Grouping a row based on field in a different table in oracle - sql

I am working with these two tables for the past two days
parts_list table:
PART_ID VENDOR_ID LABEL
1 5 A
1 2 B
1 3 C
2 2 D
2 3 E
3 3 F
vendor_prsdnc table:
VENDOR_ID PRSCDNC
5 3
2 2
3 1
Can anybody please tell me how to retrieve the label of each part from the vendor with highest precedence? For example the part with id one is supplied by 3 vendors but we need the one from vendor with highest precedence ie 5. The expected result is:
PART_ID VENDOR_ID LABEL
1 5 A
2 2 D
3 3 F
[Vendor Id is not proportional with the precedence ]
I have this query
SELECT
SDS.PART_ID,
SDSIS.VENDOR_ID,
MAX(SDSIS.PRSCDNC)
FROM PARTS_LIST SDS,VENDOR_PRSDNC SDSIS
WHERE SDS.VENDOR_ID=SDSIS.VENDOR_ID
GROUP BY SDS.PART_ID,SDSIS.VENDOR_ID;
but it does not return the expected result.

Not tested ,but it should work i think
select part_id,vendor_id,label
from
(
select pl.part_id
,pl.vendor_id
,pl.label
,vp.prscdnc
,max(vp.prscdnc) over (partition by pl.part_id) mx
from part_list pl,vendor_prsdnc vp
where pl.vendor_id=vp.vendor_id
)
where prscdnc =mx;

Merge row values based on other column value

I'm trying to merge the values of two rows based on the value of another row in a different column. Below is my based table
Customer ID
Property ID
Bookings per customer
Cancellations per customer
A
1
0

B
2
10
1
C
3
100

4
100

D
5
20

Here is the SQL query I used
select customer_id, property_id, bookings_per_customer, cancellations_per_customer
from table
And this is what I want to see. Any ideas the query to get this would be? We use presto SQL
Thanks!

We can try:
SELECT
customer_id,
ARRAY_JOIN(ARRAY_AGG(property_id), ',') AS properties,
bookings_per_customer,
cancellations_per_customer
FROM yourTable
GROUP BY
customer_id,
bookings_per_customer,
cancellations_per_customer;

Identify a FK which has the highest value from a list of values in its source table

I have following tables.
Part
id
name
1
Part 1
2
Part 2
3
Part 3
Operation
id
name
part_id
order

Op 1

3
10
Lot
id
part_id
Operation_id
10
1
2
11
2
5
12
3
6
I am selecting the results from Lot table and I want to select a column last_Op which is based on the order value of the operation_id. If value of order for the operation_id is the highest for the respective part_id, return 1 else return 0
SELECT
id,
part_id,
operation_id,
last_Op
FROM Lot
expected result set based on the tables above.
id
part_id
operation_id
last_op
10
1
2
0
11
2
5
1
12
3
6
1
In above example, first row returns last_op = 0 because operation_id = 2 is associated with part_id = 1 and it has the highest order = 30. Since operation_id for this part is not pointing towards the highest order value, 0 is returned.
The other two rows return 1 because operation_id 5 and 6 are associated with part_id 2 and 3 respectively and they are pointing towards the highest 'order' value.
If value of order for the operation_id is the highest for the respective part_id, return 1 else return 0
This sounds like window functions will help:
select l.*,
(case when o.order = o.max_order then 1 else 0 end) as last_op
from lot l left join
(select o.*,
max(o.order) over (partition by o.part_id) as max_order
from operations o
) o
on l.operation_id = o.id;
Note: order is a very poor name for a column because it is a SQL keyword.

