I tried to automate the traceability between the elements in Enterprise Architect using VBA scripting. If the traceability already existed between the elements I need to skip those elements.
I wrote using one simple query where the Object ids are present in the EAP.
set useCaseCollection = Repository.GetElementSet("select Start_Object_ID from t_connector where (Start_Object_ID = -1222814411 and End_Object_ID = 505879126 and Connector_Type = 'Realisation')",2)
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
Session.Output( useCaseCollection.Count)
End if
On Error Goto 0
Now the problem is I am getting one exception as Item not found in the collection if the traceability exists between the elements. If traceability is not there then it's printing the value as zero. Anything is wrong in the above approach or any other solution is there for this problem?
I guess the answer is simple. GetElementSet only works on t_object (Elements) not on t_connector. Use SQLQuery instead. Or use a JOIN to actually return the connected element, rather than the object ID.
Something along those lines:
dim useCaseCollection as EA.Collection
set useCaseCollection = Repository.GetElementSet("select * from t_object WHERE object_ID in (SELECT start_object_id FROM t_connector)",2)
Session.Output( useCaseCollection.Count)
I think it might be enough to change the alias of the field Start_Object_ID in your query to read Object_ID
set useCaseCollection = Repository.GetElementSet("select Start_Object_ID as Object_ID from t_connector where (Start_Object_ID = -1222814411 and End_Object_ID = 505879126 and Connector_Type = 'Realisation')",2)
Assuming of course the rest of the query is OK; I've never seen negative object ID's.

I have the following code:
set output spoole
select * from displays where displayname='dsp020a'
select * from forms where formname in (select formname from displayforms where displayname='dsp020a')
select * from formfields where formname in (select formname from displayforms where displayname='dsp020a')
The third select is crashing ZIM with the following error:
*** ZIM System Error *** The Zim tree pool has overflowed. Type BYE to exit from Zim.
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it?
When trying to use SQL in ZIM, I also saw problems and unexpected errors. You should always try to use the native ZIM 4GL commands to access data as well as object definitions.
ZIM Data Dictionary contains some predefined internal relations which can help analyse the data model. For example, you could say:
list all Displays DispDispForms DisplayForms where Displays.DisplayName = "dsp020a"
to find out which forms are contained in the given display. Likewise you could do:
list all Forms FormFormFields FormFields where Forms.FormName in ("f020a", "f020b", "f020c")
to list all form fields which belong to the given forms. Unfortunately, there is no relation between DisplayForms and Forms, so you cannot achieve directly what you tried in your example using SQL.
OR (added after your comment):
You can achieve that using a small program. For this example, it would be:
set output output_file
find Displays DispDispForms DisplayForms where Displays.DisplayName = "dsp020a"
while $setcount > 0
let vStr = DisplayForms.FormName
list all Forms FormFormFields FormFields where Forms.FormName = vStr
let $setcount = $setcount - 1
next
endwhile
set output terminal
Now you have all form fields which belong to all forms of the given display listed in the output_file.
There probably already is a relationship between dfs and forms in the db schema but the documentation is poor. However, you can create your own. Note that dfs is a role for displayforms.
add 1 rels let relname = 'dfsforms' relcondition = 'dfs.formname = forms.formname' reltype = 'ZIM' dirname = 'ZIM'
create rel dfsforms
Now you can find forms related to displays using:
find all displays dispdispforms dfs dfsforms forms formformformfields wh displays.displayname = 'dsp020a'
I have problems to read the error codes and corresponding messages of SCI message classes.
Is there an way to easy access those?
I'm using "Praxishandbuch SAP Code Inspector" as a reference, but in that regard it is of no help.
I looked in Se11 but the information to the messages isn't helpful.
Has someone an approch to build such a table?
You can try this, perhaps it will work for you. I use the code below to get the access to all the errors found by Code Inspector for particular user(s):
data: ref_inspec_a type ref to cl_ci_inspection.
ref_inspec_a = cl_ci_inspection=>get_ref(
p_user = pa_iuser
p_name = pa_inam
p_vers = pa_ivers ).
data: ls_resp type scir_resp,
lt_resp type scit_resp.
clear: ls_resp, lt_resp.
ls_resp-sign = 'I'.
ls_resp-option = 'EQ'.
ls_resp-low = pa_fuser.
insert ls_resp into table lt_resp.
call method ref_inspec_a->get_results
exporting
p_responsibl = lt_resp
exceptions
insp_not_yet_executed = 1
overflow = 2
others = 3.
