I am looking for a requirements management software, like DOORS, but for free (I need to enter requirements, and generate a specification document, not only follow requirement traceability like reqtify allows you to do)
I searched on the Internet, and I found the nearly perfect sofware : GenSpec. Moreover, GenSpec use templates with standards, like IEEE 830 which is the one I am interested in.
I said "nearly perfect" because the document generation does not work in GenSpec (runtime error). So I tried to subscribe to the google group to ask some assistance, but I think it is an old software which is not supported and updated anymore (for info, I downloaded GenSpec 6.8.40 and I work with Microsoft Office 2016, I think there is a compatibility issue, but it is only an hypothesis)
So I am posting this subject here if someone can :
Either tell me if there is a similar software ?
Or, knows GenSpec and
can perhaps help me with my document generation issue (I could give
more details in this case) ?
Thanks !

Yes, there is a similar SW - ReqView. See the SW Recommendations question at

I use a software called RentalDesk NX that is built on top of Nexus DB. According to the help manual for Report Designer, I need to code in Object Pascal, but none of the functions I can find referenced online (such as RightStr, StrToDate, or YearOf) seem to work at all.
I've been working on a report for my accounting department and cannot find a good way to do date math. Does anyone have any insight as to what resource may actually be helpful to me?
I have already crossposted to the RentalDesk NX user community.
The RentalDesk NX report engine is based on digital metaphors' report engine see https://www.digital-metaphors.com/
The developers guide may help RBDeveloperGuide.zip or the learning Report Builder part of the web site https://www.digital-metaphors.com/download/learning_reportbuilder.html
As for the actual flavour of object pascal, I believe that it's based on remote objects Pascal script - but the best place to ask is probably the digital metaphors' news group news.digital-metaphors.com.
I don't know if you have a support contract for your copy of RentalDesk NX, but that would be IMHO the quickest route to specific questions e.g RightStr doesn't exist in Pascal script, you use Copy(string, start, end);

What are the best free uml drawing tools?
All the ones I have found require membership payments and only offer limited functionality based to public users on a trial basis...rubbish!
For my (very simple) needs I used ArgoUML. I'm not an expert about, but I found it enough easy to use. It's open source and, on the web page, you can find a good user guide.
Have a look at StarUML ( http://staruml.sourceforge.net/en/ )
It's free, open source, and incredibly fully featured.
For a full list, check out the ones marked as Open Source here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unified_Modeling_Language_tools
But I'd really recommend StarUML!
For my first two software engineering courses, I used the stand alone version of UMLet, but it is just for diagrams. It exports to standard graphics, or pdf. They also have an eclipse plugin version, but I never used it.
For a no frill drawing tool, I find Google Docs (drawings) pretty good. Note that printing works better under Mozilla than Chrome, strangely enough. In Chrome, I cannot get dashed lines to print.
Try UMLet. Supports Eclipse IDE.

I've been searching the net for a couple days now and haven't turned up anything that solves my issue.
The current client I'm working for currently embeds Instamapper into thier site which allows them to track thier drivers in real-time.
now my search has produced a good number of GPS tracking solutions but none that meet all the requirements the client is looking for, so I decided to post the question on here and see if anyone knows anything that I may have missed.
Requirements
Must be able to embed a map into the clients site.
Must be compatible with Blackberry, Android, and iPhone mobile Phones.
Doesn't have to be free, the Client is willing to pay for the service.
If anyone knows of a solution I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thank you,
BWC
I searched and searched, and there really isn't anything out there that solved my problem so I ended up writing my own.

There are commercial cross-platform install tools out there and i think that they are really useful because you "compose" your setup once and the setup tool compiles it for the target platforms you want it to work for.
Unfortunately, such tools are expensive for a shareware author like me - they cost thousands of dollars. Are there similar open source projects out there?
Thanks in advance,
David
I'm having the same problem. Looked into IZPack, IZPack with Native Laucher, Lauch4J, ... All of them way too complex to use, at least for my taste. Searching for more info on IZPack, I've run accross that one a minute ago almost by accident: http://www.installjammer.com/
Looks promising, haven't tried it yet, though.
IZPack does very fine, i think. It's comprehensive, cross-platform and has a commercial-friendly license.

Does anybody know if autotrader.com offers an API or something that would help with mass postings of vehicles?
Or does anybody have any idea of what to use to create something like this? I was thinking of maybe a mouse location and click over a browser window type of thing.
AutoTrader provides a bulk upload feature through a file feed process. The file runs through a set of processes to associate it with the proper listing tier (Premium, Feature or Standard) and in addition normalizes the information across vehicle make and models. This process runs several times daily and is being migrated to a near real-time solution for quicker add or updates.
I can find no documentation on it but I've come across this link which seems to provide a json response.