Left Join Display All Data From Table1 and Table2

I am trying to do a left join so that I get all of my rows from Table 1 even if there is no value corresponding to it in the second table.
My structures are:
Location Table:
ID LocName
1 Trk1
2 Trk2
3 Trk3
4 Unk
Quantity Table:
ID PartID Quantity LocationID
1 1 2 1
2 3 12 2
3 2 6 1
4 6 8 3
5 6 5 1
I am trying to join but also make a query on a specific PartID. My query is:
SELECT
INV_LOCATIONS.ID AS LocationID,
INV_LOCATIONS.NAME AS LocationName,
INV_QUANTITY.QUANTITY AS Quantity
FROM INV_LOCATIONS
LEFT JOIN INV_QUANTITY ON INV_LOCATIONS.ID = INV_QUANTITY.LOCATION_ID
WHERE INV_QUANTITY.PART_ID = 1;
My output right now would be:
ID LocName Quantity
1 Trk1 5
3 Trk3 8
The Desired output is:
ID LocName Quantity
1 Trk1 5
2 Trk2 NULL/0
3 Trk3 8
4 Unk NULL/0
I assume it is because I have the WHERE INV_QUANTITY.PART_ID = 1 and that is forcing it to be in the quantity table. I need to be able to verify it is on the right part but how do I also include it if it doesn't exist. I know I have done something very similar before but I cannot remember which project and so I cannot find the code anywhere.
You need to move the filtering logic to the ON clause:
SELECT il.ID AS LocationID, il.NAME AS LocationName,
iq.QUANTITY AS Quantity
FROM INV_LOCATIONS il LEFT JOIN
INV_QUANTITY iq
ON il.ID = iq.LOCATION_ID AND iq.PART_ID = 1;

Get max value from a joined list paired with another column in DB2

I have the following tables:
Table I:
etu | nr |
1 2
2 2
2 3
2 1
3 4
3 9
Table A:
etu | rsp | nr
2 8 2
2 7 3
2 3 1
3 2 4
3 6 9
Now what I want to have as a result table is
etu | nr | rsp
2.. 3 7
3.. 9 6
So etu and nr are linked together and if multiple equal etu entries are available only the one with the highest nr is taken and the rsp value is added in the result table. in addition if more etu entries are available in the table I there are .. added to the etu value.
Explain: For the 3 9 6 row: The last row on table I is 3 9 so 3 is the number that is looked for and 9 is the highest number for the 3 rows. So we take that and add the rsp value for that ( 6 ) and we add that to the result table. For the 2 row it is the same 2 3 being the highest 2 row in table I.
I got something like:
select x.etu, x.rsp, y.nr from(
select i.etu etu, max(i.nr) maxnr, a.rsp from i left join a on
i.etu=a.etu and i.nr=a.nr group by etu)t
inner join a x on x.etu=t.etu and x.nr=t.nr inner join y on y.etu=t.etu
and y.nr=t.nr
or
select i.etu, max(i.nr) a.rsp from i left join a on i.etu=a.etu and
i.nr=a.nr grounp by
None even get me close to get the results that I want less add the .. after the etu when having the right result.
The system is DB10.5 Windows.
Thank you for all your help in advance.

I would use a CTE here like this:
with tmp as (
select i.etu, max(i.nr) as nt, count(*) as cnt
from i
group by i.etu)
select case
when tmp.cnt = 1 then char(a.etu)
else concat(rtrim(char(a.etu)), '..')
end as etu,
a.nr,
a.rsp
from tmp
left outer join a
on a.etu = tmp.etu
and a.nr = tmp.nr
The CTE provides the information necessary to join with a to get the correct response, and append the .. as necessary.

Selecting Data from Same Table that Doesn't Match

I have found several solutions for my type of problem, but I having trouble applying it in my situation.
Essentially I have a Vehicle Table:
License VIN Region
1 1 1
1 2 2
2 3 1
2 3 2
3 4 1
3 4 2
3 5 3
I want to take the license and vin from region 1 and see if the vin matches in all other regions based on the license. If it doesn't I want all the rows that don't match, but if it does match I don't want the row. So a complexity does come in when say I have 3 licenses and region 1 matches one row, but not the other, I want both the unmatched and region 1; however, when I have 3 licenses that all match I don't want any rows including region 1.
So my results in this case would be:
License VIN Region
1 1 1
1 2 2
3 4 1
3 5 3
I am using SQL Server 2005.
I think this is what you're looking for
SELECT DISTINCT a.*
FROM Vehicle AS a
INNER JOIN Vehicle AS b
ON a.License = b.License
WHERE a.VIN != b.VIN
AND a.Region != b.Region
AND (a.Region = 1 OR b.Region = 1)
