How do I set value of DateTextBox? - dojo

So basically I have these two DateTextBoxes and I want to copy the value from one to another? Sounds easy, right? Still, it is not...
I tried to do it this way:
dojo.byId("datetextbox1").value = dojo.byId("datetextbox2").value;
it actually looks like the value changes as the content of the field changes, but it doesn't really. When I inspect the element with firefox it still contains the old value in the code and when I try to submit the form, the old value is sent!
So my question is: how should I change that damn value?

You'll want to set the value on the widget and not directly on the node.
dijit.byId("datetextbox1").set('value', dijit.byId("datetextbox2").get('value'));
dijit.byId grabs widgets, dojo.byId grabs dom nodes

Apex, Dynamic action, Confirm action, not picking up correct text - what am I missing?

I'm obviously missing something and hoping someone might be able to help.
I've an Interactive Grid, and a button.
When the button is pressed the dynamic action on the button has 2 steps.
Action 1 - Execute Javascript to take a value from one of the IG cells and put it into a page item.
Action 2 - Confirm Action - Are you sure you wish to delete &P10_JOB_ID.
I've made the page item, &P10_JOB_ID, visible and I can see the value has correctly been changed to the value from the IG.
I write P10_JOB_ID into a database table - I get the correct value
But the confirm message isn't picking up the correct value from P10_JOB_ID.
Namely it uses the value in P10_JOB_ID when the page starts, but then as I move around the IG pressing the button and changing the value of P10_JOB_ID, the text in the confirm message never changes.
Can anyone suggest what I might have missed, I'm baffled.
Thanks a lot
Substitutions like &P10_JOB_ID. are made when the page is rendered, not dynamically, so reflect the value at time of page load.
You will need to use Javascript to perform the conform action, something like:
apex.page.confirm ('Are you sure you wish to delete ' + $v('P10_JOB_ID') + '?', 'DELETE');
$v is an APEX Javascript function that returns the current value of a page item.
I used 'DELETE' as an example of a request value; you may want to do something different here.
Ok - having the setting of value and confirm as 2 separate actions is what causes the problem.
As per fac586
That is the expected behaviour. Static text substitutions are performed once during page show processing. They are not evaluated dynamically in the browser at runtime as values change.
Drop the second action and extend the first to display the confirm dialog using the apex.message.confirm JS API method, accessing the item value using the $v shorthand method.

Capybara: Find element by attribute containing something NOT

I am having the following issue in my Capybara environment:
I need to search for an element. This element contains an attribute, which is unique. The attribute is changed asynchronously.
I need the content of this attribute, but when I just search for the attribute I am getting a nil.
I could wait until the attribute has the property, but since this is Capybaras job, I thought there might be a possible selector, which can search for something like:
find('button[uniqueattribute] != nil')
Any ideas how to do this?
Thanks already!
If the attribute is being added to the button element (didn't have the attribute originally) then you can just do
find('button[attribute_name]')
which will wait (up to Capybara.max_default_wait_time seconds for a button element with that attribute to be on the page - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/Attribute_selectors. To wait and then get the contents/value of that attribute you could do
find('button[attribute_name]')['attribute_name']
If you just want to wait until the attribute is either not there or not blank then you can do
find('button:not([attribute_name=""])')
If you need to ensure the attribute is there, but isn't blank it would be
find('button[attribute_name]:not([attribute_name=""])')
I found a possible solution:
You can check the length of an element by Xpath (which is awesome) with string-length.
So in my case the solution was:
find(:xpath, ".//button[#unique_attribute_name[string-length() != 0]]")
Now Capybara waits until the attribute has a value. If there are more pretty solutions, just tell me.

QTP - Checking dynamic pages

I'm trying to check if a value is contained in the innertext of a webelement but I'm having a little problem: frames seem to change at every refresh of the pages.
These are the steps I've recorded:
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_header").Image("Gestione Anagrafiche").Click<br>
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl").WebEdit("pdrBean.pdrPod").Set parameter("POD")<br>
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl").WebButton("Cerca").Click
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl_2").Image("show_files").Click
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl_6").Image("Lente").Click
cctype = Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl_7").WebElement("arrow_down").GetROProperty("innertext")<br>
DataAct = Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl_7").WebElement("arrow_down_2").GetROProperty("innertext")<br>
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_header").Image("Gestione Anagrafiche").Click
The frames "dme2_appl6" and "dme2_appl7" changes at every refresh of the two pages.
The question is simple: how can I rewrite these two actions to make them universal?
I've tried to do something like:
Set objFrame = Frame("title:=dme2_appl_.")
and then
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").objFrame.Image("Lente").Click
But QTP gives me an error in return: "property or method not supported by the object"
Please try using the below code
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Image("Lente").Click
Avoid using the "Frame" and if you really want to use it, put regex for name property of Frame.
Go to Object Properties--> Click on the Frame object --> Mandatory Properties--> Change name property as
like iFrame_213123123 to i.*
Hope this will solve your problem.
I don't think you can use a frame object that way. When you write Page().Frame() UFT sets the frame's parent in different way than if you first create the Frame.
Think of Frame() as a function that behaves differently when called on a Page or as a free function.
Try:
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("title:=dme2_appl_.")

django-autocomplete-light doesn't show 'add-another' button

I wasted a lot of time trying to solve this problem but didn't find any solution. I wanted to use django-autocomplete-light in Admin-interface not only selecting values existing in another table but adding new values. If I use it like this:
class MeaningAdmin( admin.ModelAdmin):
form = autocomplete_light.modelform_factory( Meaning)
everything is Ok and I can see and use 'add-another'-button on the form, but when I use it like following:
class MeaningAdmin( admin.ModelAdmin):
form = MeaningForm
'add-another'-button disappears. Does anybody know how to force get this button back in the 2nd case?

dojox.grid.DataGrid: how to access data from a click event?

I'm using Dojo 1.5 (including dojox). I have a dojox.grid.DataGrid where each row represents a user. When I click a row, I want to redirect to a URL like /users/USER_ID. The user ID is one of the fields in the grid, so all I need to do in my onRowClick callback is to grab the user ID for the row that was clicked.
The click event contains a rowIndex property, and, indeed, I found a (rather old) post elsewhere that suggested I should be able to do:
var row = dijit.byId('grid').model.getRow(e.rowIndex);
/* (Then grab the 0th field of the row, which is the user ID.) */
(Sorry, I've since lost the URL.)
But my grid object has no model attribute. What's up with that? Has the API changed? (My grid certainly is populated with data, which I can see, click, sort by column, et cetera).
So I'm stuck for now. Note, BTW, that it won't work to use rowIndex to directly access the grid's underlying dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore. That's because the grid is sortable, so there's no guarantee that the grid's rows will be in the same order as the store's.
Any hints would be deeply appreciated. I hope that the question is clear, and sufficiently general that any answers can help others in my predicament. Many thanks.
I have a similar scenario and I grab the value like this:
onRowClick: function(e) {
open_link(my_grid._getItemAttr(e.rowIndex, 'object_path'));
}
In this case my_grid is a reference to the datagrid and object_path is the column where I store the path to the object. open_link is of course a custom function of mine that as it implies, requests a server path.
So just change the specifics to suite your case and you should be fine.
