I am new to Access and acually to db's ,
I'm trying to perform a db for recording the results of a really huge survey. So far everything is ok but now that i am designing the Queries I am getting repeated results and I don't know why.
My SQL Statement is:
SELECT T_VALORACIO.IdValoracio, T_ENQUESTA.Treballador,
T_VALORACIO.IdValPreu
FROM (T_ALSECA INNER JOIN T_VALORACIO ON T_ALSECA.idTipus =
T_VALORACIO.idTipus) INNER JOIN T_ENQUESTA ON T_ALSECA.IdAlseca =
T_ENQUESTA.idAlSeca
WHERE (((T_ENQUESTA.Treballador)=True) AND ((T_VALORACIO.IdValPreu)=4));
I would expect getting the results that fit both cases, but the results that fit just the first case are also shown.

Try using instead:
SELECT DISTINCT
This removes duplicate rows.

i am trying to update a colleague's MS Access application (with vb-code). I am rather experienced in writing SQL queries but i am not able to solve the following problem.
The query i am looking to fix uses a pass-through-query's result and a local MS Access table and joins them togehter in the where-clause (i tried using the normal way with ON but it seems this doesn't work when there is a pass through query involved). I have little experience with joining tables in the where-clause but is there such a thing that i cant use certain columns (of both tables) in the where-clause when joining tables in the where-clause? -> When i use a filter criteria such as columnA <> 'somerandomtext' (which is always satisfied, just to point out the problem) the query result is empty. When i delete the latter criteria in the where clause, the query returns results (although too many because i cant filter them accordingly).
Furthermore: I checked the pass-through-query, the results are correct. I checked the MS-Access table, the data in the table is correct. Therefore, i think i might be doing something wrong in the query where i join the two mentioned above.
THIS QUERY WORKS AS INTENDED AND RETURNS RESULTS:

As mentioned before, i suspect that there are some limitations when joining via where-clause (although i didnt find sufficient information online).

First, apply the correct syntax for the date expressions:
WHERE t.tr_id=s.tr_id And t.is_booked='N' And t.pos_ekey <> 'BGGS' And t.value_date >= #2021-01-01# And t.value_date <= #2021-04-01#
Next, double-check the values for pos_ekey. For example, try to apply the filter, <> 'BGGS', directly on the field in table view.
I have a list of 2500 obj numbers stored in Excel for which I need to run the below SQL:
SELECT
a.objno,
a.table_comment,
b.queue_comment
FROM
aq$_queue_tables a
JOIN
AQ$_QUEUES b ON a.objno = b.table_objno
WHERE
a.objno = 19551;
Is there any way I can write a loop on above SQL with objno feeding from a list or from a different table? I also want to store/produce all the results from each loop run as a single output.
I considered the option to upload the numbers into a new table and add a where condition:
a.objno=(SELECT newtab.objectno FROM newtab);
However, the logic I'll be writing in the query would exclude certain objectno results. Let's say that the associated objectno has certain queue_comment as of certain date associated with that objectno. I do not want to pull that record. This condition would match with some objectno and wouldn't match with others. Having that condition and running the query against all the objectno is returning 0 results. I couldn't share the original logic as it would reveal certain business rules and it'll be a violation of some policy.
So, I need to run the query on each objectno separately and combine the results.
I'm totally new to SQL and got this task assigned. I'm aware of the regular loop, for in SQL, but I don't think I can apply them in this situation.
Any guidance or reference links to helpful topics is much appreciated as well.

One option is to upload the object numbers from Excel sheet to a table in the database and run the query as following. Assuming newtab is the table where the objectno are uploaded.
SELECT
a.objno,
a.table_comment,
b.queue_comment
FROM
aq$_queue_tables a JOIN AQ$_QUEUES b on a.objno = b.table_objno
WHERE
a.objno IN (SELECT newtab.objectno FROM newtab);
I have used a subquery here, join to the aq$ can work as well.
Reading the comments and all I think you need to enhance your Excel with 2 additional columns and load to a new table.
IN can be used in the following way too:
SELECT
a.objno,
a.table_comment,
b.queue_comment
FROM
aq$_queue_tables a
JOIN

Im getting back all results that match all fields, witch is correct, However when i apply the where clause at the end

CLIENT.ClientIdSubId = '48079'
I get back no results. Im confused as to why i dont get back any results when i apply the Where clause, but without it i get all the results and that ID number is apart of those results.

Your query is pretty simple. I can only see two possible issues:
There's no CLIENT with ClienIdSubId that is equal to '48079'.
There is a CLIENT with that criteria, but there's no matching row in CLIENTADDRESS, in CLIENTINDIVIDUAL, or CLIENTPRACTICE. Make sure there are matching rows on each table since you are using INNER JOINS.

I am trying to compare two tables in MS Access 2010, and select records from one table (tmp_import_table) which don't exist in the second table (referrals). This works fine with the following query:

However, I now need to add a second criteria to the WHERE clause in the query, and select only records which occur after a certain date, which is stored in referrals.referral_date (date/time field) I have written the following query:

FROM tmp_import_table LEFT JOIN referrals ON tmp_import_table.[F2] = referrals.[ext_referral_no]

But the query always ends with an empty dataset! I've tried all sorts of permutations of it, but always end up with the same empty result! In addition I've tried swearing, banging my head against the wall, and alcohol, but none of these seem to have worked either...
Can anybody spot an obvious problem with my query?

You are doing left join and selecting tmp_import_table.RefDate in the first query. But filtering by referrals.referral_date in the second one which may be/are NULLs. Change to:
....AND ((tmp_import_table.referral_date)>#9/10/2014#));
I am working on a massive join at work and have very limited resources in terms of being able to add indexes and such as well as what I can do in the query itself due to the environment (i.e. I can only select data, no variables or table creations allowed). I have read somewhere that a subquery will automatically index the result, is this true? Also for my major join tables (3) each has ~140K rows. I have to join 2 extra tables to ensure filtering is correct. I have the query listed below which I currently have criteria on the JOIN clause. Another question is if I move my criteria to a where clause either in or out of the subquery will it benefit?

This query works; however, it can take forever to run, and can timeout. I have other queries that also run in the environment and I will take whatever you can give me in terms of suggestions and apply it to those. I am using SQLServer 2000, Thanks for the help.

As stated in the comments I have to fill grids with limited flexibility and I believe that these grids fill by first filling a temporary grid with the SQL statement and then copying row by row into the desired grid. There is a good chance that this is the cause of my issues. Thanks for the help.

My 2 cents here.. In general LIKE is not very well optimized. In your case you also seem to be using LIKE with '%value%'. In that case the query optimizer has to scan the entire index. At a minimum I would see if there is a way to avoid using this.
