I have couple of doubts regarding Outlook addIns.
I created a ribbon for Outlook application using VSTO.
While sending the mail i call some API and make some db entries.
I keep the mail in inbox even after i sent the mail.
Now i need an option to change the color of that message subject (like indication this is already send. eg : unread mail subject is in bold )
Is there any way that i can achieve this ?
The ribbon i created is showing under Add-ins menu.
i wated to show this in Home itself.
I tried tab idMso="TabHome", TabMail etc but its not working (i am using office 2010)
You would need to modify the view setting based on some condition - look at an existing Outlook views that bold the unread messages and display overdue messages in red.

I would like to move mail from Other to Focused Inbox programmatically or make whatever changes necessary in my new mail event handler so that the mail shows up in one on the other.
The reason I want to do this is because I want most of notification mails from a forum to be in the other inbox; except that when the Subject contains a certain string I want it to show up in the Focused Inbox.
The Manage Focused Inbox help page mentions Focused Inbox REST API and inferenceClassification property that controls but I do not know how to use that.
Is it possible to modify this property in VBA, or any way to move mails between the two inboxes programmatically?
I manually compared all items in MailItem.ItemProperties of a mail message when in Focused and Other Inbox. inferenceClassification is not one of the properties. The only properties with different values are LastModificationTime and strangely OutlookVersion, OutlookInternalVersion, and Size!
The Outlook object model doesn't provide any property or method for including/excluding items from the focused inbox list. But I think it may act like a search folder in Outlook. You just need to find out what is causing emails to appear on the list.
You can use MFCMAPI (open-source) or OutlookSpy (shareware) utilities for exploring hidden properties in Outlook to find out what properties could cause an email to appear in the focused inbox.
When I enable "Out Of Office" automatic messages in Outlook 2010, the "message bar" is filled in with a warning text. I would like to use such a feature to inform the user of my own feature being enabled.
I cannot find any reference to programmatic access to this bar. I found something about the statusbar, but it is not usable in VBA in Outlook.
I am not even sure the proper English name of this feature is "message bar"; I am referring to the same bar which in Word is used to inform user that a document is "dangerous" because coming from internet.
Is this message bar exposed in VBA for Outlook?
I tried finding other methods to inform the user, so I started studying the Ribbon: if I could make my own tab visible I could use it as a "message bar", but Ribbon is managed by Outlook differently from other Office programs, so most of examples available around are not applicable/working in Outlook.
I was able to programmatically create a tab and add a button to it, but then I can't make the tab visible.
I also tried using property "position" of the commandbar: not just msoBarTop but also msoBarBottom or msoBarPopup, but Outlook ignores my efforts.
But maybe managing the Ribbon in Outlook with VBA should be addressed in a separate question (there are some questions about it here, but I could not find useful tips for me; I have no access to VB VSTO).
The area you are referring to is used to implement Mail Tips. Although you can create custom ones through the Exchange Admin Center , they cannot be interacted with via code.
Manipulating Ribbon controls to show states or user messages is not really recommended, as the Ribbon is generally a static thing (except in case of menus, dropdowns and Galleries).
If your goal is to show a transient alert, a better approach would be to use the Windows SDK to show Windows notifications. If having your alert hosted in Outlook is of the utmost importance, then look into using Form Regions or an add-in with Task Panes to display your messaging. Or even a simple VBA MessageBox or User Form.
Also note that your usage of the CommandBar is really only applicable to Outlook 2007 and earlier - there are no more CommandBars in newer versions, just the Ribbon.
I am writing a plugin for Outlook, where I need to fetch only few emails based on some back end Logic.
I have stored those email Message Unique Ids in my DB. And on click of plugin Icon, I wish to load only those Emails to load in my Inbox.
Example, the logic is same as how we click on particular folder like sent items or unread items, it refreshes the Inbox with only the respective emails.

Using NodeJS for coding. Can you please give a pointer, how do we load emails in Inbox? or if we can load only specific emails in Inbox?
This is not possible if you're attempting to use the Outlook's inbox display module to show the items you're refreshing. You will have to open a dialog / or a new browser tab to show the custom list of items - which I think is not good user experience. As Brian called out, office-js add-ins are quite restricted.
I have been searching the web for a way to do this but no such luck. My goal is to save a meeting agenda template into an email signature which would be inserted into every meeting invite created by me.
Looking for some clues on how to do this?
Outlook 2010 and newer include the form designer.
File -> Options -> Customize Ribbon, then, in the Right Side pane, click to turn on the Developer Tab.
From there you can design Meeting Request template to your specification.
Then, to use it, you will select:
New -> Meeting Request Using -> (Your Custom Template) from the Outlook Home tab.
You can handle the ItemSend event of the Application class where you can check out the message class of the outcoming Outlook item and change the message body if required.

The only way I have found to retain attachments with an email from Outlook to SharePoint is to do a save as .msg and drag and drop into the SharePoint library.
I would like to set the library to receive email and retain the attachment as part of the email. I don't want the attachments to separate from the email when they arrive in the library.
Is there an add-in to Outlook or a fix in SharePoint 2010??????
You have two options:
1. Stick with the SharePoint options like adding attachments to the library or to a sub folder of the library based on subject or sender.

Marco, when I created the EventHandler to try and retain the message and attachment when activated it still came through as it was before by separating the message and attachment in two different files
