the latest cpanel update caused a couple of issues on some of our servers, a reboot fixed them but we'd really like to put something in place to monitor updates.
Does anyone know of a feed of cpanel updates thats kept as up-to-date as their releases? Or is there a way to get WHM to email me when updates are run? I couldnt find anything in the notifications section.
Cheers!
NO, There is no way to setup the notification of cPanel update releases. But I will suggest you please chnage your cPanel update preferences to "STABLE" so that you will not get any issues due to cPanel upadtes. You can chnage this through WHM >> Server Configuration >> Update Preferences

I faced problem for accessing webmail in cpanel. it say user x#x.com don't have authorize to access. after that when i go in WHM and use Repair Mailbox Permissions i see some ownership and permissions changed and everything become fine.
Now the problem is after some time it cause problem and show error message again.
Fixed ownership on /home/x/mail/x.com/support/dovecot-quota: was (501:505), now (501:502)
Fixed permissions on /home/x/mail/x.com/support/dovecot-quota: was (0600), now (0640)
any idea?
It's because your WHM version changes. if you recently do some changes is your WHM version (Updating), you see this kind of error may happen. So it may take some times to fixed.
In the other hand put your IP into cPHulk Brute Force Protection whitelist too.
I am new to Management System. Now I need to control a website. Some days ago, someone hack it — not SQL injection, just file change / new files upload.
I need to know the how can I prevent it; I want to learn.
Please, can someone give me some suggestions?
To prevent this, You need to update your server security with the mod_security, Mod_security is web server firewall so you will have to install and upadte mod_sec rules on your server to prevent this,
Also, Update your site scripts and plugin and themes which you are using for your site.
Use strong password for your cPanel, FTP and site admin panel
Also, Check WHM >> Security Center >> Security Advisor and fix all the Warning which you will get in that scan report.
Install maldet on your server and scan your all user home directory and remove infected files from your account.
Sorry about English, Actually i have been looking for best article about WHM/CPANEL server migration but i could not find yet. Hope this is the right platform.
I have one WHM/CPANEL server running with CentOS x86_64 standard. Now i want to migrate all stuff to my new high end machine.
Need to Transfer: (All accounts along with databases, Exim configuration, Tweak settings, PHP etc etc).
Note: I need step by step guide which will be highly appreciated, I am not too much technical and in learning phase so please go easy on me.
Thanks in advance.
First you need to install and setup cPanel on your new server.
After that you can migrate your all cPanel account to new server through transfer tool. WHM >> Transfers >> Transfer Tool
Here are the some useful docs.
https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/How+to+Move+All+cPanel+Accounts+from+One+Server+to+Another
cPanel setting are stored in /etc/wwwacct.conf and /var/cpanel/cpanel.config file so you can copy that setting to new server.
After the server setup is complete, you will have to recreate all the accounts you wish to move, on the server. You can create the domains in your server using the WHM and then restore the website contents manually using a FTP client(say FileZilla).
First you have to take the backup of your domain via cPanel. Please check below URL to find information regarding this:-
http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/AllDocumentation/CpanelDocs/BackupWizard#Backup your entire site
Then Create the account in WHM.
Upload the contents in these newly created domain and restore them via WHM or cPanel.
To restore via WHM please follow below steps:-
Main >> Backup >> Restore a Full Backup/cpmove file
Please refer the cPanel docs link below on how to restore an account via cPanel.

If you have cpanel WHM server and you want to transfer your whole server accounts and websites to another WHM server then its really very easy and simple. All you need is root access of both server.
If you have set up your high end new WHM server, then login to your new WHM with root user and go to transfer tool from WHM > Transfers > Transfer Tool. It will show you fields to input the details of your low end server. Once you provide the root information of server it will fetch the accounts lists and account details. From there you can select which accounts to transfer and which to not. If you want to transfer all accounts then you can select all and proceed the transfer. It will transfer all your accounts with their current package details.
Try the cpanel transfer tool its easy and simple to understand and proceed.

I am moving a copy from server a to server b and server b is asking for the DNN version to be upgraded. The problem is we do not have the host password. I tried to upload a password recovery file via FTP and we cannot see it since everything keeps redirecting to this upgrade. Is there a way to stop the upgrade redirect so we can get the host password and then re-enable it??
Upgrade
Current Version - 06.02.08
Upgrade - Version 07.02.01
You are about to upgrade your website to a more recent version of the application. Applying upgrades on a consistent basis is the best way to ensure that you are protecting the integrity of your investment and the security of your users and assets. Before proceeding with the automated upgrade process please ensure that:
You can have the upgrade fire off without typing in a password, just go to /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade and it should run the upgrade without needing to login as HOST. then you can recover the password afterwards.
I've never seen a server which ask for a DNN upgrade. The upgrade process will run only if you've update files with an upgrade package.
Moreover, the 2 versions mentionned are the assembly version and the database version. Moving DNN from a server to another server doesn't modify none of them. Did you copied the database too? I suspect that your dnn copy is connected to another database which is in DNN 6.2.8. It could explain why dnn is attempting to upgrade it.
Regarding the recovery of the host password, I don't know how to proceed. Haven't you a superuser account on this dnn instance?
Open your web.config and make sure AutoUpgrade is set to False.
For the password issue, do you have the password for any other users?
If so, I believe you can go into the AspNetUsers table and copy the PasswordHash/Salt of that user to the PasswordHash/Salt of the admin user. Then, you should be able to login with the Admin username and the other user's password.
Note: Please make sure you have a database backup before trying this.
We lost server with redmine.
Now we have old database dump and email notifications by redmine and svn history with descriptions (descriptions contains num of issue and some comment).
Does anybody know any way to restore some of lost information?
Well since i dont know for sure i`ve checked the manual page of redmine. Maybe you can create an repository with everything in there and than from there try to get all the datafiles to the right location on youre redmine server.

It`s a pity that there is no documentation about back ups or something else.
Good luck trying to fix it!
