dojox.grid.DataGrid: how to access data from a click event? - dojo

I'm using Dojo 1.5 (including dojox). I have a dojox.grid.DataGrid where each row represents a user. When I click a row, I want to redirect to a URL like /users/USER_ID. The user ID is one of the fields in the grid, so all I need to do in my onRowClick callback is to grab the user ID for the row that was clicked.
The click event contains a rowIndex property, and, indeed, I found a (rather old) post elsewhere that suggested I should be able to do:
var row = dijit.byId('grid').model.getRow(e.rowIndex);
/* (Then grab the 0th field of the row, which is the user ID.) */
(Sorry, I've since lost the URL.)
But my grid object has no model attribute. What's up with that? Has the API changed? (My grid certainly is populated with data, which I can see, click, sort by column, et cetera).
So I'm stuck for now. Note, BTW, that it won't work to use rowIndex to directly access the grid's underlying dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore. That's because the grid is sortable, so there's no guarantee that the grid's rows will be in the same order as the store's.
Any hints would be deeply appreciated. I hope that the question is clear, and sufficiently general that any answers can help others in my predicament. Many thanks.

I have a similar scenario and I grab the value like this:
onRowClick: function(e) {
open_link(my_grid._getItemAttr(e.rowIndex, 'object_path'));
}
In this case my_grid is a reference to the datagrid and object_path is the column where I store the path to the object. open_link is of course a custom function of mine that as it implies, requests a server path.
So just change the specifics to suite your case and you should be fine.

Apex, Dynamic action, Confirm action, not picking up correct text - what am I missing?

I'm obviously missing something and hoping someone might be able to help.
I've an Interactive Grid, and a button.
When the button is pressed the dynamic action on the button has 2 steps.
Action 1 - Execute Javascript to take a value from one of the IG cells and put it into a page item.
Action 2 - Confirm Action - Are you sure you wish to delete &P10_JOB_ID.
I've made the page item, &P10_JOB_ID, visible and I can see the value has correctly been changed to the value from the IG.
I write P10_JOB_ID into a database table - I get the correct value
But the confirm message isn't picking up the correct value from P10_JOB_ID.
Namely it uses the value in P10_JOB_ID when the page starts, but then as I move around the IG pressing the button and changing the value of P10_JOB_ID, the text in the confirm message never changes.
Can anyone suggest what I might have missed, I'm baffled.
Thanks a lot
Substitutions like &P10_JOB_ID. are made when the page is rendered, not dynamically, so reflect the value at time of page load.
You will need to use Javascript to perform the conform action, something like:
apex.page.confirm ('Are you sure you wish to delete ' + $v('P10_JOB_ID') + '?', 'DELETE');
$v is an APEX Javascript function that returns the current value of a page item.
I used 'DELETE' as an example of a request value; you may want to do something different here.
Ok - having the setting of value and confirm as 2 separate actions is what causes the problem.
As per fac586
That is the expected behaviour. Static text substitutions are performed once during page show processing. They are not evaluated dynamically in the browser at runtime as values change.
Drop the second action and extend the first to display the confirm dialog using the apex.message.confirm JS API method, accessing the item value using the $v shorthand method.

How do I pre-select rows in a DataTable based on the value in a column?

Situation:
I have a pandas dataframe which I convert into an html table via df.to_html(). I then add the DataTables class to the table. This DataTables-table has the following columns:
ID | X | Y | Val |...More columns...| Selection_Criteria |...More columns...
The values in Selection_Criteria can be either 1 or 0. I know that with:
$('#ProductList').DataTable( {
...
"fnInitComplete": function(oSettings, json) { $('#ProductList tbody tr:eq(0)').click(); }
});
(Source: http://code.datatables.net/forums/discussion/38171/automatic-select-of-the-first-row-on-reload)
..it is theoretically possible to select the first row. (In reality, I have not been able to simulate a click for the first row.)
But my question goes more towards: How do I automatically pre-select ALL rows where the value is 1 in Selection_Criteria? What is the best approach? Should this be done client/server side?
In pandas the term "select"(ing) means to screen out that which was not selected for. I know that in a table on a web page, selected can mean being highlighted to stand out from the others. There are a couple of ways you can do this on the server side. You could display two tables, one for each state of Selection_Criteria. This would save you the hassle of trying to select individual rows out of a table in the first place (which would be done with Javascript, not Pandas). While pandas has the ability to add a class to the resulting html, the class is applied to the element.
If you are using jquery you are going to use these pieces. as you haven't put example data I can't be exact.
replace x in the next line with the number of columns the Selection_Criteria=1 is across the table
$( "tr td:nth-child(x):contains('1')" ).addClass('selected');
There are solutions on the backend using beautifulsoup and css selectors, or lxml.etree with xpath selectors. But jquery is going to be the most concise with this problem.
#Aliester. Thank you for the pointer!
This helped me find the solution to my own question. What I did:
1.) Identify row index that I want to select when the table loads.
2.) Pass the index to js.
3.) Loop over the indices and apply the following command to each index entry:
table.row(':eq('+hit_index_row+')').select();
So I am using the API to select each individual row. This works for me and hopefully could be helpful to others as well. It may be a bit hacky, so more elegant suggestions are welcome!
You can do this by providing a function for the "rowCallback" option when initializing the DataTable. https://datatables.net/reference/option/rowCallback
Also it is generally better to use the API methods to select rows instead of just changing the class. I found that the DataTable + Select libraries keep an internal collection of selected row indexes (just current page if serverside processing is on) instead of using the class to resolve selected items.
So while the display will look right, if you just change the class, if you rely on any of the API methods to get selected items later on there will be issues. Additionally just changing the class on the row will not fire any of the "select" events on the table so you can't rely on those either.

