does usb 3.0 port support usb 2.0 devices for laptop - usb

i am going to buy a Seagate 2 TB Back Up Plus Portable 2.5 inch Drive USB 3.0 2 TB External Hard Disk. But I have a DELL Inspiron 15r laptop, which is USB 2.0. Do USB 3.0 ports support USB 2.0 devices?

Yes they are backwards compatible see Here >>
Slightly unrelated to programming however...

How can I tell whether an HDD enclosure is USB 3.0 or 3.2 gen 2?

I bought an HDD enclosure. The Amazon description says that it is USB 3.2 Gen 2 to SATA III. The enclosed manual says it is USB 3.0 to SATA III. How can I tell which it really is? I have access to USBView (Windows 10) but I'm not sure what I am looking for. My NAS has linux so I can try it there, too.

USB 3.0 hub(s) connect as USB 2.0 devices (and consequentially their downstream devices)

I have an application where I have multiple USB 3.0 devices (cameras) that need to connect to a single USB 3.0 port. I've got some other external criteria (ESD protection, external power supply, etc) that has limited my hub options to a few industrial hubs.
While testing the hubs, I have found 3 that connect as USB 2.0 devices instead of USB 3.0, and are otherwise fully functional. I have verified the issue is not cabling and is independent of the USB hub chipsets (seen on both GL3520 and VLI VL812). The run between the motherboard and the chipset is very short ( < 2.0m).
My knowledge of USB is limited, but I assume there's some sort of negotiation that occurs when initially connecting (ex - Ethernet will auto-negotiate slower/half duplex if pairs are missing). Can anybody explain this process and why I might be connecting at lower speeds or at least point me in the right direction?
Thanks
I don't know much about this either, but it seems like the GL3520 hub is USB 3.1 and VLI VL812 is 3.0. Maybe those cameras are only compatible with one of them? Try moving them between hubs to see it that changes anything.

Raspberry Pi 2 B and Kinect V2

Is there anybody who can confirm it is possible to extract depth/RGB images from Kinect V2 + Kinect Adapter for Windows on Raspberry Pi 2 Model B?
As far as I know, Raspberry Pi 2 Model B has USB 3.0 which is a requirement for Kinect V2. I would like to know if anyone had success in RGB, IR and depth image transfer from Kinect V2 using libfreenect2 or any other similar way.
Furthermore, anyone knows any hardware similar to Raspberry Pi 2 (more expensive but still cheap) which supports Kinect V2?
According to the Raspberry Pi 2 datasheet, it only has USB 2.0 ports. So it won't work. :-(
The most basic hardware that works that I know of is the NVIDIA Jetson TK1. At $192 it's way more expensive then a Raspberry Pi, but cheaper than most other options. For more information on using libfreenect2 with the TK1, see this HOWTO
