Next, set the environment variable:
Press Windows+R and type sysdm.cpl
Select advance -> Environment variable
Select path-> edit the path and paste the below line:
C:\Program Files\Git\git-bash.exe
To test it, open the command window: press Windows+R, type cmd and then type ssh.

ssh : The term 'ssh' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program

I have tried to connect to a server using ssh but I got the following error ssh :
The term 'ssh' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program.
I have followed the tutorial from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/openssh/openssh_install_firstuse#:~:text=Install%20OpenSSH%20using%20PowerShell.%20To%20install%20OpenSSH%20using,the%20following%20output%20if%20neither%20are%20already%20installed%3A
and managed to install OpenSSH.client and server but I get the same error when trying to run ssh.
I am running on Windows 10 Pro.
I have tried uninstalling OpenSSH and reinstalling it back, restarting the computer but nothing changed.
EDIT :
In a strange way, ssh started working the very next day. I guess the solution was to restart the computer after uninstalling and reinstalling ssh back.
Try first the same command in a new Powershell Windows, one which will inherit from the system changes you just did by installing OpenSSH for Windows
Make sure you do see a C:\Windows\System32\openssh\ssh.exe.
As mentioned in "OpenSSH Server Configuration for Windows 10"
First confirm that the OpenSSH installation folder is on the system path.
For Windows, the default installation folder is SystemDrive:WindowsDirectory\System32\openssh.
In my case, OpenSSH was installed properly and the folder structure was also ok.
However, the ssh syntax was not accepted. So, the solution was just to execute the ssh.exe as:
PS C:\WINDOWS\system32\openssh> .\ssh

Get DISPLAY environment variable from a local terminal to the Visual Studio Code terminal through SSH

I'm using VScode with Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and working through an SSH connection.
Unfortunately, the Remote - SSH extension by Microsoft doesn't enable X11 forwarding (#267), and thus an extension such as Remote X11 has been created.
Sadly, this extension doesn't work for me as I'm working through a jump host/gateway, and therefore have to manually change the DISPLAY variable in the VScode terminal to the DISPLAY variable found in another terminal that is used for displaying stuff.
I guess it is possible to get the DISPLAY variable by running tr '\0' '\n' < /proc/<pid>/environ | grep DISPLAY(Environment variables of a running process on Unix?), with the <pid> being run from the local terminal, and now it's just a problem of automating the search for this process.
So i guess the stuff I'm asking for, is a way to:
Get the pid from a process on a local terminal
Get the DISPLAY variable from this process
Set the DISPLAY variable in every newly opened terminal in VScode (perhaps running step 2 in the workspace-settings.json)
PS. I'm using the VcXsrv X Server

cmd.exe will not recognize command

I have a vb.net application that runs cmd.exe as the following:
Dim Port1 = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Port1.Run("cmd.exe")
Port1.Sendkeys("telnet ip address")
Port1.Sendkeys("{Enter}")
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(6000)
When the cmd runs the sendkeys a error shows
"'telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file."
I closed the cmd window, opened another cmd, and typed in the command with not problems.
I need cmd to run in the vb.net and not as a separate file.
Running the vb.net in Microsoft visual studio Ultimate 2013.
Update: Can anyone tell me why it is doing the same thing when i move the app to another computer and try to run it?
You have to enable telnet on the computer by going to start > control panel > programs and features > turn windows feature on or off > check telnet client or typing optionalfeatures in run and checking telnet client. The command should execute successfully after that.
Either Telnet is not installed on your computer (it's not installed by default on any modern Windows versions as far as I know), or it its installation directory not in the PATH environment variable.
Either add it's install directory to PATH, or specify the full path to telnet.exe in the arguments to cmd.exe.
CMD runs commands based off of System32 and .bat(batch) or .exe. You would have to create a .exe or a .bat and place it into System32 in order for the command to work.

