This is my LongListSelector in my page.xaml:
<phone:LongListSelector Name="ModuleList"
Margin="0,0,0,0"
Padding="0,0,0,0"
Style="{StaticResource LLSFloatingScrollbarStyle}"
ItemTemplate="{StaticResource ModuleListTemplate}"
ItemsSource="{Binding Modules}"/>
My template:
<DataTemplate x:Key="ModuleListTemplate">
<StackPanel Margin="{Binding StackModuleMargin}">
...
<toolkit:ToggleSwitch x:Name="LockSwitch"
Grid.Row="2" Margin="0,4,0,-26" Padding="0"
Content="" SwitchForeground="{StaticResource TrackitoOrange}"
IsChecked="{Binding IsToggleCheck, Mode=TwoWay}">
<i:Interaction.Triggers>
<i:EventTrigger EventName="Click">
<Command:EventToCommand Command="{Binding DataContext.LockSwitchTapCommand, ElementName=LayoutRoot}"
CommandParameter="{Binding}" />
</i:EventTrigger>
</i:Interaction.Triggers>
</toolkit:ToggleSwitch>
...
The problem is that click is raised when I just scroll with list. Yes I have my finger in place where is toggle but I want to fix it when I scroll then toggle shoudn't be changed. Thanks
There's a probably a design issue you should explore if you have two competing tap events in your UI.
That said, you could override OnScroll and mark the event as handled at the original level so it doesn't bubble up to your toggle button.

I am an experienced uwp developer but a beginner for uwp xbox platform. I am trying to set the XY Navigation for my app and trying to test it with keyboard (as I don't own a xbox myself).
I am using a Pivot view and I can easily navigate between the pivot items with right and left arrow keys, which makes sense. but when my settings page is selected with pivot option (settings pivot header is focused and settings pivot item is in view) then I try to shift my focus vertically downwards to the first control in the settings page (radio buttons) but I am not able to do it the focus remains on settings header and doesn't shift downward on the page.
So how can I shift the focus downwards from a pivot header to the 1st control within the page on pressing down, and vice versa i.e : when 1st control is focused I should move up to go back to the header of the pivot of that page, because I think that is the traditional navigation with pivot control on uwp xbox right?
Secondly the docs and the xbox app dev videos I watched recommended to set the focus on an element which makes sense, when the app loads, should that be done with this.Focus() method or is there a more efficient way to do it with xaml?

The MSDN has listed several scenarios that XY navigation might not work the way you expect:
The IsTabStop or Visibility property is set wrong.
The control getting focus is actually bigger than you think—XY navigation looks at the total size of the control (ActualWidth and ActualHeight), not just the portion of the control that renders something interesting.
One focusable control is on top of another—XY navigation doesn't support controls that are overlapped.
If XY navigation is still not working the way you expect after fixing these issues, you can manually point to the element that you want to get focus using the method described in Overriding the default navigation.
Please first check these scenarios, after that, if you still could not solve this issue. Please provide a Minimal, Complete, and Verifiable example. I will help you diagnose it on my side.
I'd really like to use RelativePanel in a UWP app I'm writing, to simplify visual state.
This is what I want
I've tried to achieve this with the following XAML:
<RelativePanel>
<TextBlock x:Name="Title" Height="50" Margin="15" FontSize="24"
RelativePanel.AlignTopWithPanel="True"
RelativePanel.AlignLeftWithPanel="True"
RelativePanel.AlignRightWithPanel="True">
</TextBlock>
<TextBox x:Name="Editor" Margin="15" Padding="20" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"
RelativePanel.AlignLeftWithPanel="True"
RelativePanel.Below="Title"
RelativePanel.RightOf="FileList">
</TextBox>
<ListView x:Name="FileList" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" Margin="15"
RelativePanel.AlignRightWithPanel="True"
RelativePanel.Below="Title">
</ListView>
</RelativePanel>
This isn't working. Editor does not stretch. If I set Editor to RelativePanel.AlignRightWith="FilesList", it stretches past files list and fills the window.
Is there any way to do what I want with RelativePanel? Please don't post suggestions on how to do this in Grid, I can already do that - I want to use RelativePanel in this case
Your Editor control should have -
RelativePanel.AlignLeftWithPanel="True"
RelativePanel.Below="Title"
RelativePanel.LeftOf="FileList"
RelativePanel.AlignBottomWithPanel="True"
Note it should be LeftOf, not RightOf. You will also need AlignBottomWithPanel set to True.
I have WinRT application with following GridView:
<GridView x:Name="RouteGrid"
ItemsSource="{Binding Routes}"
SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedRoute,
UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged,
Mode=TwoWay}"
SelectionMode="Single">
<GridView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<Grid Width="300" Margin="4">
<Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
<ColumnDefinition />
<ColumnDefinition />
</Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
<TextBlock FontWeight="Bold" Text="{Binding TermText}" />
<TextBlock Grid.Column="1" Text="{Binding ConnectionObjects.Count}" />
</Grid>
</DataTemplate>
</GridView.ItemTemplate>
I want to show a button instead of the second textblock when ever the item is selected because I want to allow my users to navigate to another view when they've selected.
I would like to do it in pure XAML because that is for me the cleanest way but I have no idea how to bind to the IsSelected property of the GridViewItem.
In WPF I would bind the Visibility property of the TextBlock and the button with a BooleanToVisibilityConverter and RelativeSource to the AncestorType GridViewItem and its property but that's not working because WinRT does not know AncestorType :(
Thanks for help.
