I have installed Oracle SQL Developer 11g and I have created many connections and I try to create user which will have access on only one specified connection
How can i do that?
You need to create a profile that limits the number of sessions:
create profile only_one_connection
limit sessions_per_user 1;
Then you need to alter the user and assign that profile to the user:
alter user only_one
profile only_one_connection;
This assumes you have already created the user only_one and granted the create session privilege. You can also assign the profile when creating the user

I am trying to create a contained user for just one database in Azure SQL Server,
I have tried using the sp_configure keyword, it says it is not available in the version of the SQL Server I am using.
Also, I used the Alter database statement, I got the error below:
ALTER DATABASE statement failed; this functionality is not available
in the current edition of SQL Server.
Please, how can I solve this problem???
You do not need to run the ALTER DATABASE ... SET CONTAINMENT command on Azure SQL DBs to accept contained users - it is already enabled by default. You simply need to create the user with just a login and password. A simple example of a contained user with password:
CREATE USER yourUser WITH PASSWORD = 'yourPassword';
See the official documentation for more examples:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/statements/create-user-transact-sql?view=sql-server-ver15#e-creating-a-contained-database-user-with-password
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/statements/create-user-transact-sql?view=sql-server-ver15#f-creating-a-contained-database-user-for-a-domain-login
sp_configure is not supported in Azure SQL database, even use the Alter database:
In Azure SQL database, login is used to login the Azure SQL server, user is to connect to the database. User is database level, and login is server level.
Create login in master DB(( Login must be created in master DB)):
CREATE LOGIN AbolrousHazem
WITH PASSWORD = '340$Uuxwp7Mcxo7Khy';
Then we can create user in user DB( create the database contained user in user DB):
CREATE USER AbolrousHazem FOR LOGIN AbolrousHazem;
GO

i want to create a user in oracle 12c but i have a problem.after i enter my user name and psw, this warning displatyed: ORA-65096: invalid common user or role name
If you see this error then first you need to alter the session for oracle 12c:
alter session set "_ORACLE_SCRIPT"=true;
after running above command you can create the user. it will work for sure.
CREATE USER your_username IDENTIFIED BY your_password;
Connect first to your pluggableDB
CONN system/systempassword#//localhost:1521/pluggabledatabase
Than you can create your user:
create user marcopolo identified by marco9274;
Note:
You must have created the database as a container database. While, you are trying to create user in the container, i.e. CDB$ROOT, however, you should create the user in the PLUGGABLE database.
You are not supposed to create objects in the container, the container holds the metadata for the pluggable databases. You should use the pluggable database for you general database operations. Else, do not create it as container, and not use multi-tenancy.
See (error: ORA-65096: invalid common user or role name in oracle)
connect system/manager as sysdba
alter session set "_ORACLE_SCRIPT"=true;
create user your_user_name identified by your_password;
grant dba to your_user_name;
I have a group login which has the Server Role "dbcreator". Users of this login has been granted execute on "sp_delete_database_backuphistory" so that they can delete each others databases. The problem now is that it is possible for these users to delete databases created by other logins. Is there a solution for this? Can permissionĀ“s be set, so that these users ONLY can delete databases created with this login?
You can't do this directly, but you can wrap the system sp_delete_database_backuphistory into your own usp_delete_database_backuphistory
that can call sp_delete_database_backuphistory or return immediately depending on a result of the check you want to perform.
I cannot ask you in a comment what do you mean saying 'databases created by other users', first of all only login (not user) can create a database but this information (db creator) you cannot extract from any system metadata, all you can get is the current database owner and this can differ from database creator.
I mean, when you create a database you can explicitly assign other login to own the database, or you can do this later for certain purposes
I have a user set up in SQL Server Management Studio whose user mapping is set so they can only access the 'ReportServer' database.
When I connect to my SQL Server through MS Word, I am given the following options for databases to connect to:
enter image description here
I do not want this user to have access to, or even be able to see the master, tempdb or msdb databases, and I have not got them selected in the user mapping for this user. How can I set it up so the user can't see these databases?
Use DENY View..
DENY VIEW ANY DATABASE TO testuser;
Steps in general include..
1.Create login with default database
2.create user for that login in all databases
3.Deny view
DENY VIEW ANY DATABASE TO testuser;
step1:
//create login with default database
1.USE [master]
GO
CREATE LOGIN loginame FROM WINDOWS WITH DEFAULT_DATABASE='testdb'
GO
step2:
2.create user in all databases..
use testdb
create user username for loginname
Now You can assign Permissions to that user like read,write... and by default this user will be shown only one database..
Step3:
DENY VIEW ANY DATABASE TO testuser;--this should be repeated in all databases which you wish to hide from user..
if you have aleady existing login..Then you can change default login for that user like below..
Exec sp_defaultdb #loginame='login', #defdb='testdb'

I'm using the Oracle Database EX 11.2.0.2.0 and I hava a quite simple database created there.
Now the issue is i would like to have multiple users with different privileges set up. I have found that topic: How to create a user in Oracle 11g and grant permissions
but I cannot find anywhere the basic thing about users accounts:
what are the difference between creating system-leveled and particular database-leveled user?
I've logged in sqlplus as SYSTEM and executed the following commands:
CREATE USER TEST IDENTIFIED BY password;
GRANT CONNECT TO TEST;
and now the problem is that my databse is actually called let's say BASE with one table called PAYMENTS and to give any privileges to a newly created user I cannot execute:
GRANT SELECT ON PAYMENTS TO TEST;
but I have to type in:
GRANT SELECT ON BASE.PAYMENTS TO TEST;
so I suppose I missed something. Is it any way of connecting the created user to a particular database? So that the newly created user will be visible as a database user in Oracle APEX?
When referencing objects in other schemas, you must provide the schema name. An other user might have a table with the same name. Currently you are logged in with the system user, which is not advisable. When creating objects in the BASE schema (another name for user in de Oracle DB), why not give the user some extra rights (like granting privileges)?
The core of your problem is that you want to grant privileges to user A on object owned by B, logged in as user C. You have to be very specific in that case to Oracle what privileges are granted to whom ;)
Users and schemas are synonymous in Oracle - basically. A schema is the collection of objects owned by a user.
To get what you want, you would need to create users lacking the privs to create anything and only have the ability to select from the objects of others.
