I want to write a custom layout generator. Where do I put it? Details appreciated!
I have the download from here: https://github.com/cytoscape/cytoscape.js/wiki/Downloads
The null layout is a good example, because it goes through all the layout structure and protocol with trivial layout logic:
Link: https://github.com/cytoscape/cytoscape.js/blob/master/src/extensions/layout/null.js
You could use the null layout as a base. Instead of putting the nodes all at (0, 0), you would replace that with your own layout logic.

Is there any way of adding text/shape annotations, like we can do in Cytoscape desktop? A workaround for this is create a node, and use it to create the annotation... But this does not seem the right solution.
Cytoscape.js is a library -- not a full-fledged app. That means if you want app-level features like annotations, then you'll have to develop a feature on top of the library for that.
You could try using in-built things like nodes for this purpose, but you'd be better off creating an overlay div on top of the Cytoscape div in which you put your annotations.
If you want, you could organise your annotations feature as an extension so your code is more modular and reusable: http://js.cytoscape.org/#extensions
I would encourage you to publish your extension if you decide to go that route.
Just discovered the KendoGrid and was trying to change the style of an individual column(cell) after changing another cellvalue. For example I have a grid with a shipname and shipcity column. Suppose I have a business rule that says :
'Make shipcity cell value disabled when the shipname on the same row has the same value'
I found this sample which uses the blur event which I probably use, what would be a good way of implementing this rule?
Also nice to know your opinion in relation to asp.net mvc integration.

You can try the updated fiddle example here
Basically conditional editor templates are not supported out of the box. You have two options.
Either use the edit event of the Grid find the editor inside e.containder and disable it the way it needs to be (if using Kendo widget use the enable(false) method, or add the readonly attribute if regular input).
The other options is to define custom editor like demonstrated in this JsBin example.
I am busy teaching myself FXML.
I'm doing this by following this example.
It's a simple text editor.
However, in the tutorial everything is Java code.
I myself am using FXML to seperate the view of the logic.
I currently face the following challenge:
I have defined an TextArea in my FXML like so:
<TextArea id="taTextArea" fx:id="taContent" wrapText="true" />
Usually you add action listeners using onAction="#actionName"
What I want to know is, how can I do something similar for text changes. So I can detect wether a save is needed, modify the status bar label etc.
I want to avoid having to attach the TextArea to a change listener in the init method of the controller(implementing Initializable).
Also.. when I complete this application, I will write a blog about it.
With the lacking FXML documentation, I think itll be helpfull to other newbies.
So I want my code to be as clean as possible.
EDIT 1
No progress yet. I need to know if theres a thing such as code completion in FXML
So I can check what kind of properties I can use in FXMl. There should be a textLength property. In the provided link the author uses lengthProperty.addListener. I need an FXML equivilant
You could use the onKeyPressed property:
onKeyPressed="#textChanged"
which calls the textChanged method in the specified controller.
For the second question: The best reference for FXML currently is the javadoc of JavaFX, since all properties are listed there.
I have implemented the getAdditionalData in ExtJS's grid.panel.
I have it showing the extra information but I want to style the extra row. Basically make the font smaller, etc.
Other than wrapping my data in span tags, is there another way to alter the style for those rows?
Thanks.
I found the answer. It was just easier to use a custom renderer.
In asp.net the DataGrid supports templates. You can provide your own template and have the grid fill the data in your template.
With Dojo Grid, it seems like I can't make my own template outside of the the rigid simplistic cell style grid that Dojo provides.
Does anyone know a way to use a custom template with Dojo Grid? Specifically, with Dojo you're forced to use a cell that corresponds to a data item. I'm looking to use a table as a template with any styling that I choose (rows, columns, rowspans, colspans, more than one data items in a single cell, etc).
Any clues please?
Thanks
Firstly, it sounds like everything you want is available by customizing the grid. You can do nesting of cells and even have things like Filtering Selects in rows. Unfortunately the docs on this are not awesome so it takes Googling and trial and error if you want very customized features.
Secondly, because of the OO nature of Dojo you can always use inheritance to create mixes of various widgets. Specifically the _templated class allows you to specify an HTML template for your widget, which themselves can included templated widgets.
If that sounds non-trivial, you're right, which is why I would suggest digging deeper into the Enhanced grid and probably open up the code before trying to write something yourself.
I can tell you that I struggled getting it working correctly, but I have hence been pleasantly surprised by features that I needed that I thought I would need to build myself but were built into the grid.