I am trying to open Jmeter by the batch file but it gives me a Windows error

Here is the related error its showing:
java.exe is not a recognized file as an internal or external command,
operable or external command
errorlevel=9009
i was getting the same error on WIndows 8.1(64 bit) and checked java path but it was ok
so i just run my jmeter.bat with Run as Administrator and it worked for me
Many operating systems have an environment variable such as PATH that contains a list of directories (or folders) to be searched when looking for a command to execute. Commands that can be found via the PATH are commonly called external commands. The program that reads the command line or the batch file and invoked the commands may have a number of built in commands, these are commonly called internal commands.
I suggest you examine the PATH (or equivalent) set when your java command executes from the command line and also when execution is attempted from the batch file. Compare the two and make sure the directory containing your java.exe is in the PATH.
Does not work with Java 9 beta:
Running:
C:\java -version
Gives:
java version "9-ea"
Just go into command line and run:
java -jar ApacheJMeter.jar
Set the correct Java Path (installed in your system) in Computer -> Advanced System settings -> Environment Variables -> Ok -> System Variables -> Path
I got the same issue and resolved by following the above steps.
I tried everything, this eventually worked.
Within System Variables:
PATH = "C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_101\bin"
May help someone.
This error occurs due to the path has not been set properly.
Either you can set it in environmental varialables or right click jmeter .bat file, choose edit set the path their, for reference see the jmeter.apache.org user manuals.
For me, my Java path has a space in it and jmeter said it can't find Java
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home
.. I looked at the jmeter.sh script and saw it got the path from "Plugin-Ins" .. onward. I tried just commenting out the exit command after that check in the script .. and then I was able to run jmeter.
So apparently the validation logic has a bug, where the error message about can't find java is in fact not true (if Java is indeed set up correctly), so it can be ignored.
For windows 8.1 Users:
Error when trying to run jmeter.bat
Error message:
Not able to find Java executable or version. Please check your Java installation. errorlevel=2
Press any Key to continue
Resolution:
Right Click jmeter.bat and Run as Administrator.
This worked for me, hope this helps. Good luck
Set the correct JM_LAUNCH variable to java.exe
For Windows XP users set Java environment by following the steps here:
http://www.tutorialspoint.com/jmeter/jmeter_environment.htm
Note the path depends on your installed JDK.
And download the file from:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/jmeter/trunk/bin/jmeter.bat
Then replace your jmeter.bat with the downloaded file.
If you have installed Java and still you get this error, please set the java_home path to below using typing below command in terminal:
export JAVA_HOME="/Library/InternetPlugIns/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home"
Since I run many versions of Java.. I modified jmeter.bat.
rem JM_START - set this to "start" to launch JMeter in a separate window
rem this is used by the jmeterw.cmd script.
rem
rem =====================================================
setlocal
rem Minimal version to run JMeter
set MINIMAL_VERSION=1.8.0
set PATH=%PATH%;C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Java80\jre\bin <<< add This line to jmeter.bat
Copied the JAVA executable from Installed version of Java from C:\Program FilesJava\jdk1.8.0_191\bin and pasted in the folder where the jmeter bat resides and it worked for me.
Not exactly the same issue but somebody might find it helpful
Do not double click jmeter.bat but instead ApacheJMeter.jar in the same directory
For me jmeter.bat run but for a brief moment closing almost immediately and not prompting any error. Above workaround allowed me to start working
if JAVA -version shows as blank or empty in the command prompt (CMD) then you need to clear the all java paths in environment variable and again add JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-11.0.15.1
path= C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-11.0.15.1\bin;
if you see C:\Program Files\Common Files\Oracle\Java\javapath; like this remove this
and try in new CMD prompt then Java -version will work.

Pig Setup on windows in local mode

I have downloaded pig-0.11.1 from apache website
Installed cygwin with perl package
Installed Latest Java
Added pig.../bin to PATH
D:>PATH
PATH=D:\Windows\system32;D:\Windows;D:\Windows\System32\Wbem;D:\Windows\System32 \WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;D:\pig-0.11.1\bin
Now, if I run pig -help,
'pig' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Have I missed any step?
Try opening 'sh' and enter the pig commands. (i.e.) type 'sh' in the command prompt , it will open a shell like below image and enter your pig commands.
