Technique to insert new row in UITableView - objective-c

Currently i'm trying to create a nested list view in iOS, this table would be similar to a p-list, which mean every time users tap on plus sign at the beginning of each cell, new rows would appear below it.
At the moment, I think the solution would be: when click on the button, update the datasource of the table, then insert new rows below the clicked index (this is where I got stuck!).
The original data source is an array of string: {"a", "b", "c", "d"}
The data that is added after each record is: {"sub-1", "sub-2", "sub-3"}
I'm writing this demo in C#, but I'm able to understand swift and obj-c so feel free to post any language that you like!
My code currently include 3 main classes: CustomtableSource.cs CustomTableViewCell.cs and ExpandableListViewController.cs
CustomTableSource.cs:
class CustomTableSource : UITableViewSource
{
private List<Book> _books;
string CellIdentifier = "TableCell";
public CustomTableSource(List<Book> books)
{
_books = books;
}
public override UITableViewCell GetCell(UITableView tableView, NSIndexPath indexPath)
{
var customCell = tableView.DequeueReusableCell(CellIdentifier) as CustomTableViewCell;
Book book = _books[indexPath.Row];
UIImage img = UIImage.FromFile("Images/closed.png");
if (customCell == null)
{
customCell = new CustomTableViewCell(CellIdentifier);
customCell.UpdateCell(book.BookTitle, img);
}
return customCell;
}
public override nint RowsInSection(UITableView tableview, nint rowInSection)
{
return _books.Count;
}
public override nint NumberOfSections(UITableView tableView)
{
return 1;
}
}
CustomTableViewCell.cs
public class CustomTableViewCell : UITableViewCell
{
private UIButton _button;// = UIButton.FromType(UIButtonType.Custom);
private UILabel _title;
public CustomTableViewCell(string cellId) : base (UITableViewCellStyle.Default, cellId)
{
SelectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyle.Gray;
ContentView.BackgroundColor = UIColor.Clear;
_button = UIButton.FromType(UIButtonType.Custom);
/* _button.TouchUpInside += (sender, args) =>
{
_button.SetImage(UIImage.FromFile("Images/open.png"), UIControlState.Normal);
};*/
_title = new UILabel();
_title.BackgroundColor = UIColor.Clear;
ContentView.AddSubviews(new UIView[] {_button, _title});
}
public void UpdateCell(string title, UIImage image)
{
_button.SetImage(image, UIControlState.Normal);
_title.Text = title;
}
public override void LayoutSubviews()
{
base.LayoutSubviews();
_button.Frame = new CGRect(12, 22, 10, 10);
_title.Frame = new CGRect(30, 5, ContentView.Bounds.Width, ContentView.Bounds.Height);
}
}
ExpandableListViewController.cs:
public class ExpandableListViewController : UIViewController
{
private UITableView _tableView;
private UIButton _rowButton;
public ExpandableListViewController() : base("ExpandableListViewController", null)
{
}
public override void ViewDidLoad()
{
base.ViewDidLoad();
var width = View.Bounds.Width;
var height = View.Bounds.Height;
_tableView = new UITableView(new CGRect(0, 0, width, height));
//_rowButton = CustomTableViewCell._button;
_tableView.AutoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizing.All;
List<Book> books = new List<Book>();
books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "C programming", Level = 0 });
books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "Beginner", Level = 1 });
books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "Moderate", Level = 1 });
books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "Advanced", Level = 1 });
books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "Java programming", Level = 2 });
books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "Basic", Level = 1 });
books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "Java Swing", Level = 1 });
books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "Pascal programming", Level = 0 });
//books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "CoBol programming", Level = 0 });
CustomTableSource tableSource = new CustomTableSource(books);
_tableView.Source = tableSource;
Add(_tableView);
/*_rowButton.TouchUpInside += (sender, args) =>
{
_rowButton.SetImage(UIImage.FromFile("Images/open.png"), UIControlState.Normal);
_tableView.BeginUpdates();
books.Add(new Book() { BookTitle = "CoBol programming", Level = 0 });
_tableView.ReloadData();
_tableView.EndUpdates();
};*/
}
}
A screenshot of what I have done:

