We want to redirect every page in Magento to https. We know how to change this in Magento, but we do not know how to do this in our current htaccess? For more information, please see our current htaccess file below, stripped from unnecessary comments.
Current htaccess:
RewriteEngine on
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteBase /
DirectoryIndex index.php
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} libwww-perl.*
RewriteRule .* – [F,L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s+/index\.php [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*?)index\.php$ /$1? [L,R=301,NC,NE]
RewriteRule ^api/rest api.php?type=rest [QSA,L]
RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} ^TRAC[EK]
RewriteRule .* - [L,R=405]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(media|skin|js)/
RewriteRule ^home/?$ /? [R=301,L,NC]
# ADD WWW TO NONE WWW FOR BOTH HTTPS AND NONE HTTPS
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS}s ^on(s)|
RewriteRule ^ http%1://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
#REDIRECT ALL .HTML FILES AND ALL .HTML/ FILES WITH TRAILING SLASH
RewriteRule ^google[0-9a-f]+.html$ - [L]
RewriteRule (.+)\.html$ /$1/ [L,R=301]
RewriteRule (.+)\.html\/$ /$1/ [L,R=301]
# ADD TRAILING SLASH
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
# TRAILING SLASH CHECK
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.*)/$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1/ [L,R=301]
#CHECK IF REDIRECT POINTS TO A VALID FILE
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
#REWRITE EVERYTHING ELSE TO INDEX.PHP
RewriteRule .* index.php [L]
Solved by adding:
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteRule ^/?(.*) https://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1 [R=301,L]
Add the below code
RewriteEngine on
after
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on
RewriteRule ^$ https://%{HTTP_HOST} [L,R]
And goto admin>SYStem>configuration>General>Web>
change all secure url and unsecure to https:

I have website on Phalcon and everything works fine (I have SSL) but now I would like to have an access to the forum (https://www.example.com/forum/) but I have a problem with the .htaccess configuration.
Phalcon have the specific config:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.example.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteRule ^.*$ https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [R,L]
RewriteRule ^$ public/ [L]
RewriteRule (.*) public/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
What is the correct configuration for home domain and /forum/ folder?
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.example\.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^ "http://www.example.com%{REQUEST_URI}" [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteRule ^ "https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI}" [R,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/forum/
RewriteRule ^.*$ public/$0 [L]
Phalcon's root .htaccess file redirects all traffic to /public folder.
What you need to do is add one more condition to your final rewrite rule. Here is portion of my .htaccess file:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
# Force www
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS}s ^on(s)|
RewriteRule ^ http%1://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
# Remove trailing slash
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.+)/$
RewriteRule ^ %1 [R=301,L]
# Forward to public/
RewriteRule ^(forum)($|/) - [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
This RewriteRule ^(forum)($|/) - [L] is the important condition you need to add before RewriteRule ^.*$ public/$0 [L]
Also you can add as much as rules you want to allow multiple folders.
RewriteRule ^(forum)($|/) - [L]
RewriteRule ^(some-other-folder)($|/) - [L]
...
I have a couple of rewrite rules in my .htaccess that seem to be conflicting.
I am running an ExpressionEngine (CodeIgniter) website that resolves all URI's using an index.php file. I have removed the index.php from the URI's for aesthetic reasons.
What I am trying to achieve:
Redirect 301 all pages with a trailing slash (example.com/bla/ =>
example.com/bla)
Remove index.php from all URI's
What I have now:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{SERVER_ADDR} !=127.0.0.1
RewriteCond %{SERVER_ADDR} !=::1
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
RewriteRule ^ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
RewriteCond $1 !^(images|system|themes|index\.php|admin\.php|favicon\.ico|robots\.txt|humans\.txt|crossdomain\.xml) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^GET.*index\.php [NC]
RewriteRule (.*?)index\.php/*(.*) /$1$2 [R=301,NE,L]
</IfModule>
What works:
All deeplinks are redirected to their non-trailing-slash version
(example.com/bla/ => example.com/bla).
index.php is removed from all deeplink pages.
What does not work:
The homepage (example.com) gives me an error in Google Chrome, saying "Too many redirects".
How do I update the conditions and rules so that I achieve clean links without a trailing slash, and without index.php, regardless of which page it is.
Have it like this:
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteCond %{SERVER_ADDR} !=127.0.0.1
RewriteCond %{SERVER_ADDR} !=::1
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteRule ^ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L,NE]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^GET.*index\.php [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*?)index\.php(/.*)?$ /$1$2 [R=301,NE,L]
RewriteCond $1 !^(images|system|themes|index\.php|admin\.php|favicon\.ico|robots\.txt|humans\.txt|crossdomain\.xml) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
Clear your browser cache before testing.
