How can we update the Authorization Items in Yii RBAC tables? - yii

We have something like this, for example:
$auth=Yii::app()->authManager;
$auth->createOperation('createPost','create a post');
$auth->createOperation('readPost','read a post');
$bizRule='return Yii::app()->user->id==$params["post"]->authID;';
$task=$auth->createTask('updateOwnPost','update a post by author himself',$bizRule);
$task->addChild('updatePost');
$role=$auth->createRole('reader');
$role->addChild('readPost');
Then we run, and we get the database populated. Great.
Let's say I found some issues and I need to adjust the code.
Is there a way to programatically update the RBAC Yii tables?

Is it possible to use a my SQL inner join query inside my ASP.NET WEB API app directly, or is it better to translate, if so how can it be done?

I'm working on my first (kinda) big personal project and I am stuck. I have 4 tables, 3 of which have foreign keys linking into tbl_model_details. All tables are listed below.
tbl_model_details
tbl_model_type
tbl_model_name
tbl_model_scale
Ideally I want to show data through my controller with HTTP Get. I can get Postman to to return data from my controller using _context.tbl_model_details.ToList();
Currently Postman is showing the id's for the other tables, but want them to show data from other columns within those tables instead of the id.
Within SQL I was able to build this query which displays the information I would like from the other tables, Is there an equivalent that I could make to run inside my controller? Or is there a way I can use this query that I have already made?
SELECT model_scale, model_name, info, picture, model_type, part_number, amount_owned, modified, limited_addition, date_purchase, price_paid, upc
from tbl_model_details
join tbl_model_type
on tbl_model_details.type_id = tbl_model_type.type_id
join tbl_model_name
on tbl_model_details.name_id = tbl_model_name.name_id
join tbl_model_scale
on tbl_model_details.scale_id = tbl_model_scale.scale_id
Any help from you guys would be great.
Thanks
You can use Entity Frameworks LINQ Include. This will allow you to include the sub-models in the same query:
_context.tbl_model_details
.Include(details => details.tbl_model_type)
.Include(details => details.tbl_model_name)
.ToList();
Without knowing your relationships, DBSet and Model setups, I can say that the statement will look exactly like the one I mentioned, but this may help you get on the right track.
This will allow you to later retrieve data from the sub-models:
#Model.tbl_model_scale.model_scale;

Set a column data to another column in same model the rails way

Is there any shortcut method to set one column data to another in same model?
FYI I do know about for_each method in rails and I can implement that. However what I am trying to ask is if something like User.update_all(last_logged_at: last_sync_position) possible where last_logged_at and last_sync_position are columns of the model user
Also. This is not a migration file I am writing.
I have tried to search for the same but I got an answer in mysql but I am unable to figure out how to convert to rails way of it.
If i understand it correctly you want to update columnt last_logged_at for every User by last_sync_position(every User have its own value). So u duplicate data on model. Im not sure if this is necessery to solve problem that u have but if you found answer in mysql u could use "scope".
Anyway i found this:
Rails 3.x How to write update all based on row value?
that says this
User.update_all("last_logged_at=last_sync_position")
should work

Can a table field be founded and then updated with a value in mvc Controller

yeah so the question is pretty simple: Can a table field be found using and ID and then updated with a value in mvc Controller?
And before anyone gets downvote crazy... I have no example because I don't know how to do this... it's not a home work question or any other things that you down vote on this site. It's a simple question that I need an answer and a example.
I now you can use the .find to and pass the ID... to a dataset but there is nothing I can find that shows you how to edit the values in the table once you find it.
So this part I get, This will allow me to find the the id with in the dataset.
TEST_DS tEST_DS = db.TEST_DS.Find(id);
if (tEST_DS == null)
{
return HttpNotFound();
}
Also I know that you see a call to the database like This
db.TEST_TABLE.Add(TEST_DS);
I don't see an option for edit or anything like that.
The task is to update a table field, The field is a status field so when the user makes a change on the mvc create form. When they create a record I want to mark a different table's status field with a number that represents a record was created.
Did a search did not see anything.. thanks may be something mvc can't do because of it's limitations or something.
If you do answer question I will need an example of a link to an example on how to do it. Thanks!!
I was able to make this work some I will post It there for others as they might have the same issues when dealing that mvc limitations and such.
So the answer is to simply have your data table in the dbcontext that you need to edit...
The code would not post.. it asking for 4 spaces and I gave it 4 spaces and it did not work so I added a picture.

Adding lookups to given view

I'm just getting into Yii. I have a simple relational db. I have a "client" table related to "orders" table (client:id to orders:client_id). If I build my CRUD for orders i naturally see client_id, however I'd rather add a lookup for client name somehow
I have found how to do this on new and update _forms by adding a dropDownList. The list based views seem a little more complex. I can see that actionIndex() in the controller is gathering data and passing it to index.php, finally through to _view, but I can't find any help on where and how I should break into this with my lookup returning the client name
I'd appreciate any help
thanks
Check the Yii documentation about relations. You will need to create a relation in your orders table, lets call it client, Then in your list view where it generates client_id you can put client.name instead. Now you will need to make sure that you have the appropriate label because in the generated model it will only have a label for client_id, and you need a label for client.name. Yii will guess, or you can add it, or you can modify the label for client_id, and instead of using client.name in the view you can use
array(
'name'=>'client_id',
'value'=>$model->client->name,
)
I tend to gravitate towards more explicit definitions rather than shortcuts, but to each his own.

Getting user profile data in Silverlight 4

I am fairly new to Silverlight and RIA services, and I am trying to build a small project to understand it. So basically I created a Business Application, and I have the normal Login screen where I can add a user. That is fine and I can add a user and get him into the aspnet_Users table. Now I have created some extra fields, like Mob No, Tel No, DOB, Locality etc, which I have put in a table I have created called the UserProfile, and my idea is to get the username that was registered, and insert it into my UserProfile table with the other relevant data.
So I created a page called Profile.xaml, I created a UserProfileDomainService.cs where I have just one query, to get the user profile data from the table, and then created a Details DataGrid on my page, and the QueryName in my case is GetUserProfilesQuery(). Now what i wish to do is, get the user logged in, get his username, and check in my table to see if there is already data in the table. If there is populate the fields on the DataGrid with data, so that the user can modify this data, and if not, allow the user to insert data into the table.
So I have created a UserProfileViewModel class, and I want to create the query to get the data relevant to this user. However I got stuck on how to do all this, and how to get the user logged in.
Can anybody give me some advice or point me to some tutorials on how I can achieve this?
Thanks a lot and your help is very much appreciated.
In your domain service query you can use ServiceContext.User.Identity.Name to get the information specific to that user to include in your db query. I do something similar in our project.
We use entity framework so the LINQ to Entities query looks like:
return this.ObjectContext.UserSnapins
.Include("Snapin.EvolutionModule")
.Where(si => si.User.UserName == ServiceContext.User.Identity.Name)
.OrderBy(si => si.PageOrder);
