Ektron workarea meta-data saving error: "There was no endpoint listening at..." - ektron

When updating meta-data on a page or in the Ektron workarea Settings, then this error is returned.
There was no endpoint listening at
http://example.com:8732/Ektron.ASM.EktronServices/CmsHelperService2.svc
that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect
address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more
details.
It mentions the Ektron Windows Service.
The meta-data is not propogating to the folder metadata options. Only to new folders that are created.

I found that address configured in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ektron\EktronWindowsService40\Ektron.ASM.EktronServices40.exe.config
The config points to a logs/ folder, the logs folder contains the following error which led me to this article: https://portal.ektron.com/KB/1088/
Which says:
"Check 'Windows features' or 'Role Services' for IIS6 Metabase
compatibility, add if missing:"

Error when update a content in ektron

I have an ektron8.7 application in which I'm trying to update a content. (I'm trying to make a content deleted by setting its ExpireDate)
Dim contentItem As ContentData = contentApi.GetItem(contentId)
contentItem.ExpireDate = DateTime.Now.AddDays(-1)
contentApi.Update(contentItem)
I am getting the following exception here
http://MyPC:8732/Ektron.ASM.EktronServices/CmsHelperService2.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details
and the InnerException is,
"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it MyIP:8732"
My website was upgraded from ektron 8.0 to 8.7
How can I resolve this error?
Make sure that your EktronWindowsService40 is running on your machine; that port 8732 indicates that the server is trying to send data to the service (which handles go live and expiration dates). If that is not running it won't be able to complete your request.
If it is running, make sure that the name 'MyPC' resolves to the address of the machine running the site.
If all else fails, check your Event Viewer, under 'Applications and Services log' - there is an event log called 'EktronL4' which is used by the Ektron Windows Service to log errors. If there are any entries besides 'Service Initialized Successfully', and 'Service Started Successfully' after starting the service, there is a problem with the service itself. At that point, call Ektron Support.

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found when accesing SVC service

I have REST service application which is hosted in an IIS 8 in a Windows 8 PC. When I request the service I am getting an error as follows ... HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found.
Here is the detailed error message.
HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Most likely causes:
•The directory or file specified does not exist on the Web server.
•The URL contains a typographical error.
•A custom filter or module, such as URLScan, restricts access to the file.
Things you can try:
•Create the content on the Web server.
•Review the browser URL.
•Create a tracing rule to track failed requests for this HTTP status code and see which module is calling SetStatus. For more information about creating a tracing rule for failed requests, click here.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
There are myriads of possible causes. In general, the target resource at given URL is not found, so it may be simply missing, misconfigured, not started, etc. First - check the server logs, they usually contain more detailed information about the issue.
Also, please doublecheck that the service really is up and running. Connect to the www server and check it via localhost not ip.com.
I'm not an expert, but judging from the snippet you provided, it seems to be WCF service, the Handler: StaticFile seems very odd. It seems like the IIS misinterpretes your request as a StaticFile (a resource read from the disks and just passed-through without any further processing) which for me seems perfectly wrong.
You may have not installed the service properly, or have url mappings and/or handlers messed up, or you may even have NET/ASP framework not properly installed.. What have you installed first? .Net or IIS?
check similar questios, there are many.. for example:
WCF on IIS8; *.svc handler mapping doesn't work
HTTP 404 when accessing .svc file in IIS
I had to enable HTTP Activation in .NET Framework 4.5 Advanced Services > WCF Services (running on WIndows 2012) and after an IISReset it worked fine.

Unable to reference WSDL of WCF web service hosted on AppFabric

I have developed a WCF service and, while in Visual Studio 2010, I can import the WSDL without a problem. After I've deployed it to AppFabric, I get the WSDL, but several schema files referenced internally in the WSDL cannot be found, for some reason. I don't know if it's a configuration issue, or what. The error I get when I try to process the WSDL in Visual Studio 2010 follows below:
Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved:
The WSDL document contains links that could not be resolved.
There was an error downloading 'http://myserver.mydomain.com:9871/app_deploy/MyAppService.svc?xsd=xsd0'.
The request failed with HTTP status 502: Proxy Error ( The
specified network name is no longer available. ).
Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved:

present, for more details.
The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the
solution and adding the service reference again.
The error is a proxy error because it goes through a proxy, but the error is because the page isn't there. I've tried accessing http://localhost:9871/app_deploy/MyAppService.svc?xsd=xsd0 at the server, but I get 404.
Why wouldn't these xsd files being found? Is it a deployment issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Man, I finally found the problem here. I needed write permission on C:\Windows\Temp for Application Pool user!
