For a report I'm building, there are fields that are dependent on a user selecting to add additional people to their policy (named in the dataset as dependent1, dependent2, etc).
We need to determine whether these dependants are adults or children for reporting. This will be done via DOB and a DateDiff which I understand
Currently, I can get the report to show ADULT or CHILD if data is present, however if there isn't any data I can't return a "" value, it just defaults to ADULT.
I'm using:
=Switch(DateDiff("yyyy", Fields!Dependant1DoB.Value, Fields!Policy_Start_Date.Value) < 18, "CHILD",
DateDiff("yyyy", Fields!Dependant1DoB.Value, Fields!Policy_Start_Date.Value) >= 18, "ADULT",
DateDiff("yyyy", Fields!Dependant1DoB.Value, Fields!Policy_Start_Date.Value), "")
I also created another column which uses the DateDiff between Fields!Dependant1DoB.Value & Fields!Policy_Start_Date.Value to show the number of years. This works and returns a number. however for some unknown reason where there's no data it still returns "2019" which may be effecting it? I've tried including this in the Switch statement (DateDiff("yyyy",Fields!Dependant1DoB.Value,Fields!Policy_Start_Date.Value)=2019, "")) but this still doesn't work.
Someone please help as this is driving me loopy!
You need to first check for nothing and then apply the switch function, example below:
=IIF(IsNothing(Fields!Dependent1DoB.Value),"",
Switch(
DateDiff("yyyy",Fields!Dependent1DoB.Value,Fields!Policy_Start_Date.Value)<18, "CHILD",
DateDiff("yyyy",Fields!Dependent1DoB.Value,Fields!Policy_Start_Date.Value)>=18, "ADULT"
)

Looks like a silly question, but I can't find a way to access the DataViews in my DataViewManager.
I can see it in the DataViewManager Visualizer window, so there must be a way.
What am I doing wrong?
dvm = New DataViewManager(MyDS) ''-- MyDS is a strongly typed dataset
dvm.CreateDataView(MyDS.Company)
dvm.CreateDataView(MyDS.Sites)
MsgBox(dvm.DataViewSettings.Count) ''-- shows 7, even though I added only 2.
For Each view As DataView In dvm ''-- Error!
MsgBox(view.Table.TableName)
Next
I also observed that irrespective of how many DataViews I create, data the DataViewManager Visualizer shows all DataViews in my dataset. Why?
how do I hide those rows in parent whose child data view returns 0 rows after applying RowFilter on child
I've done it like this, but it feels like a nasty hack; I've never read the source deeply enough to know if there is a better way:
Add a column to your child datatable: Name: IsShowing, Type: Int, Expression: 1, ReadOnly: True
Put the following code:
ChildBindingSource.RemoveFilter()
ParentBindingSource.RemoveFilter()
YourDataSet.ChildDataTable.IsShowingColumn.Expression = ""
YourDataSet.ChildDataTable.Expression = $"IIF([SomeColumn] Like '{SomeFilterText}',1,0)"
ChildBindingSource.Filter = "[IsShowing] > 0"
ParentBindingSource.Filter = "Sum(Child.IsShowing) > 0"
The removal and re-add triggers a re-evaluation of the expression and the filters. There is probably a way to do this without removing/re-adding but I haven't yet found it.. Expressions are normally only re-evaluated when row data changes; changing an expression doesn't seem to recalculate all the row values/trigger a refresh of the relations and BS filters
It would be great if the parent filter supported complex expressions like SUM(IIF(Child.SomeColumn = 'SomeFilter',1,0)>0 but the SUM operator expects only a column name in the parent or child. As such, the circuitous route of having a column with an Expression be the part inside the SUM is the only way i've found to leverage the built in filtering
Remember when you test that the search is case sensitive. If you want it not to be you might have to have another column of data that is the lowercase version of what you want to search and lowercase your query string
Using qlik sense
I have the following measure
RangeAvg(Below(Count( Distinct {1< Year=>} [OrderID]), 0, 52))
I still need when a user selects a year from the filer pane , the measure is unaffected
however using the Year= does not work
Any ideas team please?
The set identifier of 1 represents "the full set of all the records in the application, irrespective of any selections made." If you want all user selections to be accounted for except for Year, simply change the set identifier to $ (assuming you've not set up and used any other alternate states). The $ set identifier refers to the default state; the one that selections are made in by default when the user selects something in the interface.
If you want to ignore all filters but the year you can try this following code:
RangeAvg(Below(Count(Distinct{1<Year = p(Year)>} [OrderID]), 0, 52))
p function mean all possible values
For more information, you can read this help section from the Qlik site
Trying to wrap my head around zoho creator, its not as simple as they make it out to be for building apps… I have an inventory database, and i have four fields that I call to fill a field called Inventory Number (Inv_Num1) –
First Name (First_Name)
Last Name (Last_Name)
Year (Year)
Number (Number)
I have a Custom Function script that I call through a Custom Action in the form report. What I am trying to do is upload a CSV file with 900 entries. Of course, not all of those have those values (first/last/number) so I need to bulk edit all of them. However when I do the bulk edit, the Inv_Num1 field is not updated with the new values. I use the custom action to populate the Inv_Num1 field with the values of the other 4 fields.
Heres is my script:
void onetime.UpdateInv()
{
for each Inventory_Record in Management
{
FN = Inventory_Record.First_Name.subString(0,1);
LN = Inventory_Record.Last_Name.subString(0,1);
YR = Inventory_Record.Year.subString(2,4);
NO = Inventory_Record.Number;
outputstr = FN + LN + YR + NO;
Inventory_Record.Inv_Num1 = outputstr;
}
}
I get this error back when I try to run this function
Error.
