Restore GCE VM after trial period ends - virtual-machine

Unfortunately we forgot to upgrade our GCE trial version, so Google deleted our project. Is there any chances to restore data?
How could we manage this problem? We would like to use the service, only forgot to upgrade :(
Thanks for your help,
Szabolcs Mohácsi

For future searchers, this was answered on the gce-discussion Google Group. Data and resources remain in the system for 30 days after trial expiration, and if you upgrade to a paid account you will be able to access them again. (source: free trial FAQ).

Hi, I have one for any DBA's out there about the superuser account.

Is there any database that comes with NO default superuser account, or is there a way to have no superuser at all. I have extensively researched this for the past week and I can find nothing on this topic. My manager is keen on having no superuser by the time the system I'm working on is in deployment, however I feel this is not possible?
With MS SQL Server you can install it to use windows accounts. So you set up superuser tied to windows account. After deployment just disable this account in Windows and you are good to go.
To make sure it works properly you enable audit on user enabling, so you know when someone tries to enable the user account and use it to access DB.
It is bad idea to remove sysadmin completely because you might run into lot of troubles in the future.
Just yesterday our intern set up SQLServer and didn't add a database administrator at the relevant step in the setup, so it installed but was rather useless..

Cpanel update feed or WHM update notifications

the latest cpanel update caused a couple of issues on some of our servers, a reboot fixed them but we'd really like to put something in place to monitor updates.
Does anyone know of a feed of cpanel updates thats kept as up-to-date as their releases? Or is there a way to get WHM to email me when updates are run? I couldnt find anything in the notifications section.
Cheers!
NO, There is no way to setup the notification of cPanel update releases. But I will suggest you please chnage your cPanel update preferences to "STABLE" so that you will not get any issues due to cPanel upadtes. You can chnage this through WHM >> Server Configuration >> Update Preferences

How to fix cpanel log in error?

My cpanel was working fine till yesterday. Today, when I tried logging into it, I got the following error "The filesystem mounted at / on this server is running out of disk space. cPanel operations have been temporarily suspended to prevent something bad from happening. Please ask your system admin to remove any files not in use on that partition".
How do I go about fixing this issue? I am a newbie at this and would be grateful if the solutions were explained in detail, preferably in steps and in layman language if possible.
Thank You!
The issue was solved!! I contacted the host company and they were able to fix it within a few hours.

Restoring redmine issues by email and svn

We lost server with redmine.
Now we have old database dump and email notifications by redmine and svn history with descriptions (descriptions contains num of issue and some comment).
Does anybody know any way to restore some of lost information?
Well since i dont know for sure i`ve checked the manual page of redmine. Maybe you can create an repository with everything in there and than from there try to get all the datafiles to the right location on youre redmine server.

It`s a pity that there is no documentation about back ups or something else.
Good luck trying to fix it!

Interworx website backup - in between angry client and angry host - Im the meat?

I have been contacted today by someone who is wanting to restore his website.
Long story short, host cancelled and deleted his account. He has a backup from a few weeks ago which will do fine. it is a interworx backup (i-worx). I dont have access to interworx control panel but I would like to extract the files and ftp them up to another host for this customer.
Can it be done without the interworx cpanel? Anyone know how I can achieve this?
Cheers
It's most likely a compressed tar so you should be able to extract it and manually move over all the data.
