Clicking through a jquery dropdown menu using VBA / href=javascript:void(0) - vba

I'm trying to make a macro that logs into a website, and starts pulling reports. Problem is, as I'm parsing through the html, I see a button exactly like the one on this page: https://www.exratione.com/2011/12/a-dark-style-for-chosen-selects/
where the href is a java void and the class is a generic "chzn-single" same as that website's button.
Any suggestions?
I'm trying this but no luck:
Set Clickme = IE.document.getElementsByClassName("chzn-single chzn-default")(0)
Clickme.Click
Also, which I don't think makes much sense:
IE.Document.getElementById("typeSelector").Value = "Revenue"
IE.Navigate "javascript:void(0)"

You haven't provided any HTML to go with this. If it is like that which you are showing in the other link then IE.document.getElementsByClassName("chzn-single chzn-default")(0) won't work because the class name is incorrect. It should be just chzn-single.
For the page you have linked, there are two clickable links with class of chzn-single.
I would use a CSS class selector to target them:
For the first:
IE.document.querySelector("a.chzn-single").Click
For the second:
IE.document.querySelectorAll("a.chzn-single").item(1).Click

How can I check that a dropdown field is disabled using selenium?

I am trying to write a function in selenium to check if a Reasons dropdown is showing as disabled, but can't quite get the xpath right. The code for the dropdown is in the pic, the function I'm working on is the second one (InputDisabled), having based it on the working first one (SearchDisabled):
` public By SearchDisabled(string searchId) => By.XPath($"//div[#id='{searchId}']//div[contains(#class, 'v-input--is-disabled')]");
public By InputDisabled(string inputId) => By.XPath($"//div[#id='{inputId}']//div[contains(#class, 'v-input--is-disabled')]");`
The inputId going into it is 'ai-confirm-allergy-modal-reason'. I've tried it as 'input[contains...' and 'contains(#disabled, 'disabled'...' among other things, but my xpath knowledge isn't great yet!
dropdown code
Use below code
String value = driver.findElement(By.XPath("//input[contains(#id, 'ai-confirm-allergy')]").getAttribute("disabled");
Assert.AssertEquals(value, "disabled");
I do not quite get your question.
well if you are trying to use xpath to locate an element, you can just use the id; assuming that it is unique.so:
driver.findElement(By.xpath("//input[contains(#id, 'ai-confirm-allergy')]")
should locate the webelement.
However, your xpath for the SearchDisabled is locating a div containing class 'v-input--is-disabled' with in another div with id of '{searchId}';
the same logic goes for the next one. your xpath is trying to locate a div containing class 'v-input--is-disabled' which is located with in another div located using input id. I don't think this combination can locate the element highlighted in the picture.

selenium python how to find and click element that change everytime

im trying to find an element with dinamic values , for example <span class="ms-Button-label label-175" id="id__177">Save</span> in inspect element, the id and class values tend to change for every refresh, how can i in this case find the element in selenium? i tried troguht xpath but seems doesnt work because can not find the path, i was thinking to find "Save" world torught always find by xpath but actually i dont know if im doing well : driver.find_element_by_xpath(//span(#.... but then? how can insert element if it changes everytime? thanks!
Something like this may work:
driver.find_element_by_xpath('//span[text()="Save"]')
But this will fail, if there is more than one button with text "Save" on the page.
In that case you may try to find some specific outer element (div, form, etc.) which does not change and contains the button. Then find the button inside of it.
With few requests with driver:
specific_div = driver.find_element_by_id("my_specific_div")
button = specific_div.find_element_by_tag_name("span") # e.g. there is only one span in that div
Or with more specific xpath:
button = driver.find_element_by_xpath('//div[#class="some-specific-class"]/span[text()="Save"]')
If needed, search for more nested elements before the button, so you can get more narrow search field.

How can I focus to a specific item which is in the bottom of the page in IDE

I am trying to select a specific item in a page which is at the bottom of the page. I want to verify that element is present and the same time I want to focus to that specific item.
How can I do this in the Selenium IDE?
I tried storeEval, but its specific co-ordinated which I don't want. I am looking for some dynamic command. I tried using css:.groupTile:contains("Concentrated") but the focus is not going to that particular item (Concentrated).
Can someone help me with Command, Target and value please?
CSS Selectors have many formats
i) Using id. Put this in Target: css=tag#id
tag = the HTML tag of the element being accessed,
id = the ID of the element being accessed
ii) Using class. Put this in Target: css=tag.class
tag = the HTML tag of the element being accessed,
class = the class of the element being accessed
In value you enter name of the item.

Need a Hyperlink control to do several things at once

On my site I have a DataList full of image thumbnails. The thumbnails are HyperLink controls that, when clicked, offer an enlarged view of the source image (stored in my database).
My client wants a facebook Like button on each image and I was hoping to put that in the lightbox window that appears when you click on a thumbnail.
My challenge here is that to generate the info for the Like, I need to create meta tags and each image should, preferably, create it's own meta tags on the fly.
What I can't figure out is how to make the HyperLink click open the lightbox AND create the meta tags at the same time.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The way that we approach similar problems is to hook the onclick event of the href in javascript.
Depending on exactly what you need to do, you can even prevent the standard browser behavior for the hyperlink from executing by returning false from the javascript method.
And in some cases, we just use the hyperlink for "show" by setting the href to "#".
Here is an example that combines all of these concepts:
File Name
In this case, the specified javascript is executed, there is no real hyperlink, and the browser doesn't try to navigate to the specified URL because we return false in the javascript.
Add a Classname to the opening table tag like class="tbl_images" so we can use JQuery to access it. Capture the click on the td and pickup the id of the item. Pass that id to your code as required to generate your meta tags. In the following when the user clicks on an anchor in a td, a function will run.
I use this all the time to access attributes in the td so i can run a function. You could use something like this to pickup values from your image/anchor and create something...
$("#tbl_images > tbody > tr ").each(function () {
//get the id of the tr (if required)
var id = $(this).attr("id");
var ImageTitle = $(this).find("img.Image_Class_Name").attr("title");
//on click of anchor with classname of lighthouse run function,
//passing in our id or other data in the row to our function
$(this).find("td: > a.lighthouse").click(function () {
//update script for this record
MyFunction(id,ImageTitle);
});
});

What is an HTMLSelectElement and an HTMLInputElement?

I'm attempting to learn VBA by reading through someone's code and understanding what happens every step of the way. However, I'm confused at to what these two elements are:
What is a HTMLSelectElement?
What is a HTMLInputElement?
See the W3C HTML Specs:
HTMLSelectElement
HTMLInputElement
I assume they correspond to select and input HTML tags. A select tag is also called a drop-down list, and input tags can be used for multiple things (checkbox, radio button, text, password).