Error in executing UpdateInv workflow.
Error in executing For Each Record task.
Error in executing Set Variable task. Unable to update template variable FN.
Error evaluating STRING expression :
Even though there is a First Name for example, it still thinks there is none. This only happens on the fields I changed with Bulk Edit. If I do each one by hand, then the custom action works—but of course then the Inv_Num1 is already updated through my edit on success functions and makes the whole thing moot.
this may be one year late, you might have found the solution but just to highlight, the error u were facing was just due to the null value in first name.
you just have put a null check on each field and u r good to go.
you can generate the inv_number on the time of bulk uploading also by adding null check in the same code on and placing the code on Add> On Submt.( just the part inside the loop )
the Better option would be using a formula field, you just have to put this formula in that formula field and you'll get your inventory_number autogenerated , you can rename the formula_field to Inv Number or whaterver u want.
Since you are using substring directly in year Field, I am assuming the
year field as string.else you would have to user Year.tostring().substring(2,4) & instead of if(Year=="","",...) you have to put if(Year==null , null,...);
so here's the formula
if(First_Name=="","",First_Name.subString(0,1))+if(Last_Name =="","",Last_Name.subString(0,1)) + if(Year=="","",Year.subString(2,4)+Number
Let me know ur response if u implement this.
Without knowing the datatype its difficult to fix, but making the assumption that your Inventory_Record.number is a numeric data item you are adding a string to a number:
The "+" is used for string Concatenation - Joiner but it also adds two numbers together so think "a" + "b" = "ab" for strings but for numbers 1 + 2 = 3.
All good, but when you do "a" + 2 the system doesn't know whether to add or concatenate so gives an error.
I want to make a Report in Penthao Report Designer
My SQL query tells me the SUM of some variables and another variable is already the same SUM.
So for Example
DATE Name Expected SUM
Today A 20 20
Today B 10 5
Inside the Report Designer i select a Text field which is OK if Expected-SUM=0 else Error.
Inside my Report i know want to display if for "Today" all those Textfields are OK (than one row should display OK) or if at least one of them is Error than only Display one Row with Error for a given Date
I'm thankfull for every suggestion.
As here are no suggestions so far, maybe this is one solution: I would do this with an JavaScript-Step, but as a tranformation with a field and a filter-step:
Javascript:
var testing = "";
if(expected - sum == 0){
testing = "ok";
}
else {
testing = date;
}
And after that a filter-step, which sends rows to an "error"-output-report (with given date): filter is "testing NOT ok".
Sorry if thats not the solution for your problem, I have no experiences with Reports ... But maybe it's a hint and you asked for "every suggestion" :)
Hope it works!
I am trying to get the ID under "General" from a feature item in rally. This is my query:
body = { "find" => {"_ProjectHierarchy" => projectID, "_TypeHierarchy" => "PortfolioItem/Feature"
},
"fields" => ["FormattedID","Name","State","Release","_ItemHierarchy","_TypeHierarchy","Tags"],
"hydrate" => ["_ItemHierarchy","_TypeHierarchy","Tags"],
"fetch"=>true
}
I am not able to get any value for FormattedID, I tried using "_UnformattedID" but it pulls up an entirely different value than the FormattedID. Any help would be appreciated.
LBAPI does not have FormattedID field. You are correct using _UnformattedID. It is the FormattedID without the prefix. For example, this query:
https://rally1.rallydev.com/analytics/v2.0/service/rally/workspace/1111/artifact/snapshot/query.js?find={"_ProjectHierarchy":2222,"_TypeHierarchy":"PortfolioItem/Feature","State":"Developing",_ValidFrom: {$gte: "2013-06-01TZ",$lt: "2013-09-01TZ"}},sort:{_ValidFrom:-1}}&fields=["_UnformattedID","Name","State"]&hydrate=["State"]&compress=true&pagesize:200
shows _UnformattedID that correspond to FormattedID as this screenshot shows:
I noticed your are using fields and fetch . Per LBAPI's documentation, it uses fields rather than fetch. If you want to get all fields, use fields=true
As far as the missing custom fields, make sure that the custom field value was set within the dates of the query.
Compare these almost identical queries: the first query does not return a custom field, the second query does.
Query #1:
https://rally1.rallydev.com/analytics/v2.0/service/rally/workspace/1111/artifact/snapshot/query.js?find={"_ProjectHierarchy":2222,"_TypeHierarchy":"PortfolioItem/Feature","State":"Developing",_ValidFrom: {$gte: "2013-06-01TZ",$lt: "2013-09-01TZ"}}}&fields=["_UnformattedID","Name","State","c_PiCustomField"]&hydrate=["State","c_PiCustomField"]
Query #2:
https://rally1.rallydev.com/analytics/v2.0/service/rally/workspace/11111/artifact/snapshot/query.js?find={"_ProjectHierarchy":2222,"_TypeHierarchy":"PortfolioItem/Feature","State":"Developing",__At: "current"}&fields=["_UnformattedID","Name","State","c_PiCustomField"]&hydrate=["State","c_PiCustomField"]
The first query uses time period: _ValidFrom: {$gte: "2013-06-01TZ",$lt: "2013-09-01TZ"}
The second query uses __At: "current"
Let's say I just create a new custom field on PortfolioItem. It is not possible to create a custom field on PorfolioItem/Feature, so the field is created on PI, but both queries still use "_TypeHierarchy":"PortfolioItem/Feature".
After I created this custom field, called PiCustomField, I set a value of that field for a specific Feature, F4.
The first query does not have a single snapshot that includes that field because that field did not exist in the time period we lookback. We can't change the past.
The second query returns this field for F4. It does not return it for other Features because all other Features do not have this field set.
Here is the screenshot:
