VSCode WSL - Installing VS Code Server for x64 - FAIL

Can anyone decode the following for me?
WSL was working perfectly on C++ a few weeks back.
Switched to try to run older Python under windows (not WSL) and it seems all twisted up now.
Can't get Win10 nor WSL to run. Keeps trying and failing to update. I re-ran the WSL and updated VSCode on the windows side. I AM behind a proxy but as far as I know, I've update all the files that google searches pointed me at. Pretty frustrated and would appreciate any help there is.

I'm not 100% which step fixed it however I was able to proceed after.
Launching C++ project in wsl also tried to update and failed. The difference being that the install button did actually install the wsl server update w/o fail. So that error was gone.
I then launched another VSCode session with the Python project and the cmd terminal. I then had to use this help (https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/9216#issuecomment-741836058) to adjust the proxy.
I could then proceed to reinstall ipykernel which is what had stopped working and was blocking me.
I'm pretty sure my environments are conflicting with each other. I'm afraid I don't understand VSCode environments well enough and very likely caused this problem for myself.

Failed to open connection to "session" message bus: /usr/bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally without any error message [duplicate]

I am using a very complex setup to test various non-public webpages. I use jenkins to run the python-selenium tests within a dockerimage. That way, I am completely independent of the jenkins environment and can create my own environment. In this environment I have the following software installed:
Ubuntu 16.04.3
Firefox: Mozilla Firefox 57.0.1
geckodriver: 0.18.0
nosetests: 1.3.7
selenium: 3.8.0
When running the tests, which mostly succeed, I see in the geckodriver.log output messages like
(firefox:55): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
/usr/bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally without any error message
My questions:
What does this message mean?
Could that be an indication of the reason why sometimes the tests are failing?
If so, how to fix it?
The error you are seeing is :
(firefox:55): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
/usr/bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally without any error message
So it is clear Firefox attempts to connect to D-BUS daemon and fails as dbus-launch gets terminated abnormally.
dbus-launch
dbus-launch is basically the utility to start a message bus by firefox through a shell script. It would normally be called from a user's login scripts. dbus-launch launches a session bus instance and print the address and pid of that instance to standard output.
You can read more about dbus-launch from the Linux man page
Root Cause
This error can arise if you use su (root), sudo, suedit, gksu. The main reason is DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS retains its value when you su instead of picking up the value in /root/.dbus/session-bus.
Here you will find a detailed discussion on GConf Error: No D-BUS daemon running?! How to reinstall or fix?.
Another possible reason may be the base Firefox Browser version may be an older version on which updates were taken to reach the current version.
Solution :
There are a couple of solutions available to address this ubuntu related issue as follows :
Before you start Firefox you have to type export $(dbus-launch)
However this may result into another error with NSS_USE_SHARED_DB. So you have to use export NSS_USE_SHARED_DB=ENABLED as well.
The most convenient way would be to put all the configuration with in .bashrc file :
export $(dbus-launch)
export NSS_USE_SHARED_DB=ENABLED
firefox &
This discussion speaks about the solution in details.
If dbus-launch is not installed on your system you have to install dbus-x11 package which contains the dbus-launch program.
An effective solution would be to uninstall the older base version of Firefox Browser and install a recent released GA version of Firefox Browser.
Best Approach
The issue with dbus-launch was addressed properly by both Ubuntu and Mozila. To overcome this error you need to follow the below mentioned steps :
Keep your Ubuntu os updated with the Latest Patch Releases and updates.
Always use the latest released version of Selenium-Python client, WebDriver variant e.g. GeckoDriver and Web Browser, e.g. Firefox Browser.
Clean and Build the Project Workspace afresh through your IDE before and after executing your Test Suite.
Clear the Browser Cache before and after the execution of your Tests.
If you have to uninstall any of the Web Client variants (e.g. Mozilla Firefox) you can use Revo Uninstallar with Moderate Memory Scan so that the stale registry settings are discarded.
Use CCleaner tool regularly to wipe away the OS chores including the stale rust_mozprofile directories.
What does this message mean?
DBus is a message bus system for interprocess commutation. There is an open geckodriver issue on a similar if not the same subject:
request to geckodriver fails with no meaningful log entry when there is no access to $HOME/.mozilla or $HOME/.cache
Could that be an indication of the reason why sometimes the tests are failing?
The warning should not really affect the tests but it's difficult to speculate about your intermittent test failures without seeing what is actually happening in your tests.
If so, how to fix it?
Here are some things to try:
upgrade geckodriver to the latest stable version (currently 0.19.1)
update Firefox to the latest nightly version (currently 58)
try this answer

For me the solution was to install dbus-x11
apt install dbus-x11

Error gcloud execution, after reinstalling

I've been using gcloud command for deploying my app in app engine for weeks.
But one day (today) It starts to fail.
gcloud command gives me
Didn't expected \Google\Cloud at this moment.
in my console.
I reinstalled python and google sdk, but I can't be able to execute it again.
I recheck my path environment variables.
I'm using windows.
I'm lost with this issue.
It would appreciate any kind of clue.
This is an already known issue which is occurring often. This happens when it updates to Cloud SDK version 274.0.0 in Windows. You may find more information here.
There is a workaround provided in this Stackoverflow post

You don't have access rights. Try running as an administrator or change permissions.
Also you may try checking, if antivirus has blocked this process.

How to install pgAgent service on windows

I am new in postgreSQL database , I recently found that postgreSQL support SQL Job by pgAgent. I am using windows XP operating system.
I searched lots about pgAgent on Google and trying to configure pgAgent on machine.
Download pgAgent package in which I found pgagent.sql file after executing this file JOB(0) icon is appear on my pgAdmin III object panel. like following image.
But I am facing problem to register pgAgent service. As per postgres sql documentation following is next steps to register services but I am fail to do this. or don't know how to configure pgAgent service.
Following step from postgre sql documentaion :
The service may be quite simply installed from the command line as follows:
"C:\Program Files\pgAdmin III\pgAgent" INSTALL pgAgent -u postgres -p secret hostaddr=127.0.0.1 dbname=pgadmin user=postgres
but I tried lot to do this, please help in how to register pgAgent service with Windows XP.
reference link of postgre sql : http://www.pgadmin.org/docs/1.6/pgagent-install.html
Please help in this , Thanks in Advance !
PgAgent is probably not installed
The pgAgent download page says:
pgAgent is a job scheduler for PostgreSQL which may be managed using
pgAdmin. Prior to pgAdmin v1.9, pgAgent shipped as part of pgAdmin.
From pgAdmin v1.9 onwards, pgAgent is shipped as a separate
application.
And then it provides a download link to http://www.postgresql.org/ftp/pgadmin3/release/pgagent/
But the problem is there's only source code there. There are also SQL files in the tarball but they're useless without pgagent.exe.
How to install it
Apparently the correct way to install a pre-compiled pgAgent is with the Stack Builder installer that also happens to be the primary installation method on Windows for the PostgreSQL server itself. That's what is suggested on the official download page:
http://www.postgresql.org/download/windows/
If you have already installed PostgreSQL for Windows with this method, the installer is available under the name Application Stack Builder in the PostgreSQL 9.2 folder in Windows Start Menu.
StackBuilder will normally recognize your installed PostgreSQL version(s), and suggest to install among various programs pgAgent in the Add-ons, tools and utilities category.
Once you check pgAgent and continue with the installation, it will download it and launch its setup. The setup phase includes runnning the necessary SQL statements and installing the PostgreSQL scheduling Agent - pgAgent windows service. If this step is successful, there is nothing else to do, the functionality will be available in pgAdmin for creating jobs.
What's misleading in the docs
The latest pgAdmin docs at http://www.pgadmin.org/docs/1.16/pgagent-install.html has a Service installation on Windows chapter that says:
The service may be quite simply installed from the command line as
follows (adjusting the path as required):
"C:\Program Files\pgAdmin III\pgAgent" INSTALL pgAgent -u postgres -p
secret hostaddr=127.0.0.1 dbname=postgres user=postgres
However in the majority of cases this is not going to be of help because either:
pgAgent install is done by pgAgent setup as launched by StackBuilder and this step is not necessary.
or you have got pgAdmin alone and pgagent.exe will not be installed so this step is not possible.
pgAdmin will be successfully installed after downloading the compressed file from
https://www.pgadmin.org/download/pgagent-source-code/
there inside, you will find the file "sql\pgagent.sql"
Toss the content of this file into the Query Tool and run it. That will install pgAgent. Refresh your database connection to see the result. The tab pgAgent Jobs should have been created at the root level for your connection.
There is no need of using the INSTALL command from your command line.
I faced the same problem. I was able to get pgagent working by downloading and executing the stand-alone installation file pgagent-3.4.0-4-windows.exe from here: http://sbp.enterprisedb.com/getfile.jsp?fileid=11842
