DataTable to File - vb.net

Sub DataTable2CSV(ByVal table As DataTable, ByVal filename As String)
DataTable2CSV(table, filename, vbTab)
End Sub
Sub DataTable2CSV(ByVal table As DataTable, ByVal filename As String, _
ByVal sepChar As String)
Dim writer As System.IO.StreamWriter
Try
writer = New System.IO.StreamWriter(filename)
' first write a line with the columns name
Dim sep As String = ""
Dim builder As New System.Text.StringBuilder
For Each col As DataColumn In table.Columns
builder.Append(sep).Append(col.ColumnName)
sep = sepChar
Next
writer.WriteLine(builder.ToString())
' then write all the rows
For Each row As DataRow In table.Rows
sep = ""
builder = New System.Text.StringBuilder
For Each col As DataColumn In table.Columns
builder.Append(sep).Append(row(col.ColumnName))
sep = sepChar
Next
writer.WriteLine(builder.ToString())
Next
Finally
If Not writer Is Nothing Then writer.Close()
End Try
End Sub
I found this piece of coding on the internet after searching for "DataTable to File VB.net". What I would like to do is output this in filestream, is it possible to set up a response outputstream? Thanks
EDIT: To Clarify (Change up) Here is what I am working with now:
Protected Sub DoExportFinancials()
Dim ef As New ExportFinancials()
ef.Behavior = ExportFinancials.ObjectBehavior.Export
If ef.Load() = True Then
Me.GridView4.DataSource = ef.DT
Me.GridView4.DataBind()
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet"
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=FileName.xls")
' Response.Charset = ""
'Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
Dim stringWrite As StringWriter = New StringWriter
Dim htmlWrite As HtmlTextWriter = New HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite)
GridView4.RenderControl(htmlWrite)
Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString())
Response.End()
End If

The below should work,
Dim FilePath As String = serverPath & "\App_Data\" & FileName
Response.Clear()
Response.ContentType = "text/csv"
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" & FileName)
Response.TransmitFile(FilePath)
Response.End()
EDIT: Based on more details of Question,
[Change] : How to pass DataTable to Response Stream as CSV/Excel file, without writing it to Disk on server.
One way of accomplishing the above is first to Bind DataTable to a GridView and then the contents of GridView can be passed to the response stream using the below,
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet"
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=FileName.xls")
Response.Charset = "" Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
Dim stringWrite As StringWriter = New StringWriter
Dim htmlWrite As HtmlTextWriter = New HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite)
grid.RenderControl(htmlWrite) Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString())
Response.End()

VB.net Crystal report export to html and send as html mail body using outlook

I am trying to send contents of a crystal report as email body using outlook application.
Here is my code in VB.net
Imports outlook = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook
Dim a As String = something.ConnectionString
Dim cryRpt As ReportDocument
Dim username As String = a.Split("=")(3).Split(";")(0) 'get username
Dim password As String = a.Split("=")(4).Split(";")(0) 'get password
cryRpt = New ReportDocument()
Dim Path As String = Application.StartupPath
Dim svPath As String = Application.StartupPath & "\PDF"
If Not Directory.Exists(svPath) Then
Directory.CreateDirectory(svPath)
End If
cryRpt.Load(Path & "\Reports\dr.rpt")
CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = cryRpt
cryRpt.SetDatabaseLogon(username, password)
CrystalReportViewer1.Refresh()
Dim myExportOptions As ExportOptions
myExportOptions = cryRpt.ExportOptions
myExportOptions.ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile
myExportOptions.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.HTML40 'i tried HTML32 also
Dim html40FormatOptions As HTMLFormatOptions = New HTMLFormatOptions()
html40FormatOptions.HTMLBaseFolderName = svPath
html40FormatOptions.HTMLFileName = "dr.htm"
html40FormatOptions.HTMLEnableSeparatedPages = False
html40FormatOptions.HTMLHasPageNavigator = False
html40FormatOptions.UsePageRange = False
myExportOptions.FormatOptions = html40FormatOptions
cryRpt.Export()

