Xamarin.Forms - Looking for a Popover - xaml

I'm working in a Xamarin.Forms project (iOS & Android) that needs something similar to the Bootstrap Popover. I didn't find something similar in the docs.
Q:
Does anyone know a Nuget Package or something similar that in order to include that UI component to a Xamarin.Forms project?
PS: Yes, I tried searching in Google and I could not found a solution.

I think Rg.Popup is a good solution...
// Use these methods in PopupNavigation globally or Navigation in your pages
// Open new PopupPage
Task PushAsync(PopupPage page, bool animate = true) // Navigation.PushPopupAsync
// Hide last PopupPage
Task PopAsync(bool animate = true) // Navigation.PopPopupAsync
// Hide all PopupPage with animations
Task PopAllAsync(bool animate = true) // Navigation.PopAllPopupAsync
// Remove one popup page in stack
Task RemovePageAsync(PopupPage page, bool animate = true) // Navigation.RemovePopupPageAsync

Try out CPOP. It's a popup plugin for Xamarin.Forms (iOS, Android, UWP). It's not the prettiest of the popups, but you can modify the colors. (Also, I think this is the only popup plugin available out there)
NuGet Package: https://www.nuget.org/packages/Calvagna.CPop/
Hope it helps!

I'd try SlideOverKit, it might do more than you need, but it has a nice range of ways of doing popover type things.

How to access components inside a custom ToolWindow from an action?

I have registered an action in the EditorPopupMenu (this is right click menu). I also have a bunch of components inside a ToolWindow (that I designed using the GUI Designer plugin) that I want to update the values of.
There have been some posts on the IntelliJ forums about this, and the typical answer seems to advice using the ToolWindow's ContentManager, and obtain the JPanel containing all your components. E.g. the following:
Project p = e.getProject();
ToolWindow toolWindow;
toolWindow = ToolWindowManager.getInstance(p).getToolWindow("My ToolWindow ID");
ContentManager contentManager = toolWindow.getContentManager();
JPanel jp = (JPanel) contentManager.getContent(0).getComponent();
This feels counterintuitive... Having to navigate inside JPanel's to find a bunch of components. What if I decided to put my components inside a different container? Suddenly the way I navigate to my components would break down.
Is it really the most practical way to constrain myself to the way my GUI is built? Can't I access these components in a different way?
I found a way to access my custom myToolWindow. This should help quite some people.
Make sure that your custom MyToolWindow extends the class SimpleToolWindowPanel.
In your custom myToolWindowFactory class, pass your custom MyToolWindow to ContentFactory.createContent() as the first argument. NOT one of the JPanel's inside MyToolWindow as is done in the ToolWindow examples given in the official IntelliJ documentation...
In your MyToolWindow constructor, call the method setContent(<YourJPanelContainingYourComponents>).
I found the answer by experimenting on example 5 from this link:
public JBTabbedTerminalWidget getTerminalWidget(ToolWindow window) {
window.show(null);
if (myTerminalWidget == null) {
JComponent parentPanel = window.getContentManager().getContents()[0].getComponent();
if (parentPanel instanceof SimpleToolWindowPanel) {
SimpleToolWindowPanel panel = (SimpleToolWindowPanel) parentPanel;
JPanel jPanel = (JPanel) panel.getComponents()[0];
myTerminalWidget = (JBTabbedTerminalWidget) jPanel.getComponents()[0];
} else {
NotificationUtils.infoNotification("Wait for Freeline to initialize");
}
}
return myTerminalWidget;
}

Disable the back button in navigation bar

I need to get rid of only the arrow in the navigation bar in Xamarin forms. I tried in but I didn't get a proper solution. please help me overcome this issue. Thanks in advance.
!! I NEED TO REMOVE PERMANENTLY
solutions that I'm tried up to now :
Shell.SetBackButtonBehavior(this, new BackButtonBehavior
{
IsEnabled=false
});
but still, this didn't help me
There is a easy workaround to solve this.
You could override a Icon with a transparent png file(Follow is a transparent png):
and set enabled be false as follows:
Shell.SetBackButtonBehavior(this, new BackButtonBehavior
{
IconOverride = "transparent.png",
IsEnabled = false
}) ;
Then the effect as follows:
Note: You will see that we also can tap that area, therefore we need to set enabled be false.
Based on this official sample to test that.
You can set this using the Xamarin.Forms.NavigationPage class, from within a view's code behind file. E.g. within a ContentPage's constructor.
NavigationPage.SetHasBackButton(this, false);