I have a .htaccess file which redirects the user to https:// and adds /de/index if nothing else is specified.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^(hotelaccess)($|/) - [L]
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^ - [L]
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} !^443$
RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}/de/index [L]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.mypage\.de
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.mypage.de/de/index [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/([^/]+)/?$ index.php?lang=$1&page=$2 [L,QSA]
but now if I enter https://www.mypage.de it get's redirected to https://www.mypage.de/index ? Why is that and what do I have to add to fix this?
Clarification: The default URL should always be https://www.mypage.de/de/index if entering with and without www and both http:// and https:// (also with or without www)
You need to put your redirects first, then your rewrites. You can also combine the two redirects into a single rule:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} !^443$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mypage\.de$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.mypage.de/$1 [R,L]
# for no URI
RewriteRule ^$ /de/index [L]
# for hotelaccess
RewriteRule ^hotelaccess - [L]
# for everything else
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/([^/]+)/?$ index.php?lang=$1&page=$2 [L,QSA]
I want to rewrite old Magento urls like this, if possible:
www.domain.tld/index.php => www.domain.tld/
www.domain.tld/index.php/category/ => www.domain.tld/category/
www.domain.tld/index.php/category/subcategory/ => www.domain.tld/category/subcategory/
This is how my Magento .htaccess looks like right now (redirecting none of the above).
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
#RewriteRule ^api/([a-z][0-9a-z_]+)/?$ api.php?type=$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^api/rest api.php?type=rest [QSA,L]
RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} ^TRAC[EK]
RewriteRule .* - [L,R=405]
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/mobiledirectoryhere/.*$
#RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "android|blackberry|ipad|iphone|ipod|iemobile|opera mobile|palmos|webos|googlebot-mobile" [NC]
#RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /mobiledirectoryhere/ [L,R=302]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(media|skin|js)/
# REMOVE HOME REWRITE FROM MAGENTO
RewriteRule ^home/?$ /? [R=301,L,NC]
# ADD WWW TO NONE WWW FOR BOTH HTTPS AND NONE HTTPS
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS}s ^on(s)|
RewriteRule ^ http%1://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
#REDIRECT ALL .HTML FILES AND ALL .HTML/ FILES WITH TRAILING SLASH
RewriteRule ^google[0-9a-f]+.html$ - [L]
RewriteRule (.+)\.html$ /$1/ [L,R=301]
RewriteRule (.+)\.html\/$ /$1/ [L,R=301]
# ADD TRAILING SLASH
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
# TRAILING SLASH CHECK
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.*)/$
#ADD SLASH IF MISSING AND THEN REDIRECT
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1/ [L,R=301]
#CHECK IF REDIRECT POINTS TO A VALID FILE
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
#SEND TO INDEX.PHP FOR CLEAN URLS
#RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L,QSA]
#REWRITE EVERYTHING ELSE TO INDEX.PHP
RewriteRule .* index.php [L]
</IfModule>
A big thanks in advance,
In your apache configuration file. e.g. httpd.conf. Append below code with change "Directory" with your actual DocumentRoot for the VirtualHost.
<Directory /var/www/html/www>
AllowOverride All
</Directory>
I want to redirect my website from
www.example.com to example.com
I use the following code in a ht access file:
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/[\w]+/www/(.*)$
RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/applications/%{REQUEST_URI} -f
RewriteRule ([\w]+\/www\/(.*)) /applications/$1 [NC,L,E=STOP:1]
#RewriteRule .* - [NC,L]
# Internal ENVs are prefixed with REDIRECT_
RewriteCond %{ENV:REDIRECT_STOP} !1
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?/$1 [L,QSA]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.example\.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*) http://example.com/$1 [L,R=301]
It works fine except but not quite.
When it redirects, it does this:
www.example.com > example.com/index.php?/
www.example.com/page/ > example.com/index.php?/page/
Where is the index.php? part coming from and how do I get rid of it?
Order of your rules is the problem. Keep redirect rules before internal rewrite ones:
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.example\.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*) http://example.com/$1 [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/[\w]+/www/(.*)$
RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/applications/%{REQUEST_URI} -f
RewriteRule ([\w]+\/www\/(.*)) /applications/$1 [NC,L,E=STOP:1]
#RewriteRule .* - [NC,L]
# Internal ENVs are prefixed with REDIRECT_
RewriteCond %{ENV:REDIRECT_STOP} !1
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?/$1 [L,QSA]