Dim oApp As outlook.Application
oApp = New outlook.Application
Dim oMsg As outlook.MailItem
oMsg = oApp.CreateItem(outlook.OlItemType.olMailItem)
oMsg.Subject = txtSubject.Text
oMsg.BodyFormat = outlook.OlBodyFormat.olFormatHTML
oMsg.HTMLBody = ""
oMsg.HTMLBody = getFileAsString(svPath & "\PoPrt\QuotPrt.html")
oMsg.To = txtEmailId.Text
Dim ccArray As New List(Of String)({txtCC1.Text, txtCC2.Text, txtCC3.Text})
Dim cclis As String = String.Join(",", ccArray.Where(Function(ss) Not String.IsNullOrEmpty(ss)))
oMsg.CC = cclis
oMsg.Display(True)
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox("Something went wrong", vbExclamation)
End Try
SvFormPanel3.Visible = False
the function
Private Function getFileAsString(ByVal file As String) As String
Dim reader As System.IO.FileStream
Try
reader = New System.IO.FileStream(file, IO.FileMode.Open)
Catch e As Exception
MsgBox("Something went wrong. " + e.Message, vbInformation)
End Try
Dim resultString As String = ""
Dim b(1024) As Byte
Dim temp As UTF8Encoding = New UTF8Encoding(True)
Do While reader.Read(b, 0, b.Length) > 0
resultString = resultString & temp.GetString(b)
Array.Clear(b, 0, b.Length)
Loop
reader.Close()
Return resultString
End Function
The report will get exported to the specified location as html. And when we manually open that html file it displays perfectly with border lines and all.
But when its getting added as html body of outlook application, the formatting will be gone, and looks scattered.
can anyone help
Did you try this?
Open outlook, go to, File>Options>Mail
go to section MessageFormat and untick "Reduce message size by removing format..."
I have solved the issue by exporting it into PDF and then convert to Image and embed in email body.

The process cannot access the file 'file.csv' because it is being used by another process

I have a code which process each file in a folder and send the data in the file to SQL Database and then deletes the file. But often i get this Exception "The process cannot access the file 'file.csv' because it is being used by another process." VB.NET FTP Downloaded file corrupt

I want to download all file that located on FTP site. I break into 2 operations. First is to get the list of all files in the directory. Then I proceed to second which download each file. But unfortunately, the downloaded file is corrupt. Worst over, it affect the file on FTP folder. Both folder contains corrupt file. From a viewing thumbnails image to default image thumbnails. How this happen and to overcome this? Below are my code; full code class. I provide as reference and guide to do a correct way :)
Private strTargetPath As String
Private strDestPath As String
Private Sub frmLoader_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Try
objSQL = New clsSQL
If objSQL.SQLGetAllData Then 'Get data from SQL and insert into an arraylist

End If
Catch ex As Exception

End Sub
There is something strange in your code. You are closing the responseStream twice.
And you are using ftp request method uploadFile. But then downloading it.
Instead of using the ftp stuff use this instead. Its much more simple and your outsourcing the buffers and streams to microsoft, which should be less buggy than us.
Dim webClient = new WebClient()
webClient.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("user", "user123")
dim response = webClient.UploadFile("ftp://MyFtpAddress","c:\myfile.jpg")
dim sResponse = System.Text.Encoding.Default.GetString(response)

How to create directory on FTP server

I am using the following code for creating the folder on FTP server ; But its not working in my case :-
Dim sFilePath as string =filepath
Dim ftpResponse1 As FtpWebResponse
Dim ftpRequest1 As FtpWebRequest
Dim IsExists1 As Boolean = True
ftpRequest1 = CType(FtpWebRequest.Create(sFilePath), FtpWebRequest)
ftpRequest1.UseBinary = True
ftpRequest1.Credentials = New NetworkCredential(ZXFTPUSER, ZXFTPPASS)
ftpRequest1.UsePassive = True
ftpRequest1.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.MakeDirectory
'ftpRequest1.KeepAlive = False
'ftpResponse1 = ftpRequest1.GetResponse()
'ftpResponse1 = ftpRequest1.GetResponse()
'Dim strstream1 As Stream = ftpResponse1.GetResponseStream()
'Dim strreader1 As New StreamReader(strstream1)
'Console.WriteLine(strreader1.ReadToEnd())
'strreader1.Close()
'strstream1.Close()
'ftpResponse1.Close()
Please help me.
In the above case i am not getting any error but when i am going to upload a rar file then it is giving the following exception
The remote server returned an error: (550) File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).
And File Upload code is given below
Public Sub FTPUpload(ByVal SourceFile() As IO.FileInfo, ByVal folderLevel As Integer, ByVal ftpPassiveMode As Boolean)
ZXFTPPASS = "******"
Dim filePath As New IO.DirectoryInfo(filePaths)
Dim ftpRequest As FtpWebRequest

End Try
Next
End Sub
Looking through various sites I have found this:
Private Function FtpFolderCreate(folder_name As String, username As String, password As String) As Boolean
Dim request As Net.FtpWebRequest = CType(FtpWebRequest.Create(folder_name), FtpWebRequest)
request.Credentials = New NetworkCredential(username, password)

Dim response As FtpWebResponse = DirectCast(ex.Response, FtpWebResponse)
' an error occurred
If response.StatusCode = FtpStatusCode.ActionNotTakenFileUnavailable Then
Return False
End If
End Try
Return True
End Function
this is working code on how to create a directory on a FTP server Via Vb.net
Dim folderName As String = "POP/" & Date.Now.Year.ToString & Date.Now.Month.ToString.PadLeft(2, "0"c) & Date.Now.Day.ToString.PadLeft(2, "0"c)

Printing images in Crystal Reports from VB.Net

I want to print an image in Crystal Reports. I got some code from the web but the image doesn't show; only the text "ok" on the first column was shown.
Any suggestions would greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Here is my code