Add these code to CustomTableSource.cs to raise an event when user select a row.
public event EventHandler<int> OnRowItemSelected;
public override void RowSelected(UITableView tableView, Foundation.NSIndexPath indexPath)
{
if (OnRowItemSelected != null)
{
OnRowItemSelected(tableView, indexPath.Row);
}
tableView.DeselectRow(indexPath, true);
}
From ExpandableListViewController.cs, subscribe row selected event, add new book when it's raised and reload table then
tableSource. OnRowItemSelected += (s, e) => {
//Insert new sub item list
books.Insert(e, new Book { /*init*/ } );
//reload table
_tableView.ReloadData();
};

spinner selected value returns to old value when recyclerview row is clicked

i have created an android application using xamarin.android. the application has a recyclerview that contains a spinner. what i want is when the user selects an item from the spinner, i need to change the value of the corresponding column and row in the datatable and i need the new value to be displayed in the spinner in the recyclerview in the row where the spinner value is selected. the problem is that whenever a value is selected, when another row is clicked, the old value of the spinner is displayed. i tried a lot of ways like the code in the following link: https://www.codeproject.com/articles/1033283/android-recycler-view-with-spinner-item-change-sel, but it didn't work. this is my code:
public class recyclerview_viewholder : RecyclerView.ViewHolder
{
public TextView rownbr, laborname;
public EditText overtime;
public LinearLayout linearLayout;
public Spinner days;
public recyclerview_viewholder(View itemView, Action<int> listener)
: base(itemView)
{
rownbr = itemView.FindViewById<TextView>(Resource.Id.rownbr);
laborname = itemView.FindViewById<TextView>(Resource.Id.laborname);
days = itemView.FindViewById<Spinner>(Resource.Id.days);
overtime = itemView.FindViewById<EditText>(Resource.Id.overtime);
linearLayout = itemView.FindViewById<LinearLayout>(Resource.Id.linearLayout);
itemView.Click += (sender, e) => listener(base.LayoutPosition);
}
public class recyclerviewAdapter : RecyclerView.Adapter

I read the article that you provide, you need to do two things when you change spinner value, firstly, you need to change vegeList's itemPosition quantity by SpinnerItemSelectionChangedEvent, then you need to update TotalAmount in OnBindViewHolder
private void SpinnerItemSelectionChangedEvent(object sender, AdapterView.ItemSelectedEventArgs e)
{
Spinner spinner = (Spinner)sender;
var itemPosition = Convert.ToInt32(spinner.Tag);
//Update the view by Total Amount, after spinner value is been selected.
var currentquantity = vegeList[itemPosition].Quantity;
var selectedQuantity = Convert.ToInt32(spinner.GetItemAtPosition(e.Position).ToString());
if (currentquantity != selectedQuantity)
{
vegeList[itemPosition].Quantity = selectedQuantity;
Madapter.NotifyItemChanged(itemPosition);
}
}
public override void OnBindViewHolder(RecyclerView.ViewHolder holder, int position)
{
var item = Items[position];
var vh = holder as VegeViewHolder;
var spinnerPos = 0;
var adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(Context, Android.Resource.Layout.SimpleSpinnerItem, _quantity);
adapter.SetDropDownViewResource(Android.Resource.Layout.SimpleSpinnerDropDownItem);
vh.Name.Text = item.Name;
vh.Price.Text = string.Format("Price: ${0}", item.Price);
vh.ItemView.Tag = position;
if (item.Quantity > 0)
{
spinnerPos = adapter.GetPosition(item.Quantity.ToString());
vh.TotalAmount.Text = string.Format("${0}", item.Price * item.Quantity);
}
else
{
vh.TotalAmount.Text = "";
}
vh.Quantity.Tag = position; //keep reference to list view row position
vh.Quantity.Adapter = adapter;
vh.Quantity.SetSelection(spinnerPos);
vh.Image.SetImageResource(item.ImageId);
}