Playing around with LT_RESP you can get results for more users at the same time.
After you execute the code above, you can check the attributes SCIRESTPS and SCIRESTHD of the object REF_INSPEC_A. These are the large tables, which contain the result data of the SCI check. You can either work with them on your own, or you can simply pass the object REF_INSPEC_A into the function module SCI_SHOW_RESULTS to get regular SCI user interface.
I found out that you can get all the changeable messages (found in SCI GoTo/Management Of/ Message Priorities) can be read from the scimessages attribute of the test classes.
With this help you can get about 60% of all errors.
Having a bit of trouble having not long started with Entity Framework.
I have two tables which have a 0 to 1 relationship. When I select a row from the main table (staff) it's fine unless I select a row that has no joining record in the second table (status). If I do this, then it throws up 'Object reference not set to instance of an object' when it's trying to access the proprty of the second table:
If Not cls.STATUS_DESC.STAFF_INFO Is DBNull.Value Then
lblStatusDescription.Text = cls.STATUS_DESC.STAFF_INFO
End If
The LINQ I use to get the record is:
Dim account As STAFF =
(From a In sa.STAFFs
Where a.STAFF_NO = staffno
Select a).FirstOrDefault
There is no direct reference to the sub table in the statement, however the join is defined in the database diagram which allows me to reference the properties.
I'm certain it's a very basic issue, but like I said I've only just started using it!
I'm not sure if I can interpret your code correctly but I think it has to do with the Lazy Loading feature of Entity Framework. You must explicitly include the reference to load it into memory. You can to this by using the Include() method as below. I assume that STATUS_DESC is the name of the navigation property. Replace it with the actual one if I'm wrong:
Dim account As STAFF =
(From a In sa.STAFFs Where a.STAFF_NO = staffno Select a) _
.Include("STATUS_DESC") _
.FirstOrDefault
Got around it by adding:
If Not cls.STATUS_DESC Is Nothing Then
end if
to the property call, which seems fairly obvious now I think about it. Is this the most efficient way though, I would have thought that EF would have been able to handle a simple left join.
I have a piece of SQL that I want to translate to OCL. I'm not good at SQL so I want to increase maintainability by this. We are using Interbase 2009, Delphi 2007 with Bold and modeldriven development. Now my hope is that someone here both speaks good SQL and OCL :-)
The original SQL:
Select Bold_Id, MessageId, ScaniaId, MessageType, MessageTime, Cancellation, ChassieNumber, UserFriendlyFormat, ReceivingOwner, Invalidated, InvalidationReason,
(Select Parcel.MCurrentStates From Parcel
Where ScaniaEdiSolMessage.ReceivingOwner = Parcel.Bold_Id) as ParcelState From ScaniaEdiSolMessage
Where MessageType = 'IFTMBP' and
not Exists (Select * From ScaniaEdiSolMessage EdiSolMsg
Where EdiSolMsg.ChassieNumber = ScaniaEdiSolMessage.ChassieNumber and EdiSolMsg.ShipFromFinland = ScaniaEdiSolMessage.ShipFromFinland and EdiSolMsg.MessageType = 'IFTMBF') and
invalidated = 0 Order By MessageTime desc
After a small simplification:
Select Bold_Id, (Select Parcel.MCurrentStates From Parcel
where ScaniaEdiSolMessage.ReceivingOwner = Parcel.Bold_Id) From ScaniaEdiSolMessage
Where MessageType = 'IFTMBP' and not Exists (Select * From ScaniaEdiSolMessage
EdiSolMsg Where EdiSolMsg.ChassieNumber = ScaniaEdiSolMessage.ChassieNumber and
EdiSolMsg.ShipFromFinland = ScaniaEdiSolMessage.ShipFromFinland and
EdiSolMsg.MessageType = 'IFTMBF') and invalidated = 0
NOTE: There are 2 cases for MessageType, 'IFTMBP' and 'IFTMBF'.
So the table to be listed is ScaniaEdiSolMessage.
It has attributes like:
MessageType: String
ChassiNumber: String
ShipFromFinland: Boolean
Invalidated: Boolean
It has also a link to table Parcel named ReceivingOwner with BoldId as key.
