can i use jdeveloper with clearcase dynamic views? - ide

Jdeveloper (Oracle's Java IDE) has a clearcase plugin built by oracle too.
I have worked with it with clearcase snapshots everything works find.
My question is, how to use it with a dynamic view (I am on linux) ?
How do i "set view" with dynamic ?

First, check your ClearCase version: the Oracle jdeveloper ClearCase plugin are quite old.
This thread mentions that JDeveloper 11.1.2 would only support ClearCase 7.0.x, not 7.1.x or later.
But anyway, you can try and see if jdeveloper recognizes a view when using the full path of a dynamic view:
/view/view-tag/full-pathname
/view/myDynamicView/vobs/avob/...
In other words, you do not have to use cleartool setview (which I have always disliked anyway): you can point jdeveloper to the path of the dynamic view (provided the vob used by the config spec is mounted)

No support for Wildfly 9.0.0.Final in Intellij 12.1.6

When I add a new Application Server IntelliJ, pointing to the home path of the Wildfly 9.0.0.Final, IntelliJ shows me this warning:
"The selected directory is not a valid Jboss home"
Is this a question of Wildfly configuration someone from Wildfly team must fix or it is a question of too old IntelliJ or maybe the 'Jboss integration plugin' needs to be updated?
This is a a result of too old version of Intellij IDEA.
Or as you point out jboss integration plugin, which is bundled with IDEA itself.
There is also a trick to make IDEA belive it still supports newer version of WildFly.
We had it in place for some time in WildFly distro but was later removed as IDEA got official support for wildfly.
in short, this is the workaround https://github.com/wildfly/wildfly/blob/8.x/build/build.xml#L1551
all you need to do is to go to WILDFLY_HOME/modules/system/layers/base/org/jboss/as/version/main/ folder
and make copy of wildfly-version-xx.jar and rename the copy to jboss-as-version-xx.jar
where xx is the version of the wildfly.

Clear case - Eclipse integration

currently I am having following version of clear case on my local machine.
I downloded plugin "com.rational.clearcase.win32-20081031A" from url: "http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/clearcase/ccplugin/com.rational.clearcase.win32-20081031A.zip" which include following files in feature and plugin folders.
3.then I installed this plugin from eclipse Help->Software update-> search and install->given here local path of plugin folder which looks like following screen shot 4. It got installed on eclipse;but when I am trying tu connect through it it's giveing me following error.
can you please suggest whats going wrong in it?
That plugin won't work with CCRC (ClearCase Remote Client), only with a full base ClearCase installation.
CCRC comes with its own Eclipse interface, in which you will find all the necessary ClearCase commands.
If you want a CCRC plugin (which is different from the SCM Adaptor you have downloaded), you need to download it from your CCRC server, as I detail in your last question.

jpa libraries in Eclipse Indigo SR1

The Eclipse Indigo SR1 (on windows XP) has File/new/JPA project template etc. I see
some 9 persistence .jar-s under eclipse/Plugins directory( i did download of Eclipse
and
unzipped the eclipse , then ran it) . yet project/java build path/libraries shows none
of the JPA jar files. It shows just the Jre library .
When i try to compose a JPA entity class
all the JPA annotations are unresolved .Tried Help/install new softwarefrom Eclipselink
repository. It was completed ok but did not change anything .Instead I now have double
versions plugins under eclipse/Plugins - so I uninstalled the EclipseLink .
The cure was to download Eclipselink zip file , unzip it somewhereand add some
externals jar persistance jars from there to the java build path/libraries .
But that seems not the correct solution.
Also : when I right click project name /JPA tools /generate Tables from entities .
it says : "This is not supported by the generic platform" .
The other way : generate entities from tables works but not good for me .
Under the JPA tools I see only 3 options (also: 'make persistent'). Should'nt I
see more ?
Any advice what was wrong in the install /setup process?
EclipseLink site says to do download eclipselink.zip for Eclipse EE
, unzip and set the ECLIPSLINK_HOME environment to point to it - that does nothing to
the project 'java build path/libraries'.
Anyhow that does not seem the solution if JPA is integral part of the Indigo SR1 (or
not)?
In the New JPA Project wizard you can select your JPA implementation. I'd recommend setting the platform to EclipseLink (see 2 below ) and then you can either select a user defined library in the list box (if you have any defined) or you can download a version of EclipseLink using the download icon to the right of the list box and a user library will be defined for you. You can define a user library comprised of the EclipseLink plugins from the Eclipse plugins folder but it may be better to explicitly select a specific version for your project as the version in the plugins will change with future releases of Eclipse.
When you are in the New JPA Project wizard, select one of the EclipseLink versions as your platform--this will enable DDL generation as this is delegated to the runtime. You can also set this after the project is created on the JPA section of the project properties.

