React-native app with expokit crash on android release build - react-native

Application is created with expo and detached to expokit. I'm using expoKit version 27.
It crashes only on first install, after refreshing app works as expected.

It's probably a late answer, but the correct workaround is here such that you have to run the Javascript packager first with the command expo start, after that you can start building with Android Studio.

Where can I source help for native crashes of an expo EAS apk build

I am building an app using react-native on Expo and making sure to build with EAS every few days or whenever I add a new dependency.
After every build, I install the apk on an Android device and run the ios build on a simulator.
On my latest build, the build completes successfully but after installing the apk on android 10, the app opens and crashes once I navigate to a certain page.
It works fine on 3 other android phones.
The code difference between the last successful build that doesn't crash to the current one is minimal however very necessary for the app.
How can I see logs from the native crash in order to find the cause of the problem and hopefully find a fix?
I tried to install sentry but at the bottom of the page, it explains it only follows js issues and is not native.
Any ideas will be helpful
Thanks

framework version upgrade causing problem to my project

I was building a react native project and got an upgrade message when I run "yarn run ios":
simctl[5640:1381079] CoreSimulator detected version change. Framework version (857.14) does not match existing job version (857.13). Attempting to remove the stale service in order to add the expected version. error Could not get the simulator list from Xcode. Please open Xcode and try running project directly from there to resolve the remaining issues. SyntaxError: Unexpected token I in JSON at position 0、
However, after this upgrade, there is something wrong with my project. Any suggestion how to back to the old version?
I tried to use other version of ios simulator and tried to clean the xcode build, but its not help.
I ran into a similar issue. The trick was
Quit all iOS simulators
Let Xcode install the newest iOS simulators
Run the project from the Xcode workspace.
After that I was able to start the simulator again from npx react-native run-ios --simulator='iPhone 14' or yarn run iOS

Why does my Expo app run in Expo Go but not as a development build?

I've created a development build of an Expo app using EAS. Previously I would open the app in Expo Go by running npx expo start and scanning the Metro Bundler QR code.
Now, when I try to do the same thing, Expo Go asks whether I want to open the project in Expo Go or as a "Development Build". It works fine in Expo Go, but crashes immediately when I attempt to open the dev build. The error reads:
null is not an object (evaluating '_ReanimatedModule.default.createNode')
This error is suspiciously similar to one that I encountered earlier in development, which I resolved by downgrading to React Native version 0.69.6. I'm also encountering a second error that says "'main' has not been registered", but I suspect this is downstream of the first error.
I have the same issue when I try to run the app with npx expo start --dev-client.
Any ideas why I might be having this problem?
It sounds like you may have run expo prebuild (https://docs.expo.dev/workflow/prebuild/) which removes "main": "node_modules/expo/AppEntry.js", from app.json. Try to create a new expo app and look at it's app.json file.
When you run expo prebuild it changes a few things with your project (see "side effects" in the prebuild docs).
I'm actually working through some issues with that right now too. I thought I had to run prebuild but turns out I didn't have to. Ever since I ran it my app will not load via the dev-client way. I can however switch back to npx expo start (NOT npx expo start --dev-client, see the scripts section of app.json as that is also changed when prebuild is run).
Let me know if you are able to get your app to load after re-adding the main stuff to app.json.
Ps, are you by chance using react-native-google-mobile-ads?

Metro Bundler not running: After upgrading react native version

I have upgraded my app from React Native version 0.57 to 0.60.0 but after executing react-native run-android, the configurations in gradle executes successfully, but metro bundler isn't launched. And app crashes immediately after that.
You should try to use:
react-native upgrade --legacy=true
Beware that it will ask if you want to replace current android/ios files for new ones and then it will rebuild them.
Also, you need to check if your old dependencies are available on autolink, and if not you can try to link them.

React Native Expo app - unable to open app in iOS emulator

I want to run my React Native app in the iOS emulator. Here is what I done so far:
I installed XCode, along with its command line tools, and can bring up the emulator without issue.
I created an empty React Native app using the Expo CLI, per the instructions here. https://facebook.github.io/react-native/docs/getting-started. I am running on Node v10.0.0 on a Mac.
Afterwards I install all the necessary dependencies.
I then run "sudo npm run ios". This fires up the Metro Bundler as well as the iOS simulator. The Simulator loads up after about 5 minutes of waiting, but my app does not start up.
What am I missing here?
I should note that I prefer to stick with Expo, so I'd prefer not to have to eject.
