If I upgrade BIRT should I upgrade existing reports or leave them as the old version? - apache

I have under 100 reports that were created and are running with BIRT 4.2.1. Clients are accessing them via Apache Tomcat 7.0. I have a developement clone of my production/testing enviorement, where I have BIRT 4.3.1. If I use the existing Apache link connection to run new 4.3.1 reports I will need to upgrade the Apache "runtime" files.
What are the advantage and disadvanges of converting the existing reports to 4.3.1?

I too had the same problem of upgrading old version to new version but what i done is just copy the version (or) XML TAGS where thes BIRT version declared from the new version to the old one and if the any exception raise and i just fix according to that, but i didnt have that much of exception and now its working fine for me.
NOTE: Please be sure yourself while changing what i mentioned above
Particularly i don't know the advantages and disadvantges of upgrading but in BIRT COMMUNITY CENTER they have mentioned the list of new feature regarding the 4.3 version Link
If you came to know about anything regarding the conversion just SHARE

Overriding Dojo version for a particular Xpages database

Apple's iOS 8 breaks certain tap functionality in versions of dojo prior to 1.9.4 (see Xpages mobile controls not working in iOS8
The current version of Dojo in Domino 9.0.1 FP2 is 1.9.2 but that does not fix the issue. You have to use at least 1.9.4.
I have downloaded 1.9.4 and placed it in the correct folder on our test server. But I cannot get things to work. I changed the folder name of dojo 1.9.4 to 1.4.0 as I only want to use this version for 2 dbs that are having the problem.
Question 1:
What line do I put in the xsp.properties file:
xsp.client.script.dojo.version = 1.4.0
xsp.client.script.dojo.path = / domjs / dojo-1.4.0
Question 2:
There are so many things to download when I go to the dojo download page. I downloaded the zip file and used that.
When I run code to test what version of dojo I have I get 1.9.4. But when I try to load my page, I get an error.
dojo._loaders: TypeError: dojo._loaders is undefined
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
You probably have the right dojo zip, this one: http://download.dojotoolkit.org/release-1.9.4/dojo-release-1.9.4.zip. As you say, unzip that to the dojo-1.9.4 folder in <server-install>\data\domino\js\, or name the folder 1.4.0 if you want to specify it for only a few apps.
You will indeed need to copy the IBM folder from the <server-install>\osgi\shared\eclipse\plugins\com.ibm.xsp.dojo_9.0.1.<date-stamp>\xsp.dojo.jar into your new 1.9.4 (or 1.4.0) dojo folder. Little chance of anything working without it. Copying the ibm folder from the 1.5.2 folder is a bad idea as that is old code, and you'd certainly have issues with it working with dojo 1.9.4. In Fix Pack 2, the ibm folder from the plugin was tested/designed to work with dojo 1.9.2 (the version in that jar), so it should play fairly nice with 1.9.4.
In your XPages app, in the xsp.properties, you should only need the line:
xsp.client.script.dojo.version = 1.9.4
Rebuild your app, restart the server etc, and you should be good to go.
DISCLAIMER: This is a work-around, not a supported solution by IBM. There may be unexpected issues using this approach. It's used at your own risk.
You commented already on that topic here so I think you tried this one? http://hasselba.ch/blog/?p=323

Facing problems in Clearcase 8 plugin for Eclipse Luna for config spec update

I have been using Eclipse Helios/Luna with plugin installation of clearcase plugin 8.0.1.x version and have imported the base code.
Recently, when trying to change the config-spec to update the build files, the process is running for hours continuously even without a single file.
Previously, we had Clearcase version as 7.0.x version and the corresponding plugin installed on Eclipse Helios without facing any issues.
But, have been facing issues during update of files after the upgrade of clearcase server to 8.0.x and with the corresponding client plugin in eclipse.
Also, tried manual update from repository for the whole folder. Still no luck.
But, if I know manually update the file one by one individually, it is going fine.
As the number of files in the project is more, it would not be efficient for us.
Can someone provide some alternatives to resolve this problem?
As a workaround, we have been creating new views everytime there is an update to the config-spec.
One workaround would be to switch to dynamic views, supported in the latest 8.x version of ClearTeam/ClearCase. No reload needed with those kind of views.
The other would be to test with a minimal config spec, and load rules making sure you are loading only as few files as possible (jsut to check that those files do update when you change the config spec).
It can also depends on the exact version of your ClearCase installation.
There are some patches for hanging issue (like "PM48668 Problem: The IBM Rational ClearTeam Explorer may hang intermittently when many views are started.")