Clearcase plugin for eclipse usage

I am new to clearcase and software development using version control system. I am using clearcase for version management currently. I use eclipse IDE for software development.
I installed clearcase plugin for eclipse over the internet from sourceforge.net website. Some how the plugin does not work.
The softwares that i installed are: IBM Rational Clearcase 7.0, Eclipse Galileo 3.5 and clearcase 2.2.3 plugin for it.
I am not able to checkin or checkout files using the plugin. Can some one give me detailed/step-by-step procedure for using the plugins? What kind of environment to be setup?
You will find how top install the plugin in this SO question, but I would recommend the official IBM ClearCase for Eclipse plugin (7.5), not the sourceforge one.
If you see a ClearCase menu, the plugin is installed.
BUT: in order to be able to checkout a file within your project, you need to have it within a ClearCase view (snapshot or dynamic).
That means, the .project and .classpath needs to be right above your source directory, within your project. (And not in your workspace).
If only your sources are in a ClearCase view, but your .project and .classpath are 'elsewhere', then all the files within your project won't appear as ''versioned' (blue background) and you won't be able to checkout/checkin them.
You best bet is to use the IBM Rational ClearTeam Explorer (CTE) version 8.0.x, previously known as the ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) in version 7.x of ClearCase. CTE is an Eclipse plugin that ships with ClearCase.
In ClearCase version 7.x, CCRC only supports 'web views'. Web views are copy based views that communicate with the ClearCase server via http. They perform well in WAN environments.
In version 8.0, the ClearTeam Explorer (formerly CCRC) adds support for Dynamic views. In 8.0, the ClearTeam Explorer supports both Web and Dynamic views.
If you require Snapshot Views or are using a pre-8.0 version of ClearCase, you should use the ClearCase SCM Adapter plugin.
If you are unable see your view in the MyView of the eclipse. To resolve this issue you have to remove .ccase_wvreg_lockfile from currently logged in user profile.

Multiple JSTL Versions in Weblogic J2EE App

Thanks in advance for taking a look :)
I'm hard at work on a J2EE web app (in JDeveloper) and recently added some functionality that required JSTL, and I've hit a little bit of a snag. Whenever I try to deploy my war on Weblogic 11g, I get the following error on the console:
[02:05:43 AM] Must choose only one of
libraries: JSTL 1.0, JSTL 1.2.
I only have one instance of the JSTL library listed under my WebLogic deployments (1.2.0.1).
Here's what I've tried so far:
Google. I've got nothing.
Removing all files with the string JSTL in them, in both my Weblogic domain folder and my source folder
Removing all temp files stored by Weblogic
Rebooting :)
If you have any ideas on ways to squash this, I'd really love to hear them. Thanks!
The problem was that when I added the tags for JSTL in my JSP, JDeveloper suggested that it could automatically add JSTL to my ADF project. Thinking nothing bad could come of this, I let it do its thing and this added an older version of the JSTL to my web.xml file.
The key (I believe) is that I had to remove the web.xml file from my classes directory entirely or else my version of JDeveloper used the old one with the bad JSTL information.
After removing the corresponding jars and references to it and doing a clean rebuild I was good to go. Derp.
Thanks for the help though. :)
The JSTL library is available as a deployable library in Weblogic 11g (v10.3.1). If it is not deployed yet, you will have to deploy this onto a Weblogic domain before any application can reference it.
Once deployed, an application can reference the deployed JSTL library through a library reference in weblogic.xml - JSTL once deployed is available as a shared library.
Do keep in mind that using a different version of JSTL will require a solution far more complicated, especially if the JSTL library that came with Weblogic has been deployed.
