lot of 'error establishing database connection' (it's a WP install if you haven't guessed).
Here is a quote from my host:
The error that you included in your
support request seems to indicate that
something is wrong with the code and
the SQL query is not formatted
properly. You would need to dig into
that. We do not offer support for
third-party applications or custom
code.
Is there some "easy way" of pinpointing bad formatted/programmed code via Firebug or some FF extension? I am trying to find any other possibility than going through line by line and making this a five year plan.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If this only happens during peak hours it's probably got nothing to do with the SQL query. Probably the system is not responding fast enough.