Update OSGi Bundle in Apache Geronimo

I am an absolute novice with Apache Geronimo, so my forgive my obvious ignorance.
Apache Geronimo ships with older versions of the HTTPCore and HTTPClient libraries. The current version of OpenID requires at least v4.1 of both HTTPCore and HTTPClient. I have found the OSGi Bundle page in the Geronimo Console, and see how to use this to install a new bundle. I also see that existing bundles have an "update" option, although this does not seem to update either of these bundles to the latest version.
Is there an easy magical way to just update these? If I need to download bundles for the appropriate version, where, exactly, would I go to download them? I've located and downloaded JARs for these two libraries, and have included them in my project and been able to package it with Maven, but this doesn't (apparently) deploy the updated versions into Geronimo (i.e., it loads the old versions and I get runtime errors).
If I had bundles for the later version, the UI is pretty obvious as to how to install them - will that replace the existing version, or will I then have both versions installed? Will this present a runtime issue? If so, how do I remove the exiting bundle (I see no way via the UI to accomplish this).
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Dojo version upgrade from 1.3 to 1.7.3

While changing the dojo version from 1.3 to 1.7.3, I simply replaced all my dojo 1.3 folder files with dojo 1.7.3. After rebuilding my web application, I am getting error hxrFailed at dojo.js, line no 15.
What is the wrong that I am facing here? Do I need to change any existing code. Is there any document to refer for all the required changes.
Please help me to get out from this issue.
Thanks,
Sridhar.ch
Lots changed and there are some lengthy tutorials to help you migrate. Check out the documentation tab on Dojo's website:
1.x to 2.0 migration guide:
http://dojotoolkit.org/reference-guide/1.8/releasenotes/migration-2.0.html
Updated buildsystem tutorial:
http://dojotoolkit.org/documentation/tutorials/1.8/build
In theory the current (1.8) build system is backward compatible until 2.0, but in practice I'm not sure it is 100% backward compatible because my 1.6 build profile didn't work with 1.7.x and up. I didn't try that hard to get it to work though.
I have gone through the same. the xhrFailed error occurred for me for multiple reasons. One of the reason was a missing a file in the define as below:
define(["something/was/missing/here"],function(){});.
Another cause for the same error occurred was when a folder in a path of a dependency was renamed but not updated in the application build profile. (This case only if your are doing custom builds).
See if that is the case!

Xwiki - Error with Apostrophe in Space Title or Page Title

I have installed a fresh install of XWiki on a Windows platform.
The XWiki instance was installed using hsql for data storage.
The XWiki instance is hosted on Apache Tomcat.
Some of my users entered an apostrophe into the title of a page as well as the page content.
I received the following error:
http://jira.xwiki.org/jira/browse/XE-767
What is my next step to fix my broken XWiki instance?
Is there a way to upgrade a XWiki instance to a version that works? How do I save my existing content?
From reviewing the developers comments, it appears that issue has been corrected.
I, however, do not have enough background in Java or XWiki to know how I can move forward.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Indeed, the best solution is to upgrade to a newer version. Don't worry, upgrades are not that difficult.
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/AdminGuide/Installation#HUpgradinganXWikiInstallation
There are two parts in an upgrade: the platform, meaning all the files on the filesystem, and the wiki content, since quite often things change in the default wiki documents. Your specific bug can be fixed by upgrading the platform part, so if you're not too confident about upgrading the wiki content, you can just leave the old content in place.
In order not to lose your current database, be sure to leave the old "database" folder in place, and just replace the "webapps\xwiki" part.
From the error report the versions that fix the issue are
2.7 - http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise27
2.6.1 - http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise261
You can upgrade to one of them or to any following version, like XE
3.0 - http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise30
All versions can be downloaded from http://forge.ow2.org/project/showfiles.php?group_id=170
In a project that has such a rapid development cycle is very good to upgrade often in order to benefit from the latest features and bug fixes.
