Wallet pass fails to display if it has no images - passbook

I am trying to create an ios Wallet Event Ticket. I managed to give all the info I needed to create the pass.json and I have signed and zipped it. When I try to open this on a Mac, I am able to see the pass in the preview. When I email it and try to open it from an iPhone, the screen just goes to the main screen as if it crashed.
After lots of experimentation I found out that if I add at least one of t he images (icon) I am able to see it in preview and add it to the Wallet.
Since I do not care to add any image, this seems way too much just to make it work.
The question is, are images required in the pass? And if not, why does it not work without them. I repeat, it was displayed on Mac preview either with or without the image file.

Yes! manifest.json required the image correctly, moreover the pass.json also need to ensure everything is correct. Some elements must add in json for iPhone open, for example:serialNumber, webServiceURL, authenticationToken, relevantDate
Also, iPhone open .pkpass as difference format with mac. In my case , the signature file is wrong will also make the .pkpass file cannot open in iPhone.

In App Store Connect, app preview poster frame not saving

I've added some video app previews for my app on App Store Connect and when I set the video poster frame, it never saves the image that I want, it always reverts back to the one that Apple defaults to initially. Does anyone know a work around?
UPDATE: I did get in contact with App Store Connect and they told me it's a recent bug that they're actively working on fixing. I'm going to touch base with them early next week.
Issue is still happening. But if you want to be able to upload without problems try this:
Upload the screenshots of one complete language
Don't touch anything for 2-4 min once pictures are uploaded.
Then you can refresh the webpage and check if the screenshots are well uploaded.

Editing Video Effects panel on VLC for Mac

Ok so this question is actually in two parts.
I coded a video filter for VLC and I would like to add a control to the Video Effects panel on the OS X UI. So far I've been able to link my plugin the the UI by hijacking one of the existing controls, but this isn't ideal.
Now, if I open up the Xcode project (I'm running Xcode 6.3.1) and try to open the VideoEffect.xib file, I get the following error:
I tried to google this but it sounds like the only alternative would be to play archaeologist and dig up an old copy of Xcode 3. Is there any other way to be able to open this file and edit it somehow? I tried to look at the XML code but if I started to change that I'd do more damage than good.
The second thing I'd like to do is sending back values from the effect module to the UI. At the moment (by hijacking one of the existing sliders), all I can do is read a value from the panel with

and then, inside the callback function:

However, I haven't been able to write back the value. I'd like the filter to set p_sys->i_factor to a random value at start. This works (using var_SetInteger()), but it isn't reflected in the position of the slider in the Video Effect panel. I suspect I need to hack a bit deeper for that. Any ideas?
Regarding your first question with the xib-file. Consider downloading and using our forthcoming 3.0 code from git://git.videolan.org/vlc.git - it allows editing of said file without Xcode 3.
Regarding your second question, why would you want your video filter to interfere with the UI? This is not how the architecture of VLC works and there is no correct way to do it at this point. You would need to edit the core to do another global variable callback to ask the UI to reload the presented filter configuration.
Perhaps, if you give details about what your filter does and what you want to achieve, we find a more supported way :)

iOS app files that the user can download from the app

The idea is that i will create a file in the app and store some data in it.
I want for the end user to be able to download that file from the iOS device to his mac/pc.
Is this somehow possible? Where should i put the file for the user to be able to download it via itunes?

How to get the video file for a movie currently playing in browser?

So I have a youtube page open where I can watch a video.
But this video was taken down by the user. My open page still has the video, if you go to it again (refresh) the new page does not.
Since I have the video loaded in my browser tab (chrome), how can I go about finding the actual file and saving it?
In the old days of YouTube, it may have been possible to find the single video file on your harddrive and save it, but this is no longer the case. As explained in this Computerphile video, all YouTube videos are now split into tiny pieces and downloaded piece by piece.
You can observe this for yourself if you open up Chrome (or Firefox's) Dev Tools and watch the nnetwork tab. You'll see:
all of the pieces of the video loading bit by bit.
One additional thing you'll learn from the Network tab is that the videos are downloaded as octet streams, so you won't be able to find the links to the pieces hidden in the DOM.
One thing you migth try is, in the Network tab, clear the results and then move the cursor to the beginning of the video. You should see the streams come up again. Right click on the path name and then do a "save as", and save it as 0000.mp4 (or whatever), for all the pieces. You should be able to reassemble these pieces in any video editing software. I tested this by getting two pieces from a random YouTube video.
I couldn't find anything that doesn't require a restart (and hence reload) of Chrome.
One (kludgy) hack if possible, though, would be to run a screen video capture and play the video.
I have done this long back using IE6, i.e. fetch the file from the temporary files location and rename it to the extension flv.
The following links should point you in the right direction, but can't say it will work for sure, as I believe recent chrome versions seem to have a defensive cache implementation.

Run a screen recording/capture program such as:

Then edit out the youtube bar if its visible.
The buffered video is cached at the following location:
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp\flaxxxx.tmp
Note you have to change to whatever user you are using, and xxxx is a random number. Also, the .tmp file might be hidden, so make sure your windows explorer is displaying the hidden files.
While the tab is open, you won't be able to copy the file, but if you close it, the file will be automatically deleted. For doing so, download HoboCopy, extract it and after that, run cmd as administrator. Change the directory on the console to the directory where you have extracted HoboCopy and type the following command:
hobocopy C:\users\<user name>\Appdata\Local\Temp C:\videos fla1234.tmp
<user name> - replace with your windows username
C:\videos - the directory where you want the video to be copied to
fla1234.tmp - the name of the file to be copied.
Wait for the copy to be done and then you can rename the destination file, changing '.tmp' to '.flv'. This file can be played with any FLV supporting media player.

Video file is cached, therefore suggested ways can help you to save the file. But if you deal with same problems I offer using IDM(Internet Download Manager). After installation of this application for every online video stream (e.g. all flv files in youtube) IDM brings a small picture that you can click on it and downloading will be started automatically without need of any configuration.
You have to install a browser extension to download YouTube videos. You won't find a simple URL for an mp4 file in the HTML source. Try googling "youtube downloader" + your browser name.
As far as I recall, YouTube videos are not served as a continuous HTTP resource, but instead divided into small chunks and assembled client-side by the Flash player. This is why you can jump into the middle of a video, without having to buffer the first half of the video.
Generally speaking, YouTube don't want you to rip their content, so they aren't exactly making it easy for downloaders.

UIWebView disable location prompt

Is it possible to disable the location prompt (or auto decline/accept it) that pops up when you visit certain websites that ask for locations? I am not using a MKMapView because my app will be not be just viewing maps (it just may visit websites that might have maps on it).
I'm guessing since the prompt is not being controlled by my app, but by the iOS system, I probably will not be able to auto decline/accept the dialog.
As far as disabling the prompt from within an IOS app while loading a UIWebView, it is possible.
You will need to intercept the html before it gets loaded into the UIWebView then find which part of it triggers the GPS/Location Prompt. Once you found it, you simply remove it from the html then feed the html into the UIWebView thus 'disabling' the prompt. However, as a result, the webpage will be missing that element.
No, it's not possible to do that. Not with UIWebView, not with any iOS browser.
I know no way to prevent the prompt, I hope it will be implemented as a property of the UIWebView.
The dialog is not there for the safety of the user, when it comes to UIWebViews. The app containing the view has already asked for locations access, and it can be enabled and disabled on settings. To ask for location access both from the app and from the web view, I would regard as a bug.