iOS Navigation Bar Prefers Large Titles Scroll Behaviour

In iOS 11 the system apps all compress the navigation bar as you scroll down if you enable prefersLargeTitles:
I can't figure out how to implement this in my own apps though, the bar stays the same by default:
The only thing I can see is Hide Bars On Swipe, but that hides the whole bar rather than compressing it:
This is just an empty project created in Xcode 9 beta and with a new storyboard added.
What do I need to do to get the same behaviour as the system apps?
Don't set anything regarding Large Titles in Interface Builder / Storyboard, only in code. That worked for me.
So in the navigation bar in storyboards, Prefers Large Titles unchecked.
In your view controller:
self.navigationController?.navigationBar.prefersLargeTitles = true
It seems like this issue is happening to people for different reasons. None of the above answers helped me, but here's what DID work...
I deconstructed my app to find the cause, which was the view hierarchy in the storyboard. It appears that the UITableView view HAS to the the first view in your view controller. I had a UITableView with two UIImageViews behind it and that's what was causing the issue. Once I removed those UIImageViews everything worked correctly.
My fix: I ended up creating a UIView in code, adding my two image views to that, THEN adding that UIView to the UITableview.backgroundView.
Hope this helps someone.
If you have to target older iOS versions, you’ll also have to wrap the assignment in an availability check:
if #available(iOS 11, *) {
self.navigationController?.navigationBar.prefersLargeTitles = true
}
if #available(iOS 11.0, *) {
navigationController?.navigationBar.prefersLargeTitles = true
navigationController?.navigationBar.topItem?.title = "Hello"
navigationController?.navigationItem.largeTitleDisplayMode = .automatic
let attributes = [
NSAttributedStringKey.foregroundColor : UIColor.red,
]
navigationController?.navigationBar.largeTitleTextAttributes = attributes
} else {
// Fallback on earlier versions
}

UWP Page Transition Animations

I programing in Windows 10 UWP.
I have a Frame in Xaml that I would like to have the Page/Content to slide left and off screen when the use navigates away from the page to another page. Any Idea how to do Frame Navigation Animations?
Try to use build-in animation:
protected virtual void SetUpPageAnimation()
{
TransitionCollection collection = new TransitionCollection();
NavigationThemeTransition theme = new NavigationThemeTransition();
var info = new ContinuumNavigationTransitionInfo();
theme.DefaultNavigationTransitionInfo = info;
collection.Add(theme);
this.Transitions = collection;
}
Call this method in Page's constructor and you will find that there will be animation when you enter or leave a Page.
There are few build-in animations which names end with Info, you should try them by yourself.
There's a built-in way to do this, but that only supports a set of not customizable animations / page transitions.
If you want to do custom animations you'll need to implement your own Frame + Page subclasses, where your Pages contain their own entrance/leaving animations and your Frame calls these when navigating.

Titanium: How to remove background of Search bar?

How can I remove the background of search bar ? I tried by changing background color but it also changes cancel button's color !!!
Thanks...
The best alternative to this is creating a custom search bar with Ti.UI.textField and Ti.UI.button. Add them both to a view and customize it as you please. Finally, just add an event listener to the button click, and voila!
Take a look at this Module: https://github.com/viezel/NappUI
It extends the properties for several UI Elements, including SearchBar, here is the list.
SearchField BackgroundImage
Custom Cancel button
barColor - background gradient of the button. (similar to navbar)
color - color of the button title
title - change the default Cancel text
font - set the font of the button
Appearance of the keyboard
Disable the search icon
To install it, I recommend you to use the new gitTio command line, this will automatically download the module, install it on the modules folder on Application Support folder and add the proper config line on tiapp.xml.
gittio install -g dk.napp.ui
And here is an example of a SearchBar using the new properties enabled by this Module
var searchBar = Ti.UI.createSearchBar({
searchFieldBackgroundImage:"searchbg.png",
showsScopeBar:true,
scopeButtonTitles:["hello", "yes"],
customCancel:{
barColor:"#333",
color:"#ddd",
title:"Hit me",
font:{
fontSize:16,
fontWeight:"bold",
fontFamily:"Georgia"
}
},
appearance:Titanium.UI.KEYBOARD_APPEARANCE_ALERT,
barColor:"transparent",
disableSearchIcon:true //disables the search icon in the left side
});
If you are talking about the gradient blue, I removed it on my app with:
var searchBox = Ti.UI.createSearchBar({
barColor: '#eee'
});
Hope this helps.
Unfortunately 'barColor' doesn't work. Ti seems to change the color by changing the opacity or hue or something. DannyM's workaround is the best.
I must have wasted a zillion hours making sense of Titanium's background colors, background images, bar colors and their active/inactive cousins.
Conclusion: "Free" software is costly if you count the time you waste on silly bugs and lack of useful documentation.
