I have a windev programm that needs to access some SAP data.
Because of my company's restrictions, i cannot use the SAP native access provided with WinDev.
So, How can I use vba code that uses SAP from windev?
This is for a .exe programm for Windows. I need to go through the SAP GUI, so SAP GUI scripting is used.
Unfortunately, due to my company's restrictions, i do not have any code to show.
I finally found an answer !
To use SAP Scripting without using the native access, you can use a Batch file to run your SAP Scripting file.
That is one way of doing it. You can also use an excel file, with macros, and analyze your data there before using those in Windev.
Sure it is a complicated way to do things, but if your company does not allow you to directly read SAP database's tables, you can do it using this method.

Netsuite has SuiteAnalytics Connect, which is ODBC. It can be downloaded from a link at the very bottom the home screen of your Netsuite account.
After installation of the application bundle and connecting it to your Netsuite, you can write ORACLE SQL queries via Excel, Access, etc. My experience is that Netsuite uses Oracle SQL in ODBC queries and in Saved Search custom queries.
The way I understand it, the ODBC driver is a separately priced item from NetSuite. Once you have that, you could use Excel, Access, Crystal Reports or anything else that can use the ODBC driver to read the data and write queries against it.
The normal way to access NetSuite data is with SuiteScript -- javascript code that uses the nlapi* calls to get to the data.
You can access Netsuite backend using a number of different tools and it allows running Oracle SQL directly.
Netsuite provides JDBC, ADO.NET and ODBC if it was included in your licensing purchase. You can find the downloads from the main menu - lower left hand of the screen in Settings - Set Up SuiteAnalytics Connect.
ADO.net however is pretty worthless in SSIS as it doesn't allow parameter mapping or SQL from a variable value. I have yet to get the ODBC driver to work correctly - it can connect and show columns of a table but it won't validate saying "The ODBC Source.Outputs[ODBC Source Error Output].Columns[...] on the error output has properties that do not match the properties of its corresponding data source column."
The other options I'm looking into are Cozyroc and Kinsgwaysoft adapters for Netsuite. You could also do SOAP or REST connections if desired.
I've not used this, but there should as of 2014.2 there is an ODBC driver available for read access.

As previously mentioned, if you have it licensed you can download the ODBC driver from the Netsuite application. I tested some other adapters but found Netsuite's at least as good as the competitors and they provide timely security updates to the drivers as well as both 64 and 32 bit versions.
There are also metadata browsers that are on the net (example is URL below), the type of browser being based on which kind of access you are looking at (web services, verses ODBC, etc).

Within the application GUI there is information you need to connect using their ODBC connection (you need the account id and the role id). The URL is just odbcserver.xxxx.netsuite.com where xxx is specific to your environment you are accessing. Note that other adapters such as Cozyroc, etc. require the admin to setup connections in Netsuite for those.

In addition, note that the URL above does NOT include customization. Plus its not easily consumed by automation tools. But Netsuite provides a set of metadata views within the repository which you can use ODBC to pull from which includes all keys - foreign and primary. AND it does include customizations! I built simple set of ETL jobs that use standard ADO.NET driver within SSIS and the ODBC DSN to pull all the metadata and then use BIML to automatically generate all the extract ETL and related staging tables. You can also easily then use the metadata to detect changes in the underlying database.

There are 3rd party tools, like CData ODBC Adapter for NetSuite: http://www.cdata.com/drivers/netsuite/odbc/ . This tool allows you to run standard SQL against the NetSuite API. Note that the NetSuite API presents a very different data model from that of the native NetSuite ODBC.
With this tool, you install in onto your machine (Win in my case) and then after you configure the driver, you can run SQL against it (the driver config is where you specify your NS credentials, etc.).
It revolutionizes access to NetSuite data IMHO.
Download the Netsuite ODBC drivers, set up your DSN locally with server/credentials, Use SSIS pkgs to automate data extract and load onto you local DB. Use ADO.NET drivers if preferred. Then utilize those tables to create/deliver your complex reports using SQL (stored procedures) and Reporting Services. This will require SQL Standard license at minimum though.
Only API call can access the NetSuite data
You can't access to Netsuite data using sql language.
The only way to gain access to Netsuite from third party systems is to use SOAP request or PHP toolkit.
I am trying to do a Performance test with Loadrunner on Excel based application which is redirect from SAP GUI.
Loadrunner able to record all the activity perform in SAP application but it's not recording anything for EXCEL.
My main target is to record the excel , For testing the performance of the application.
I also try with QTP and succeed but as I want to conduct performance test, so the script is no use for me.
Any suggestions what protocol to use Or any other scripting language for performance test on excel based application with SAP GUI.
And just what protocol is the excel spreadsheet using to communicate to what type of server? Only when you answer that can you then answer how to reproduce the server communication behavior of your excel application.
On the other hand, if you are simply downloading a spreadsheet, modifying it locally and then uploading the changes without any server communication then you had better dust off your programming skills, download the current excel file format and prepare to make the modifications to the file in code (or have another static one to upload)
I have a lightswitch project in visual studio 2013, using vb.net. I would like the user to be able to click a button and have lightswitch find an excel file, and upload that file to a sql table according to a pre-determined column mapping.
My preference was to use the Office Integration extension for visual studio, which I got working with VS 2013 by downloading it from this link: http://www.ge.tt/71iuRQv/v/0
However, the documentation and examples for office integration seem to be very heavy on getting an excel spreadsheet into a display in the lightswitch web client, rather than into the sql data table, which is where I need it. Here are the examples I've been following:

