Not sure if this is a huge issue, but I am not completely sure a solution exists to this.
When creating a slideshow style element, where upon tap you image changes to another image (already prefetched using React Native's image prefetcher) there is this white flash when the screen re-renders (I think?).
Has there been a concrete solution to this? I can't figure out how something like say a snapchat story manages to render a new image completely instant
Has anyone ever done this? is the strategy to just load one image on top of another?

I'm looking for a solution, if possible a library or a custom component, for React Native, without Expo.
I need to create a video frame that is movable in the screen, up and down, and cover the content. I also need to make it possible to click on the content behind it.
Another difficulty is that I need it to stay up on all screens during navigation.
I first tried to use reanimated-bottom-sheet with some increments, but the content behind the bottom is not clickable. Also, to make it available on all screens I needed to put in at the same level as React Navigation's BottomTabNavigator and it covers the tab bar too even with a zIndex.
I also tried to use modals, but I'm relatively new to React Native and couldn't find how to make the background touchable as well as making it movable.
I guess I need to make a view with absolute positionning and learn Reanimated, unless you have a simpler idea?

I have the same component in multiple screens, which I navigate to through React navigation. I'm using Tabnavigator.
On the first screen, the View containers move around if the text is too long. I have a fixed flex-size on my view containers, but it doesn't take that into consideration. The strange is, it's only on the first screen. A gif to show you what I mean.

I've checked if it's because of the scrollview I have, and I was inconsistent with my design on the scrollviews. but they all have the same styling.
What the heck is going on?

If i make my application screen on nexus4 emulator screen and wanted to see it on small screen phones, would it be necessary to use scrollview instead of View in react-native.
In some cases yes, because scaling everything according to the screen size will make the app elements look extremely tiny on some devices and text will be hard to read. I had a similar issue where I scaled every screen according to the device resolution and customers complained about not being able to read on small devices.
What I did was wrap such screens in a ScrollView, then put a View inside it with a minHeight: screenHeight then put elements with flexbox and fixed size inside it. This way it would fit most screens perfectly and on smaller ones it would still look good enough. You should experiment a little to see what works best for your app.
I've implemented a React Native component which shows an image loaded from a remote server. The user can swipe the image out of the screen in order to navigate to the next image which is again loaded from the remote server. While loading of the second image, the old image is still visible on the screen.
I want the old image to disappear while loading the next image. Any hint how to achieve this?
Prop defaultSource only works for initial render (showing the first image) but not consecutive images. So I guess React reuses the Image under the hood. I've played around with onLoadStart and onLoadEnd but I don't know how to reset the source of the old image.
Any idea?

Add a unique key prop to each image. It can be a number or a string. That will prevent React from re-using the elements.

I already did the animated splash screen with images but here I want to add custom animation like something is drawn on screen etc.