I am building a Custom Control for Windows Phone 8.1. But the stackpanel is not scrolling down. StackPanel contains one ListView which shouws a TextBlock & another StackPanel which houses a Toggle Button.
<StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" >
<ListView Grid.Row="0" Background="RoyalBlue">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<Grid>
<TextBlock Text="Some Text" Foreground="Black" FontSize="20" TextAlignment="Center" ></TextBlock>
</Grid>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
<StackPanel Grid.Row="2" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" Background="Red" Orientation="Horizontal">
<Grid HorizontalAlignment="Stretch">
<Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
<ColumnDefinition Width="*"></ColumnDefinition>
</Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
<ToggleButton Grid.Column="0" Content="Toggle Me" />
</Grid>
</StackPanel>
</StackPanel>
Stackpanel doesn't provide any scrolling.
You can wrap it into a ScrollViewer.
Also: listView already provides Scrolling.
But: The ListView inside stackpanel will pick up all your manipulation events. Also, a ListView inside a Stackpanel will have infinite heigt and therefore loose it's virtualization capabilities.
If you just want to have content above and/below the ListView, maybe use its Header/Footer properties.
Add ScrollViewer over the StackPanel and it will make it scrollable.
For Example:
<ScrollViewer Margin="12">
<StackPanel>
<TextBlock Text="content1" FontSize="48" />
<TextBlock Text="content1" FontSize="48" />
</StackPanel>
</ScrollViewer>
In my application, I am having a ListView. ListView lists a set of images.
So when the application is running, and when that page is loaded, a list of images are shown.
<ListView ItemsSource="{Binding imageLists}" Background="Red" Tapped="ListView_Tapped">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<Grid Background="Green">
<Image Source="{Binding imagePath}" CacheMode="BitmapCache" Stretch="UniformToFill"/>
<StackPanel Name="imageTitle" Visibility="Collapsed" Background="Blue"
HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center">
<TextBlock Foreground="White" Text="Dumy Image Title" FontSize="10"/>
</StackPanel>
</Grid>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
As you can see from the code, I have one image & stackpanel inside the listview. And the stackpanel's visibility has been set to collapsed for convenience.
The StackPanel imageTitle resides inside the ListView. Stackpanel contains a TextBlock housing the images name. For now it's dumy text.
On Tapping any image in the list, I am trying to make the stackPanel visible.
The Code Behind:
private void ListView_Tapped(object sender, TappedRoutedEventArgs e)
{
imageTitle.Visibility = Windows.UI.Xaml.Visibility.Visible;
}
Since the stackpanel is inside the listview & I am trying to make it visible on the tap event of the listview, I am not able to acheive the needed result. I know my code is wrong.
If I specify the stackpanel outside the listview, I can make it visible using the code I gave inside the ListView_Tapped function. But even in that case, I need to show the stackpanel (name of the image I clicked) inside the listview item (image I clicked).
Any help??
Can this be achieved using only XAML?
Here's a pure xaml way.
Rather than changing the Visibility of the imageTitle (not a great UX), let's change its Opacity to make its appearing more interesting.
First we need to create a storyboard inside this data template. This storyboard will fade in the imageTitle in 400ms.
And then we drag a ControlStoryboard behavior from Expression Blend's Asset panel onto the top level Grid. Basically we want the storyboard to fire off when this Grid is tapped.
Please see below code for reference.
<DataTemplate x:Key="GroupTemplate">
<Grid Background="Green">
<Grid.Resources>
<Storyboard x:Name="ShowImageTitleStoryboard">
<DoubleAnimation Duration="0:0:0.4" To="1" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.Opacity)" Storyboard.TargetName="imageTitle"/>
</Storyboard>
</Grid.Resources>
<Interactivity:Interaction.Behaviors>
<Core:EventTriggerBehavior EventName="Tapped">
<Media:ControlStoryboardAction Storyboard="{StaticResource ShowImageTitleStoryboard}"/>
</Core:EventTriggerBehavior>
</Interactivity:Interaction.Behaviors>
<Image Source="{Binding Image}" CacheMode="BitmapCache" Stretch="UniformToFill"/>
<StackPanel x:Name="imageTitle" Background="Blue"
HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Opacity="0">
<TextBlock Foreground="White" Text="Dumy Image Title" FontSize="10"/>
</StackPanel>
</Grid>
</DataTemplate>
Apart from JustinXL's answer it can also be done by using ChangePropertyAction. Also pure XAML:
<DataTemplate>
<Grid Background="Green">
<Image Source="{Binding imagePath}" CacheMode="BitmapCache" Stretch="UniformToFill">
<i:Interaction.Behaviors>
<ic:EventTriggerBehavior EventName="Tapped">
<ic:ChangePropertyAction TargetObject="{Binding ElementName=imageTitle}" PropertyName="Visibility" Value="Visible"/>
</ic:EventTriggerBehavior>
</i:Interaction.Behaviors>
</Image>
<StackPanel Name="imageTitle" Visibility="Collapsed" Background="Blue"
HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center">
<TextBlock Foreground="White" Text="Dumy Image Title" FontSize="10"/>
</StackPanel>
</Grid>
</DataTemplate>
It's just another way to change a property - JustinXL's answer will provide nice animation with opacity, which will look much better.
I dunno why you specifically want to handle the scenario using XAML. For the Microsoft's recommended MVVM model you should bind a property to your element field and then you can write a converter for the same to return back "Visible" or "Collapse".
