I need your help(s). I am currently working on my thesis topic proposal and I am planning to propose an inventory management system with analytics. I am asked by my thesis adviser to think what any other features can I add to my topic? In short , what's new with the inventory system I am going to develop? Any Suggestion? Thanks a lot!!!
Look at existing inventory management solutions:
Sage:
http://www.sage.co.uk/software-and-services/business-management-solutions/sage-x3/functionality#link6
Microsoft Dynamics:
http://www.xperienceitsolutions.co.uk/MicrosoftNAV/NAVSupplyChain/InventoryManagement/
These are both industry leading stock management and inventory solutions. Research these and it will give you an idea of what feautres to include.
Examples of features could be:
Multiple warehouses
Stock transfer quantity
Stock knock off
The next obvious thing would be to link the inventory to the sales and purchases so you can see what items have been sold historically and what items you need to reorder.

I am attempting to build a database for a company's payroll system. I have worked on an ERD and my main concerns revolve around the loops, reimbursement table and possible weak entities.
I haven't done much of these and could use your help.
Thanks.
Link to ERD: ERD for Payroll
I would probably change the user to user_login. and remove loan_payment and reimbursement and just simply have a payment table. This could hold similar values but also include a payment type that would include its values like 'reimbursement' or 'work payment' because like you said reimbursement doesn't need to be its own table.

I am about to develop a small cms\forum. Multiple customers are going to have there own access where the customers can communicate white them.
What is best practices- to make separate SQL db to each customer's cms data or one big to contain all the customers data?
As I cannot comment, so I can only type here.
It is strange that you would like to have separate database for each customer and it seems impossible to manage multiple db for just one purpose or function. For example, how could you identify which db belong to which customer? Also, do you expect to have many resource to allocate to each customer? a db simply waste if the customer is not active.
So, I suggest you to use one db to manage all the customers data which is normal solution.

I'm a web developer and mobile applications. I have several clients which I manage in a hosting service with whm panel. Now I want to start using Google Cloud. My question is whether it is better to create a project for each client or to create a single project with a lot of space and there to store all the pages and databases. Please help me with this because I do not know what is the best practice
From my experience,
If your customer pays a fixed price for hosting it does not matter.
If you charge "pay as you go" then a separate project is the only way you can know how much exactly to charge.
Like Ken says, it is very difficult to predict your needs with so little information. One point to keep in mind: if you ever plan to turn over ownership of the project to the client, then having a separate project for each client will make life so much easier.

I was recently asked the following question in an interview.
"How would you design a system to keep track of a million items at xyz.com ?
The xyz.com could update the prices maybe 2-3 times a day or once per month, so no guarentee on frequency.
Your system should show accurate prices for >95% of items at any given point of time and aim for 99%.
Also scale for 1billion items etc..
"
I asnwered along the lines of creating a distributed system app that would categorize items by priority (based on historical price fluctuations and 80/20 % rule etc) and do API calls more frequently for these.
But I was not allowed to use API calls.
I suggested scraping html content. (But the website can block my ip for such high load)
I basically want to know the resources that would help me anwering these type of questions. Prefer full length courses (Distributed systems ?) or books rather than quick-fix blogs.

I want to Develop a billing system in that i need item name, which comes from database (Combo box or Autosuggestion Type) When we Select the item Rate will come from database. after that when we enter qty the total will be displayed. after complete one line we can enter another. but i don't know how to deal with that which tool to use please help me
You need to think first whether your system is web-based or desktop based. As u have tagged this question in vb.net I assume that you are sure to develop things in .net.
1.You can develop this using vb.net both as desktop based and web-based.
2.In any case you have to deal with database.like sql server for .net
3.You got to make tables and fetch the data which is a cakewalk in .net
4.Then insert the record and calculate the price and print the invoice if needed..
I think it will work as a roadmap for you