Flyweight pattern in this simple net core Api uses more memory ram

I'm trying to aplicate Flyweight method pattern in a simple .net core Api to see how much memory is saved compared to not using the pattern.
I have two methods, the first one creates 5000 objects without uses the pattern and the another creates 5000 object using the pattern. After each of them create the objects, then they call a method that returns the current memory used by the App.
public class MemoryService : IMemoryService
{
private readonly TreeFactory _treeFactory;
public MemoryService()
{
_treeFactory = new TreeFactory();
}
//create without pattern
public long SetObjectsMemory()
{
List<Tree> trees = new List<Tree>();
for (int i = 0; i < 5000; i++)
{
var tree = new Tree()
{
Id = new Random().Next(1, 9999999),
Part = new PartTree()
{
Name = "Nameany",
Bark = "Barkany",
Color = "Colorany"
}
};
trees.Add(tree);
};
return Utilities.GetCurrentMemoryUsed();
}
//crete with flyweight pattern
public long SetObjectsMemoryFactory()
{
List<Tree> trees = new List<Tree>();
for (int i = 0; i < 5000; i++)
{
var tree = new Tree()
{
Id = new Random().Next(1, 9999999),
Part = _treeFactory.GetPartTree("Nameany", "Barkany", "Colorany")
};
trees.Add(tree);
}
return Utilities.GetCurrentMemoryUsed();
}
}
I use the pattern like a class that uses a list of Parts and return a part object if exists.
public class TreeFactory
{
private static List<PartTree> _parts;
public TreeFactory() {
_parts = new List<PartTree>();
}
public PartTree GetPartTree(string name, string bark, string color)
{
if (_parts.Any(x => x.Name == name && x.Bark == bark && x.Color == color))
{
return _parts.Where(x => x.Name == name && x.Bark == bark && x.Color == color).FirstOrDefault();
}
else {
var newpart = new PartTree()
{
Name = name,
Bark = bark,
Color = color
};
_parts.Add(newpart);
return newpart;
}
}
}
The way to get the current memory used by the App is using Process of this way (in Utilities class):
public static long GetCurrentMemoryUsed() {
Int64 memory;
using (Process proc = Process.GetCurrentProcess())
{
memory = proc.PrivateMemorySize64 / (1024 * 1024);
}
return memory;
}
And in my Startup i inject the MemoryService like a Singleton. In the controller i use 3 methods for call the functions:
[HttpGet, Route(nameof(WeatherForecastController.GenerateMemory))]
public IActionResult GenerateMemory()
{
var total=_memoryService.SetObjectsMemory();
return Ok(total);
}
[HttpGet, Route(nameof(WeatherForecastController.GenerateLiftMemory))]
public IActionResult GenerateLiftMemory()
{
var total = _memoryService.SetObjectsMemoryFactory();
return Ok(total);
}
[HttpGet, Route(nameof(WeatherForecastController.GetMemory))]
public IActionResult GetMemory()
{
var total = Utilities.GetCurrentMemoryUsed();
return Ok(total);
}
The problem is: When i call in the navigator the method in controller without pattern (/weatherforecast/GenerateMemory), then this returns (current)+2mb, but when i call the method
with pattern (/weatherforecast/GenerateLiftMemory) this returns (current)+3mb.
Why the method with pattern flyweight returns more used MB (growing) than the methods without the pattern ??
The repository with the code for test it. Gitlab repository memory api
The code which uses TreeFactory consumes more memory because its GetPartTree method called many times in a loop so as Linq methods Any and Where inside it. Both of these methods create additional Iterator objects under the hood in order to iterate through the collection and it causes additional memory consumption.
I wrote simple benchmark using BenchmarkDotNet with more options to demonstrate the issue