So it seems like it list all rows of ScaniaEdiSolMessage and then have a subquery that also list all rows of ScaniaEdiSolMessage and name it EdiSolMsg. Then it exclude almost all rows. In fact the query above give one hit from 28000 records.
In OCL it is easy to list all instances:
ScaniaEdiSolMessage.allinstances
Also easy to filter rows by select for example:
ScaniaEdiSolMessage.allinstances->select(shipFromFinland and not invalidated)
But I do not understand how I should make a OCL to match the SQL above.
Listen to Gabriel and Stephanie, learn more SQL.
You state that you want to make the code more maintainable, yet the number of developers who understand SQL is greater by far than the number of developers who understand OCL.
If you leave the project tomorrow after converting this to OCL, the chances that you'd be able to find someone who could maintain the OCL are very slim. However, the chances that you could find someone to maintain the SQL are very high.
Don't try to fit a square peg in a round hole just because you're good with round hammers :)
There is a project, Dresden OCL, that might help you.
Dresden OCL provides a set of tools to parse and evaluate OCL constraints on various models like UML, EMF and Java. Furthermore Dresden OCL provides tools for Java/AspectJ and SQL code generation. The tools of Dresden OCL can be either used as a library for other project or as a plug-in project that extends Eclipse with OCL support.
I haven't used it, but there is a demo showing how the tool generates SQL from a model and OCL constraints. I realize you're asking for the opposite, but maybe using this you can figure it out. There is also a paper that describes OCL->SQL transformations by the same people.
With MDriven (successor of Bold for Delphi) I would do it like this:
When working with OCL to SQL everything becomes easier if you think about the different set's of information you need to check - and then use ocl operators as ->intersection to find the set you are after.
So in your case you might have a set like this:
ScaniaEdiSolMessage.allinstances->select(shipFromFinland and not invalidated)
but you also have a set like this:
ScaniaEdiSolMessage.allinstances->select(m|m.ReceivingOwner.MessageType = 'IFTMBP')
And you further more have this criteria:
Parcel.allinstances->select(p|p.Messages->exists(m|m.MessageType = 'IFTMBF')).Messages
If all these Sets have the same result type (collection of ScaniaEdiSolMessage) you can simply intersect them to get your desired result
ScaniaEdiSolMessage.allinstances->select(shipFromFinland and not invalidated)
->intersection(ScaniaEdiSolMessage.allinstances->select(m|m.ReceivingOwner.MessageType = 'IFTMBP'))
->intersection(Parcel.allinstances->select(p|p.Messages->exists(m|m.MessageType = 'IFTMBF')).Messages
)
And looking at that we can reduce it a bit to:
ScaniaEdiSolMessage.allinstances
->select(m|m.shipFromFinland and (not m.invalidated) and
(m.ReceivingOwner.MessageType = 'IFTMBP'))
->intersection(Parcel.allinstances->select(p|
p.Messages->exists(m|m.MessageType = 'IFTMBF')).Messages
)
Processing an XML file with LINQ to add records into a table in a SQL Server database via a data context. As we are adding records we need to assign the parents in various other tables. Most of the time we can find the existing parent and use it but sometimes we will need to create a new parent.
Thought we could do this like this:
Dim defaultPub As publication
defaultPub = New publication With {.name = e..Value}
Dim pub = _Data.publications.Where(Function(s) s.name = e..Value).DefaultIfEmpty(defaultPub).SingleOrDefault
.publication = pub
So we are trying to find a publication that matches e..Value from our XML, but if we can't find one then we use 'defaultPub'. If it does exist though we don't want to add it again. So maybe this approach is flawed anyway even if it did work...
Anyway it's not currently working, we get this error:
Unsupported overload used for query operator 'DefaultIfEmpty'.
The overload requires a publication and is getting one (I've checked the TypeNames in quickwatch), don't know what is going on here.
What we are really looking for is something like the find_or_create from activerecord for Ruby that LINQ seems to be a copied from.
Thanks in advance,
Dave.
OK, I can just do it like this:
Dim pub = _Data.publications.Where(Function(s) s.name = e.<source>.Value).SingleOrDefault
Dim newPub As publication
If Not IsNothing(pub) AndAlso pub.name <> "" Then
.publication = pub
Else
newPub = New publication With {.name = e.<source>.Value}
.publication = newPub
End If
Thanks Val!