QTP - Checking dynamic pages

I'm trying to check if a value is contained in the innertext of a webelement but I'm having a little problem: frames seem to change at every refresh of the pages.
These are the steps I've recorded:
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_header").Image("Gestione Anagrafiche").Click<br>
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl").WebEdit("pdrBean.pdrPod").Set parameter("POD")<br>
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl").WebButton("Cerca").Click
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl_2").Image("show_files").Click
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl_6").Image("Lente").Click
cctype = Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl_7").WebElement("arrow_down").GetROProperty("innertext")<br>
DataAct = Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_appl_7").WebElement("arrow_down_2").GetROProperty("innertext")<br>
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("dme2_header").Image("Gestione Anagrafiche").Click
The frames "dme2_appl6" and "dme2_appl7" changes at every refresh of the two pages.
The question is simple: how can I rewrite these two actions to make them universal?
I've tried to do something like:
Set objFrame = Frame("title:=dme2_appl_.")
and then
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").objFrame.Image("Lente").Click
But QTP gives me an error in return: "property or method not supported by the object"
Please try using the below code
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Image("Lente").Click
Avoid using the "Frame" and if you really want to use it, put regex for name property of Frame.
Go to Object Properties--> Click on the Frame object --> Mandatory Properties--> Change name property as
like iFrame_213123123 to i.*
Hope this will solve your problem.
I don't think you can use a frame object that way. When you write Page().Frame() UFT sets the frame's parent in different way than if you first create the Frame.
Think of Frame() as a function that behaves differently when called on a Page or as a free function.
Try:
Browser("SystemPage").Page("SystemP").Frame("title:=dme2_appl_.")

How do I set value of DateTextBox?

So basically I have these two DateTextBoxes and I want to copy the value from one to another? Sounds easy, right? Still, it is not...
I tried to do it this way:
dojo.byId("datetextbox1").value = dojo.byId("datetextbox2").value;
it actually looks like the value changes as the content of the field changes, but it doesn't really. When I inspect the element with firefox it still contains the old value in the code and when I try to submit the form, the old value is sent!
So my question is: how should I change that damn value?
You'll want to set the value on the widget and not directly on the node.
dijit.byId("datetextbox1").set('value', dijit.byId("datetextbox2").get('value'));
dijit.byId grabs widgets, dojo.byId grabs dom nodes

comparing sorted or removed rows in dojox.grid.EnhancedGrid to dojo.data.ItemFileWriteStore

I've scoured the dojo documentation, stack overflow, as well as thoroughly explored the EnhancedGrid object itself with firebug, and I'm not finding answers.
I have an enhanced grid that I populate with values for the user to sort on and basically create a selection set (using indirectSelection plugin). They then have a button to zoom to the selected items on a map.
The problem is, when sorting columns, it doesn't change the order of the items in the store itself, where I'm keeping an object inside each item that tells me how to zoom on the map, so I have no way to reconcile the grid.selection.selected array indices with the store._arrayOfAllItems indices.
edit: Note that I'm stuck using Dojo 1.6 as it's baked into the API I'm using.
Have a look at Dojo Object Store Tutorial.
You can set an idProperty to a Store, e.g.:
var employeeStore = new dojo.store.Memory({data:employees, idProperty: "name"});
Then you can operate the store with that id property using the get method like this:
// add a new employee
employeeStore.add({name:"George", department:"accounting"});
// remove Bill
employeeStore.remove("Bill");
// retrieve object with the name "Jim"
var jim = employeeStore.get("Jim");
Instead of using store._arrayOfAllItems. That way your grid.selection object will contain your id's values instead of array indexes (provided that your grid's store property is your store). This is the part that I'm guessing will work because I know for sure that the new dojo's dgrid does it that way, which I encourage you to use it BTW.
Hope it helps,
