Nokia X with Titanium and GCM? - titanium

I have a Titanium app working on Android with Google Cloud Messaging, and we've been asked to port it to Nokia X. All the Nokia Notifications documentation I can see just says how easy it is change from GCM to NN, but I can't find anything that clarifies...
A) Does getting the device token works in Titanium? I'm not using the Appcelerator cloud service for push but a plugin to get the GCM device token, presumably as all the APIs match this plugin should [hopefully] continue to work?
B) Is moving to NN is required? I don't see any benefit to moving, so is it possible to do nothing and continue to use GCM?

a) If you leave the implementation for the GCM there and work as suggested in OneAPK docuemntation, the original API should continue working just fine in environments it was working previously. The Nokia Notification API does not work with other than Nokia X devices, thus it can not be used there though.
b) It is required, the GCM doe not work on Nokia X devices, thus in order to get the notifications functionality, you would be required to use the API which is supported, i.e. the Nokia Notifications API.
Do check the documentations provided in nokia developer site for tasks needed for the porting effords.

In Codename One which is supported either GCM or FCM?

As per this link, FCM is the new version of GCM under the Firebase brand. In Codename One, which is supported? GCM or FCM?
We currently use GCM internally. We can switch to FCM but there is no real reason. Google has no intention of removing GCM as FCM (and a lot of apps) depend on it.
They are pushing FCM to push firebase. This provides no advantage to Codename One users as the easier API isnt' relevant (we abstract away the pains of GCM).
Bottom line is that you don't need to worry, if there is a need to switch to FCM we will do it for you and it will be seamless.
I'm not too familiar with Codename One so I decided to go ahead and look into their site. I found this Codename One page that guides about Push Notifications, but noticed that it's an old guide since this was still using the Developer Console when generating the Server Key (used for GCM/FCM).
With that, I went ahead and asked the Codename One chat support (lower-right side of the page). Chat history below:
Me:
Hey guys. I was wondering what Push Notification Services do you Support?
I've seen this link -- https://www.codenameone.com/how-do-i---use-push-notification-send-server-push-messages.html
Do you have your own Push Notification Service? Or are you guys using GCM? Is it already integrated with FCM too?
Lianna (Chat Support):
Hi,
we use the native push notifications for the respective platforms GCM, Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft and ipns.
Currently we use GCM and not FCM as the advantages given by FCM are mostly for API usage (which isn't applicable) and not very portable (available only for Android). When/if we switch to FCM this would be seamless thanks to our abstraction of the service.
FYI that video is a bit out of date, there is more up to date coverage in our developer guide.
Credit goes to Lianna (Kudos! :)). I think this here is the developer guide she was referring to.

google will no longer allow OAuth requests to Google in embedded browsers known as “web-views

google said they will no longer allow OAuth requests to Google in embedded browsers known as “web-views. actually starting 20 April 2017.
I work for LGE.
LG has been using android and ios webView in many services.
Changing it to android and ios sdk makes so many trouble in our company.
Dose anyone knows about this solution?
Is there any way to use webview countinuingly?
And..
Google said they will start blocking OAuth requests using web-views for all OAuth clients on platforms where viable alternatives exist.
LG smart TV uses WebOs platform, so there is no alternatives exists except for
using webviews.
how can we request exception for webos platforms?

Device tells us we need Google Play Services to Use Maps on Android device

we've been working with a 3rd party Android device that uses API 17. We want to make a native Google API app so that we can map data for our customers. What happens is the app crashes and it says "Google Play Services required". Is there a workaround to this? can we somehow embed or package a file that is good enough to use Maps? We've spoken with the hardware company and they made a decision to not allow google play services. We are partnering with them to release the device with a couple of apps we offer with the device. Any help is appreciated
Google Play services enables Maps to run on your Android devices, as per Google statement:
With Google Play services, your app can take advantage of the latest,
Google-powered features such as Maps, Google+, and more, with
automatic platform updates distributed as an APK through the Google
Play store. This makes it faster for your users to receive updates and
easier for you to integrate the newest that Google has to offer.
That means you need Google Play services to make Google Maps work.

Roku with Instant TV Channel and BrightScript Differences

I am a beginner for developing an app for Roku platform. I had few queries on instant tv channel and the BrightScript.
I tried installing the BrightScript plugin in eclipse to start with the Roku app development. I have CDN which provides set of web services which i can consume to show the videos or the content.
I have also created the account in Instant tv channel which takes inputs as URLs and easily I can create the channel and upload to the Roku app dev store.
Here my question is that
whether I should go ahead with BrightScript programming language for app development ?
Or Instant tv channel setup is better for creating my channels ?
Why people choose BrightScript instead of Instant TV Channel ? would like to know the Pros and cons of these two ways..
I might be wrong in understanding the usage of these. How can I develop the app for Roku Platform?
I have referred : http://forums.roku.com/ forums , http://www.instanttvchannel.com/roku/quick to understand the differences between these two techniques of developing the Roku app. I have also followed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQzk_Iq9dYI&feature=youtu.be to understand the app development and created the app.
Also Eclipse+ BrightScript plugin integration i did by following the http://sdkdocs.roku.com/display/sdkdoc/Eclipse+Plugin+Guide link
I've never used instant tv, but basically Brightscript means that you have full control (relatively) over your app.

To implement GCM requires the Google Play APK needs to be installed will restrict the number of user to use our android app?

GCM features is added with the Google Services. While developing android application to use the GCM the device require to have Google APK installed.
And I heard that some of the devices not having the Play Store APK or there is no support for GCM. The devices like Amazon Fire phone, xiaomi and all.
I want to develop an app to support all the user. Is not like the user having installed Play Store APK can use our application.
I thought of using pubnub. I don't know whether this is an right alternative. Because I am not finding any other way to overcome this issue.
Please help me on this.
Thanks in advance.
