I'm trying to recreate an excel file that I had found that imported data into a table using an OLE DB Query Connection that made use of a SQL server. When I go to the connection properties of the connection I'm trying to recreate, there's no connection file and the connection type states that it is an OLE DB Query. It has a lengthy connection string with the information of the SQL server and then the SQL command text that tells the query basically what to search for.
I am using the 2010 v. of Excel so I go to Data > From Other Sources > Data Connection Wizard > Other/Advanced....
I have no idea where to go from there. I've tried clicking on the OLE DB for SQL but it doesn't seem like it's right as it'll delete itself because there's apparently too much data from the query and it'll take too long to load.

Linked Server/ OpenQuery is the way to achieve this. have a look on this.

If the data that's being imported isn't large and this won't be a reoccurring task a linked server would probably be the better option. Creating one through the SSMS GUI is easier if you haven't done this before, but an example of creating one using the SP_ADDLINKEDSERVER stored procedure through T-SQL is below. If your account doesn't have access to the other server the SP_ADDLINKEDSRVLOGIN stored procedure will need to be used to configure the linked server with an account that has the appropriate permissions on the source server, as well as database and any referenced objects. While using the linked server syntax (4 part name) is simpler and easier to read, I'd strongly recommend doing the insert with OPENQUERY instead if only one linked server will be used. This will execute the SQL on the source server, applying any filters there and only return the necessary rows, whereas the linked server syntax will return all the rows before performing the filtering. You can read more about the differences between the two here. You indicated the database name is the same on both servers, and this assumes the same for the table and schema names as well. Make sure to update these accordingly if they differ.
If a large volume of the data will imported or if this will be a regular process creating an SSIS package and setting this to run as a SQL Agent job will be the better approach. If you choose to go this route there are a number of things to consider, but the links below will help you get started. SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) is where the packages can be developed. While not necessary, executing the packages from the SSIS Catalog, SSISDB, will be much more beneficial than just the using the file system. Either an OLE DB or SQL Server Destination can be used since the table that's being loaded to is on SQL Server, however a SQL Server Destination can only be used on a local database.

I think this requires a very simple SSIS package to be achieved:
Create two OLEDB Connection manager; one for each server
Add a data flow task
Inside the Data flow task addan OLEDB Source and OLEDB destination
In the OLEDB source (172.16.50.98 connection manager) select SQL command as Access mode and use the following command:

FROM Quote.dbo.Marcatura
where DataCreazione >'2019-01-08 18:37:28.773'

I try to create a pretty complex database on ms Access 2013, so I wanted to type it directly in SQL. It has no errors, as other DBMS can fully build the database from the script I wrote (for example, phpmyadmin imports it with no difficulty).
On this tutorial, it is showed how to write a SQL query in order to build tables. I thought this way matched well with my goal as I could copy-paste my script in the query and run it to create the whole thing.
But when I tried to open/double-click on the query a pop-up appears saying "Select data source", waiting for me to select an ODBC, either from a file or a host, before continuing and executing the query.
I tried other types of queries (creating only one table at time, trying on a blank file, or even SELECT * FROM *), bt this message keeps showing up and I really don't know how to deal with it as I don't want to connect to anything but the infile database.
Does anyone got a hint about what to do in this case?
Or, even better, how could Access import my SQL script in order to create the database?
You should configure the database connection in the ODBC and check whether the connection is established or not. Once the connection is established, you can run the query to fetch the data or create tables as per your requirement.
I’m trying to copy a SQL Server table, schema and data, from Server A to Server B. The SQL Server table is just a reference table which hasn't been populated for some reason on Server B. Can anyone advise how the entire table could be copied across please? On SQL Server 2000/2005.
So far we've tried a long-winded approach by copying the .mdf and .ldf files from Server A to Server B with a plan to then copy the table across into the Server B database but we are having some difficulty re-attaching the database to Server B.
Please can anyone help?

Using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS):
In Object Explorer right click on source database name, Tasks.. -> Generate Scripts.. - opens Generate and Publish Scripts dialog. Click Next to choose objects, choose "Select specific DB objects", expand Tables, choose your table. Next, setup script destination, for example New query window and (important step!!) - click Advanced, and set "Types of data to script"="Schema and data" and "Script USE DATABASE"=False, OK, Next, Next, .. wait .. Finish. Now you have got complete SQL script to reproduce this table with data. Connect to destination DB and run it.
Tested with SSMS 2014, but as I recall this feature should be available starting from SSMS 2005.
you can use the import/export data wizard in management studio, the wizard will create for you a new table in the server B with the same structure of the table in the server A. before using it you need to have at least one database in sever B.
This confirms why this is one of favourite forums.

Interestingly Generate Scripts works with SQL Express perfectly but the Export method does not save unless you have at least SQL Server Standard Edition.

Try this:
SELECT * INTO destination FROM source
But, it will not copy the indexes and key information or you can also try import/export data task from SSMS.
I have a sql query that pulls in form multiple tables, how can I run that query to import into an excel sheet?
I presume that's 'from multiple tables'. In Excel got to the Data menu > Get External Data > From Other Sources > From Microsoft Query and open an ODBC connect. If you can't get the query right in Microsoft Query declare it as a View in your Database and of course you need an ODBC connection to the database

I am trying to insert rows into a MySQL database from an Access database using SQL Server 2008 SSIS.

The problem is with the delimiters. I am using the 5.1 ODBC driver, and I can connect to MySql and select a table from the ADO.Net destination data source.
The MySql tables all show up delimited with double-quotes in the SSIS package editor:
"shipto addresses"
Removing the double quotes from the "Use a table or view" text box on the ADO.NET Destination Editor or replacing them with something else does not work if there is a space in the table name.
When SSIS puts the Insert query together, it retains the double quotes and adds single quotes.
The error above is shown when I click on "Preview" in the editor, and a similar error is thrown when I run the package (albeit then from the actual insert statement).
I don't seem to have control over this behavior. Any suggestions? Other package types where I can hand-code the SQL don't have this problem.
Sorry InnerJoin, I had to take the accepted answer away from you. I found a workaround here:
The solution is to reuse the connection for all tasks, and to turn ANSI quotes on for the connection before you do any inserts, with an Execute Sql task that runs the following:
set sql_mode='STRICT_TRANS_TABLES,NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,
NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION,ANSI_QUOTES'
Try using square brackets around the table names. That may help.
EDIT: If you can, I would create views (with no spaces) based on the Access tables, and use those to export. Even if it means building another Access database with linked tables, I think this is your best bet.
I've always struggled with using SSIS with MYSQL directly. Even after installing the ODBC drivers, they just don't play well in data flows. I've always ended up creating linked ODBC connections between SQL Server and MYSQL. I then rely on linked server queries to bring over data. Instead of using a SSIS data flow task, I use an Execute SQL command, usually in the form of a stored procedure that executes an OPENQUERY.
One solution you could do is load the data into a SQL Server database and use it as a staging environment before you load it into the MYSQL database. I regularly move data between SQL Server 2008 and MYSQL and in the past I use to regularly move data between Access and SQL Server.
Another possible solution is to transform the incoming Access data before it loads into the MYSQL database. That may give you a chance to clean up the column names and the actual data that's going through to MYSQL.
Let me know if either of these work for you.
You can locate the configuration setting file my.ini at <<Drive>>:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\my.ini and add "ANSI_QUOTES" to sql-mode.
e.g: sql-mode="STRICT_TRANS_TABLES,NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION,ANSI_QUOTES". This should solve the issue while previewing in the SSIS editor.
