I need to remote desktop into one windows server and then from there remote desktop into another windows server (don't ask...). I know that you can use Ctrl+alt+end to act as ctrl+alt+delete in remote desktop but this only affects my first RDP connection, how do I do this for the second one?

Below worked for me when attempted Keyboard Keys Highlighted.Alt+Ctrl+Del on Box2 from Box1
RDP to your Box2 from Box1
Open On-Screen Keyboard on Box2. eg on Windows 2016 server it would be under
Open C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessibility\On-Screen Keyboard
When On-Screen Keyboard comes on Box2, press ALT+CTRL of "Box1 keyboard" and using mouse click on "Box2's On-Screen Keyboard" DEL button.
If you're using an RDP within another RDP, Ctrl+Alt+End may not work as expected -- it sometimes could bring up the Task Manager / Change Password screen for the outer RDP.
Instead, to bring up the Task Manager / Change Password screen for the inner RDP :
Bring up the on-screen keyboard (Start > Run, type osk.exe)
Hold Ctrl+Alt on the top-level machine and click Del on the OSK.
This should work for any number of nested RDPs.

When I start a desktop application on Windows 8 tablet, Explorer starts it with SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED.
For example, if you start Notepad from command prompt, it opens in normal window size, but if you do that from Explorer, maximized window is opened. I have seen this Explorer behavior only on tablet PC and I guess Explorer is doing that on purpose.
I understand that it may be useful for many application programs, but I want my program to start with normal size unless user explicitly requests Explorer to open it maximized.
Is there a way to stop this for my application? I'm hoping that there is an API or manifest to do that, but I couldn't find any information at MSDN.

See if this helps:
Open any program that is affected with this issue. Note: Make sure that it is the only open window of that program. eg. You can only do this if you have one window of command prompt open.
Adjust the window size and position to your liking.
While holding Ctrl on your keyboard, close the window by clicking (or touching, for tablet) the X in the top-right corner of the window to close it.
Re-open the program. Your window should now open in the way you set it in step 3.
I frequently browse internet while using RDP, and the position of connection bar at the top of the window is annoying while switching between tabs. How is it possible to change the position of Windows RDP connection bar to the any other side of the window? Not unpinning the bar, shrinking or sliding along the top end of the window, but shift to any other end either left/right/bottom, or totally get rid of it altogether.

You can remove the bar entirely by deselecting the "Display the connection bar when I use the full screen" box in the Remote Desktop Connection window.
To exit full-screen, you can use Ctrl+Alt+Break, you can also exit by selecting the power menu and using "disconnect".
I have a strange situation. IT installed SSMS on my laptop and it runs well the first time, connected to my SQL servers remotely etc. But then it's frozen. I forced quit and then started SSMS again. Now it's totally frozen, no popup window at all to enter the server-connection text string. Then I did a force quit and got a pop up window (see it here ).
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio has detected that an operation is blocking user input. This can be caused by an active modal dialog or a task that needs to block user interaction. Would you like to shut down anyway?
Has anyone seen this before? My IT department has no clue.
Often this is due to the new connection dialog being off screen (usually due to changing monitor setup e.g. 1 to 2 monitors or resolution change etc).
If so the really easy fix (if your connection dialog just needed approval without changing fields) is :
Focus on SSMS and Hit Enter/Return
..or the easy fix (if above does not work - as your last connection is not ready to go) is:
Alt Tab to SSMS
Alt + Space - context menu
M - select Move (in offscreen context menu)
Arrow Key(s) - to move it back onto screen

In my case deleteing the SQL server management studio folder under AppData ( c:\users\%userName%Appdata\raoming\microsoft\ ) didn't work.
However I was successfully after deleting / renaming the regisitry entry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server]

Worked out the underlying issue on my laptop - was using additional 2 screens with much higher resolutions which caused windows / SSMS to open up the connect to new data source dialog off all of them. If your using multiple screens try returning to just use the native laptop screen to see if you can find the dialog that SSMS is waiting on your input for.
I just had this same situation, with two additional screens connected to my laptop. SQL Server Management Studio was opened on the third screen, with the modal dialog nowhere to be seen.
Two options:
Press tab three times and enter. This cancels the dialog. Now you can move the window to another screen.
Set Windows to only use one or two screens. SSMS opens on the first and should still open there when you move back to using three screens.
When SSMS is on your primary or secondary screen, the modal dialog opens on the first and should be usable.
It was because multi screen display. Turning off multiscreen to single one resolved it. Reenabled multi screen display after ssms started working
In my case, "Run as Administrator" option worked like charm. I was accessing my server screen with the windows RDP. And when I open SQL Server Management Studio and Visual Studio 2010 user hangs at the moment and wont operate unless sign off r disconnected by administrator.
But when I set compatibility mode of both the application to the "run as Administrator", it starts working fine.
the problem also occurs if you have a touch screen. I fixed this by disabling the local thouch screen when I switch to RDP.
I need to remove an old ssh key but I don't know the location of the directory. The sublime console says the following.
The SSH host key has changed. This could indicate a potential security breach, or that the domain you are connecting to recently moved servers.
If you are confident this is not a security breach you can delete the old host key and try again.
1. Win XP: Start > Run > regedit.exe
Win Vista/7: Start > regedit
2. Expand to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY\SshHostKeys and delete the entry including #22:example.com
The Problem is that there is no solution for windows 8 :/

Because, In my app, the Settings of an app is in the settings charm(If user presses Settings btn in App will leads to open Settings Charm)
In my case, Instead of using the settings btn. user may use short cut (WIN + C) (or) Moving the Mouse to the Right corner of the Screen. to enter into the settings pane means how could i know that?
Is that any way to find that????

initialize the setting commands and pause its UI until the user closes the pane.
