I'm currently working on functionality that would allow the user to add a set of checkboxes, textfields, and buttons on demand. Afterward, I would like to be able to access the text stored in the textfield as well as the state of the checkbox.
My current code is as follows:
#FXML VBox box = new VBox(10);
{
HBox horizBox = new HBox(10);
Button button3 = new Button("Hi");
TextField textTest = new TextField();
CheckBox check3 = new CheckBox();
box.getChildren().addAll(horizBox);
horizBox.getChildren().addAll(textTest, check3, button3);
System.out.println(textTest.getText());
}
Even after giving a variety of inputs, the output is still blank. How do I access the data in a dynamically generated textbox? For example, if I wanted to get the input from the fourth textbox that the user made, how would I go about doing that?
Thanks.

I have a Master-Detail set up with 2 grids. On the master grid, I have the ShowOnlyPredefinedDetails option set to false.
This means that I see a little + sign that allows me to expand the details of the detail grid (in the master grid). I would like to rename
some columns in that section as well as hide certain columns. I'm using VB.NET How do I go about this. See image.
You can accomplish this by using the grid control ViewRegistered event, from there you can modify the columns in that grid view that have columns within them that you want to modify, rename, or remove. Here is an example, I hope that it helps:
private void myGridControl_ViewRegistered(object sender, DevExpress.XtraGrid.ViewOperationEventArgs e)
{
if (e != null)
{
if (e.View != null)
{
//Inside of this statement you can adjust, add, and modify all of the columns inside of that grid that appears when you click on the +
(e.View as GridView).Columns["myHiddenColumn"].Visible = false;
(e.View as GridView).Columns.Add(new GridColumn() { Name = "AddColumn", Caption = "Name To Display", Visible = true, FieldName = "DataField"});
(e.View as GridView).Columns["DataField"].OptionsColumn.AllowEdit = false;
(e.View as GridView).Columns["DataField"].OptionsColumn.AllowFocus = false;
(e.View as GridView).Columns["DataField"].OptionsColumn.ReadOnly = true;
}
}
}
I think all you need to do is create a second grid view for your details. If you haven't already done this, do the following:
In your grid designer, click "Retrieve Details" if you have not already done so. This will cause the designer to recognize that you have a second level in your bound object:
Once you see the second layer, now you need a new grid view for it. Click on "Click here to change view" and select "Create a new view" and pick "GridView."
Now you will see both grid views from the designer, and clicking on one or the other will change the context of the menus to the left:
For example, if you have gridView2 selected, when you click on the "Layout" menu, it will show the current layout for your detail grid rather than the master grid. From here, you can remove or add columns as you see fit. Likewise, from the "Columns" menu you will see the new columns (you may have to add them to the view by dragging them over), and you can change the Caption property to change the text of the title.
I suggest you use the Data Annotation attributes with properties of your data-classes to declare how you data should be displayed in GridControl:
To skip column generation for the specific property you can mark this property with the <DisplayAttribute(AutoGenerateField := false)> declaration.
To prevent column from displaying you can mark this property with the <DisplayAttribute(Order := -1)> declaration. Later, user can show this column via Column Chooser UI.
To specify the column caption use the <DisplayAttribute(Name := "YOUR CAPTION")> declaration.
You can also control filtering/editing/formatting and validation capabilities.

I do have a project for daily monitoring, and I have a problem getting the text from my textbox wherein my textbox is in my usercontrol.
the scenario would be, if I click the show button, the userControl.vb would be called in my panel and I dont have a problem putting up userControl.vb to my panel, if I click save button which will check if all fields are fill-up before saving the data. I would save as normal and wont check my panel where I load up my userControl.vb
this my snippet project tree:
DXApplication
|_My Porject
|_User Control <folder>
|_userControl.vb <user control form>
|_frmMainActivity <winForm>
here is my code for loading the userControl in my Panel
Friend ctrlUser As UserControl
ctrlUser = New userControlx
ctrlUser.Dock = DockStyle.Top
pnlActivity.Controls.Clear()
pnlActivity.Controls.Add(ctrlUser)
here is code for calling the textbox from userControl from another sub to check if the code can get the text.
*edited the userControl should be userControlx*
Dim uc As New userControlx
Msgbox(uc.txtLatitude.text)
when i hit the trigger button to show what text i put on my textbox i would return msgbox with empty string.
Any suggestion? where did I go wrong on calling the value of the textbox?
I've tried using:
Dim uc As New userControlx
uc.txtLongitude.text = "Test Text"
msgbox(ux.txtLongitude.txt)
It will return the Test Text, But in my UI the textbox that is loaded is empty.
in the trigger button you create a new instance of userControl, thats why the content of your textbox is emtpy
instead use
Msgbox(ctrlUser.txtLatitude.text)
i have developed a simple calculator like in windows calculator,
but unlike in windows calculator, after clicking any button, the focus on that button is still there on the particular clicked button.
so how to never get focus for all buttons on calculator form ... ?
i don't think that it will better to write loose focus code on every button's click event ... so any better solution ?
Without seeing any code of yours, I am going to assume that you have a text box that displays the numbers pressed by the user, so you need to set the focus to the text box once a user clicks a button, like this:
TextBox1.Focus()
Note: If your text box is not named TextBox1, then change the name to whatever your text box is actually named.
Instead of a standard button use an instance of a NoFocusButton class derived from the Standard button. In this class override the ShowFocusCues property and return always false.
Form f = new Form();
// Need to add manually the buttons to your form unless you build a customcontrol
NoFocusButton b = new NoFocusButton();
b.Text = "ClickMe";
f.Controls.Add(b);
f.Show();
// Class derived by the Button control, it is identical but the
// property that control the drawing of the Focus rectangle returns FALSE
// tricking the WinForm system to avoid to draw the focus rectangle
class NoFocusButton : System.Windows.Forms.Button
{
protected override bool ShowFocusCues
{
get
{
return false;
}
}
}

I have a rad grid dynamically created. I have a status column in database. When binding the value to the grid, I want to show a de-activate button when status is 0 and activate button when status is 1. Upon clicking the button, the status should change from active to inactive and vice versa? What should be the column type and how to write an event for the button click?
I have accomplished the same task as shown below :
GridButtonColumn btncol = new GridButtonColumn();
btncol.ButtonType = GridButtonColumnType.LinkButton; // setting ButtonType as LinkButton
btncol.DataTextField = "Active"; // setting DataTextField to first column in DataTable
this.RadGrid1.MasterTableView.Columns.Add(btncol);
Better example is given in following link :

I dynamically create buttons on a form and use the button text as ids so that I can pass that to an SQL query to pull saved data about that button when necessary, but I also use an image over buttons that have information saved about them. What I need to know is how do I keep the text on the button from appearing when there is an image assigned to that button? By default vb.net shows both the text and the image and no TextImageRelation values allow for the image to take precedence. I tried changing the text color to transparent, but the outline of the text is still visible through the image. Is there anyway to keep the text value as it is but just show the image on the button?
Don't use the .Text property of the button to store your information. Use the .Tag property for your IDs. Just set the .Text property to "" (empty string), that way it won't interfere with your image.
not sure, but why not just set the value to a variable to be passed to the SQL on the button click event and not place the text on the button? If you are using the same button click event for several buttons you could check the sender's ID and then set the variable based on that.
To Enable "Button1" Click (Visible)
Button1.Enable = True
To Disable "Button1" Click (Visible)
Button1.Enable = False
Hide "Button"
Button1.Visible = True
or
Button1.Show()
Show "Button"
Button1.Visible = False
or
Button1.Hide()