Change highlight color of NSTableView selected row

how to change NSTable selected row background color?
here is good answer, but it is for uitable view .
For now,what I see is that I can change selected hilight style :
MyTAble.SelectionHighlightStyle = NSTableViewSelectionHighlightStyle.Regular;
But here is only 3 options;
None = -1L,
Regular,
SourceList
I have tried following solution :
patientListDelegate.SelectionChanged += (o, e) => {
var r = PatientTableView.SelectedRow;
var v = PatientTableView.GetRowView (r, false);
v.Emphasized = false;
};
It works normally , but if I minimize and then open application again , still shows blue color
I found answer in objective-c
Change selection color on view-based NSTableView
Here is c# implementation:
inside delegate :
public override NSTableRowView CoreGetRowView (NSTableView tableView, nint row)
{
var rowView = tableView.MakeView ("row", this);
if (rowView == null) {
rowView = new PatientTableRow ();
rowView.Identifier = "row";
}
return rowView as NSTableRowView;
}
and custom row :
public class PatientTableRow : NSTableRowView
{
public override void DrawSelection (CGRect dirtyRect)
{
if (SelectionHighlightStyle != NSTableViewSelectionHighlightStyle.None) {
NSColor.FromCalibratedWhite (0.65f, 1.0f).SetStroke ();
NSColor.FromCalibratedWhite (0.82f, 1.0f).SetFill ();
var selectionPath = NSBezierPath.FromRoundedRect (dirtyRect, 0, 0);
selectionPath.Fill ();
selectionPath.Stroke ();
}
}
}

managed c++ classes crash in create_task

Basically, what is happening is when trying to change a variable of a Managed class (UWP), it crashes. Additionally, it seems to only crash if I try modifying a variable which is created with the app namespace. In other words, if I create a new namspace and managed class, I can modify variables just fine.

This does not crash
UberSnipAPI->Http->RequestURL = "http://api.ubersnip.com/categories.php";
but this one does
all_item->Title = "All";
I am almost positive it has something to do with it being in the apps default namespace and it being accessed outside of the main thread ... At least that's what it seems like as that's really the only difference besides the actual class.
This is what GENERIC_ITEM looks like.
[Windows::UI::Xaml::Data::Bindable]
public ref class GENERIC_ITEM sealed {
private:
Platform::String^ _title = "";
Platform::String^ _description;
Windows::UI::Xaml::Media::ImageSource^ _Image;

_PropertyChanged(this, pcea);
}

Platform::String^ get() {
return this->_title;
}
void set(Platform::String^ val) {
this->_title = val;
OnPropertyChanged("Title");
}
}
property Platform::String^ Description {
Platform::String^ get() {
return this->_description;
}
void set(Platform::String^ val) {

void SetImage(Platform::String^ path)
{
Windows::Foundation::Uri^ uri = ref new Windows::Foundation::Uri(path);
_Image = ref new Windows::UI::Xaml::Media::Imaging::BitmapImage(uri);
}
};
I know there is no issue with the class because it works perfectly fine if I run this exact same code on the initial thread.
Any suggestions? Thanks! :D
Figured it out after several hours! In case someone else is having this issue, all you must do is use the Dispatcher to run code on the UI that is not available outside of the UI thread.

You see that the Items inside the ArrayList didn't get cleared. It increased. I think that's because the instances of Item created in spawnItem() are still there. How do I fix this?
I noticed that every time I click the button there aren't more items. The items are spawned faster. But how to stop this?
I fixed it! The problem was that I needed to create a Timer.Task seperately and the use task.cancel(); to stop the Timer.Task:
import com.badlogic.gdx.utils.Timer;
public class Item {
public static Timer.Task task;
public static void spawnItem(int amount){
Item.amount = amount;
task = new Timer.Task() {
#Override
public void run() {
if (mainscreen.canclick == false) {
item = new Item();
item.x = 600;
item.y = -42;
item.speedx = -20;
item.speedy = 0;
Rectangle itemcontainer = new Rectangle();
itemcontainer.x = item.x;
itemcontainer.y = item.y;
itemcontainer.width = mainscreen.container.getWidth() / 3f;
itemcontainer.height = mainscreen.container.getHeight() - 15f;
item.container = itemcontainer;
item.itemtype = MathUtils.random(1, 10);
item.setTexture(item.itemtype);
mainscreen.items.add(item);
mainscreen.itemsspawned += 1;
// mainscreen.items.remove(item);
spawned++;
}
for (Item item : mainscreen.items) {
if (item.x <= -4000) {
if (spawned >= Item.amount) {
mainscreen.canclick = true;
timer.clear();
timer.stop();
task.cancel();
spawned = 0;
}
}
}
}
};
timer.schedule(task, 0, 0.4f);
}
}