Alternatively, I have an existing stored procedure, and I can request that the server call this stored proc by sending a web API extension from the client to the server. I have this working already for other stored procs, according to examples from Beth Masi and Paul van Bladel. (Stackoverflow won't let me post the links...)
The undesirable part of this approach is that the stored proc is old, and messy.
I've searched and searched, but have yet to find anyone approach this problem for VS 2013 with lightswitch. Any useful advice?
I've used the method detailed by Matt Sampson to store word files and it works very well. Since it just stores the raw binary it should handle Excel files just as well.
If you're creating the table in LightSwitch, use the Binary Type. If you use SQL create scripts use varbinary(MAX).
You need to create a custom Silverlight dialog box to gain access to the OpenFileDialog object. Then open the file in as a FileStream.
Finally, you need to add a handler for the closed method of the control and then show the control to the user. Most likely done in a button. This needs to be done on the main dispatcher.
The code examples are in C# but I just used one of the many available translators out on the web and copy/pasted the VB.NET code.
Another option might be to consider shelling out to the DTSEXEC run-time to execute an SSIS package to perform the upload - especially if the target Excel spreadsheets have predefined layouts and content data types.
Even simpler, you might be able to use the SQL Server BULK INSERT command to get the job done - although that would require a SQL Client connection to your database.

I am writing a VBA script to import data from an Access database to a remote database server. (It happens to be PostgreSQL, but I don't think that's very relevant.) At the moment, my scripts are embedded inside an Access database. However, I would like to version my scripts like I do my other source code: as plain text so SVN can give me good change tracking.
I would also prefer not to have to deliver the source files to the client for them to use the script. In other words, I would like to deliver the import tool already compiled into the Access database. Is it possible to do so?
Or am I chasing the wrong rabbit? Is there a way I can use the Access libraries without embedding any code into the Access database? My searching suggests not, but I'm open to the possibility. This is the first thing I've ever done with VBA, so there's a ton I don't know, I'm sure.
I think I was going down the wrong rabbit hole (and I think I was using a non-existent idiom). Turns out that there are some .NET interop DLLs for Office. My machine seems to have the .NET interop DLLs already installed with Office, so all I had to do was add a reference to the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access DLL and create an application object:

I think a .NET app is going to be more suited to my needs. I'm not going to be doing a lot of Access specific things. This will allow me to have my source under version control as usual. The only downside is that any development machine (and build server, if I automate the build) will need Access installed, but that was going to happen with a VBA script, anyway.
If you don't want to do it within Access, you may want to tag this differently.
You can deliver your database to the client as an MDE file, which is a compiled and stand-alone Access database. The client will not be able to see the modules or other VBA code in this format, if that is your main concern.

If you're doing this from vb.net, it seems to me that it would be simpler to automate Word, which has no difficulty utilizing Jet/ACE data as data source. I don't see any reason to involve the Access application in this, unless you have complex logic that needs to be executed within Access to get correct results in Word. For instance, Word doesn't do parent/child data display very well, but Access reports do that very easily.
Another question is the final disposition of the results. It may be that you don't need Word at all, e.g., if you're using Word for nothing more than generating PDFs. In that case, it might make more sense to create Access reports and output those to PDF (there's an add-in available for for A2007, and in previous versions, you can use the VB automatable PDFCreator, which is free).
In short, my conclusions would be:
if you're just merging data in Word from a Jet/ACE data store, then automate Word.
if you need to execute complex logic, it's probably better to automate Access and either output Access reports directly, or automate Word from Access.
In neither case, I believe, would you be automating both Word and Access directly from your VB.NET application.
You should connect to the Access Database using a Typed Dataset.
Right-click the project, click Add New Item, select Typed Dataset, and follow the wizard.
To control Word, add a reference to Microsoft.Office.Word and use the Application class.
You can build reports in MS Access that have the Export to Word functionality built into them.
You can invoke the report from your code and then call the export functionality and give it parameters so that it will export to a .doc file that you name. You can then invoke MS Word and open the .doc file up for display.
