I am using webdriver to test our application that contain table where the user can change the order of columns in a table,and also can remove/add columns (This is beside new column added by developers).
What is the right way to find the column I need?
One way is to go over the table header to find the column I am looking for so I have the column index and than I can access the right cell.
Is there other way ?
What about put unique id/class name for every element in table ?

You can do two things for this situation:
Get handle to table element, and then navigate accordingly to get the columns or rows. Once you have this, then you can do all operations on them like click() etc.
Other way is, see the pattern of their ids/css because, most of the table that I have deal with will be having ids like this:
grid_name_1
grid_name_2
grid_name_3
Then you can have do this way:
String baseLocator = "grid_name_" + clickedRowIndex;
driver.findElement(By.id(baseLocator)).click(); //for click operation
Lets say user wants to click on the 3rd row, then clickedRowIndex will be 3 which selects the 3rd table row.

You could add a Parent Row Group and Group by the Information field.
Unfortunately, this would place the Information on the Left side of the table. Fortunately, there is a Layout Direction property for the table that can be switched from LTR to RTL so that the table is created from Right to Left instead of the default Left to Right.
This way the grouped information field on the right would only have one cell while there may be multiple Activities.
I'm not sure you'll be able to do this exactly how you want. This is because you cannot add rowgroup columns after non-grouped columns.
The only way you could get close is to not show the text if it's not the first row in the dataset (or rowgroup if the report is grouped somewhere)
You could use something like this in the Value expression.

The other option would be to move the test to the top of the table on it's own row in above the column headers, it would probably look neater..

I created a table in SAP via se11, then I used the table maintenance generator.
Now I edit the table via sm30:
The second and the third column: Both have the heading "Feldname".
The first "Feldname" column is called COLUMN_NAME and its data element is "Fieldname".
The second "Feldname" column is called AUTH_FIELD and its data element is "XUFIELD"
I would like to see the column names which I gave the columns in se16 (COLUMN_NAME, AUTH_FIELD) in the heading.
How to prevent the table maintenance generator from giving other names in the headings?
Option 1 - use custom data elements:
Instead of using Fieldname and XUFIELD data elements, you can create your custom data elements and give them what header you would like.
(You will have to regenerate table maintenance)
Option 2 - editing screen
When generated the table maintenance, you supplied a function group and a screen number.
Go to SE80 -> Function Groups -> <function_group_supplied> -> screens -> <screen_supplied>.
Then edit it as you want.
Note: Modifying a generated object is considered risky. Your customized changes might be overwritten in a future regeneration.
Add custom data elements with suitable descriptions. Let the new data elements refer to the original ones (resp. the domains) to avoid having to reinvent everything.
Data element descriptions can be translated.
You can set different descriptions for different lengths, e.g. "Field" for the narrow column with length 10, and "Field name" for a wide label with length 30.
Regenerating the maintenance screen won't accidentally delete the changed descriptions.
I have a table similar to below in a WPF application.
We are using Silk Test 17.5 using VB.NET.
Table is dynamically loaded based on latest data.
I need to click on 'Default' ( Link) for specific row.
e.g. I need to click on 'Default' link for Trump1 , Trump2 row.
How should I do it? All locators of default links are same and I cannot differentiate between them.
Is there any I can append First Name locator to Default to figure out which locator to click?

SilkTest has a framework for supporting such custom controls and a nice tutorial here
Theoretically you would have to:
List all the methods on the control
From the previous listing (or by talking with the developers) look up the method to access the rows inside the control
Filter your rows and get the one which is interesting for you
From the row you can get the cell by following the same pattern(find out the method which gives acces to it, get it, filter)
Click on the Link
Of course as the tutorial tells you, if you do not want to always do these iterations you should create some higher level utilities where you can just get the Cell at once. Example: GetGridViewRowCell(gridView, cellRow, cellColumn) where cellRows can be a more sophisticated filter object where you describe which cell must have which value in order to identify the proper row
Assuming the table has a hierarchical structure similar to HTML, you should be able to do the following:
Locate a cell in the row you are looking for that is easy to find, e.g. //WPFDataGridCell[#text='Obama'].
From that cell, move up the hierarchy one step using ...
Now you're in the correct WPFDataGridRow, search down again for the row's "Default" link with //WPFHyperLink[#caption='Default'].
Putting it all together, you'll get a locator like //WPFDataGridCell[#text='Obama']/..//WPFHyperLink[#caption='Default'].
Of course this is only an example based on the information you provided, so if you try it, make sure to pick the attributes with Silk Test's locator spy to make sure you get the correct values.
I have a file which consists of a few part numbers.Using this file i need to exclude data in dashboard in another table which also has part numbers.How to filter data out of the table based on the part numbers present in the file if the part numbers in the file can change over time?
When you import the file with a list of part numbers, add a calculated column under transformations (also make sure that it's not reading the first record of your part list file as a header row--I don't know what your file looks like). In the expression box, just enter something simple like 1. Call this new dataset something like part_list. This column represents a flag that we will add to the table that is already in your dashboard. Let's suppose that table is called data.
Once the file is imported, click Insert > Columns... and ensure that data is selected in the "Add columns to data table:" drop down box, and that part_list is selected in the "Add columns from:" menu. Click Next. Match the part number column in both tables, and click next. Add the flag column to data with a left outer join (assuming this makes sense with your data). Once the column is added, you can filter out the 1's.

I have a table with a bunch of different fields. One is named period.
The period is not part of the raw data but I run a query when I import new data to the database that gives each record a period.
Now I need a delete query that will delete all the records that have the same period as what is selected in a combobox.
The values in the combobox come from a calendar table that contain all the possible values that could be in that period column at any time.
This is the basic query i thought would solve this issue but it tells me it is going to delete 0 rows every time I run it:

WHERE PlanTemp.period = Forms![Plan Form]!Combo163;
If you don't need the key field, just remove it.
Look at the "PROPERTIES" section and look at the column names.
Ether remove it there, or from your QUERY source.
You can also look at the Data section of the properties, and change your BOUND column, to Column 2... or whatever holds the data you want to use.
