Access cannot control PC outside it's purview.
I suggest, you use Scripting language to achieve your desired results.

I am using webdriver.io framework. At my application, I have a button that opens a Windows Open prompt (Native), and there I need to choose a folder/file and click Open.
Then returning to my application and continue.
Is there a way to move focus on to this window and control it (Select a path and click Open)?
If not- Is there any other solution someone can offer?
The short answer is probably not, you can't control native dialogs from webdriver.
If it's a file input type for which you want to set a file, you might possibly use webdriver to evaluate a piece of javascript to set the HTMLInputElement.files value of the input element.
This works in modern browsers as mentioned in the mozilla docs
I'm working with a Bloomberg data sheet and I need to export this sheet into Excel. The only way of doing so is through clicking the "export" button in the Bloomberg window. Is there any way to use code to accomplish this click. I would appreciate help with 1) indicating which coding language should be used 2) the physical code syntax that can accomplish my goal
I've tried using VBA, but there is no automatic control of the mouse.
There are two alternatives you may use to simulate mouse and keyboard automation on Windows platform.
AutoHotKey
AutoIT
I would personally recommend using AutoHotKey. It has a very extensive documentation and a fairly active community.
Additionally, please try to use keyboard shortcuts (E.g Alt+F) instead of mouse movements. If you're using keyboard shortcuts, you'll be less prone to unwanted behaviour.
Extra: If you have a web application, you may use Selenium. It works neatly with Java or Python.
Sorry if this is a mundane question.
My issue is that the user can click on the "Help" button, which by default will open in a new tab, the help page.
When firing the test in Firefox, it creates a new window. Which is great as I can use the Select Window keyword and give it the URL. However, with Chrome and Edge, it just makes a new tab.
I read that Tabs aren't supported - But the weird part is, the test on Edge passes fine, it is just Chrome which is having the problem. Is there a reason behind that?
Is there a way to force it to be a Window and not a Tab? Or something?
I read that I can input a keyboard shortcut of CTRL + Tab. But that feels really dirty and would prefer a better way of doing it.
Error:
ValueError: Unable to locate window with URL 'http://...
EDIT
OK - So instead of using the URL param, I tried the title instead. Just on a whim. And it worked (?) I have no idea how it worked and why using the URL didnt and the title did: Here are the lines I used:
Run Keyword If '${Browser}' == 'Chrome'
... Select Window 1.7.1 User Guide
... ELSE
... Select Window 1.7.1 User Guide - Welcome to the User Guide
Still though, both the "Gets" did not produce a link to the newly created tab / window though :/ - Many thanks to shicky and Helio!
Are tabs not handled largely the same as windows? You should be able to identify what is on the screen as #Helio says by using one of the following:
Get Window Identifiers
Get Window Names

I am taking a class and our instructor gave us a file to download called cs.bak and its supposed to be formatted for the version of SQL we are using. So I downloaded the one for Microsoft SQL Server.
Well I tried to do the restore but when I get to the part that I choose device and locate the file cs.bak it loads and now I am suppose to be able to choose destination. Well after I choose destination I do not have the OK button to go through with the restore.
On these instructions http://www.katieandemil.com/sql-server-2012-restore-database-backup-file
If you count the window screens. I can only get as far as the 6th screen.
I am suppose to do this, "Some questions will ask you to write out query results from a database. In order to answer these questions you will need to have the example database available to you."
Well I can't open it to do this. Any help would appreciated. Thank you.
Check this:
This checkbox might be unchecked - and then the [OK] button remains disabled...
This seems to be a Windows Layout issue. To resolve this, reset the SSMS Window Layout by selecting from the main menu Window -> Reset Windows Layout.
Shell ("explorer.exe www.google.com")
is how I'm currently opening my products ad page after successful install. However I think it would look much nicer if I could do it more like Avira does, or even a popup where there are no address bar links etc. Doing this via an inbrowser link is easy enough
<a href="http://page.com"
onClick="javascript:window.open('http://page.com','windows','width=650,height=350,toolbar=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,location=no,directories=no,status=no'); return false")">Link text</a>
But how would I go about adding this functionality in VB?
If you want it to look professional, you need to use an actual browser component. VB.NET comes with one. If you are using an older version of VB, you'd need to go third party. If you want to stay with a shell open, you would have to individually target the browser command-line and pass arguments to indicate that it should not have toolbars etc.
Speaking as a user, I find castrated popup windows annoying and unproductive.
So my answer is: "don't".
