Suppose I have a PDF page (generated by say PDFLaTeX) that is accessed like a web page would. Is it possible to put a tracking code on it (for usage analytics) in a way similar to an HTML page?
Try this: https://github.com/igrigorik/ga-beacon
It can work where javascript doesn't such as emails, stackoverflow answers or github.

I need to display uploaded scans (JPG, PNG, TIFF, PDF, etc.) in the browser's window instead downloading them to a local pc and using external apps like Acrobat Reader.
I made some research in the web on that issue but wasn't really successful.
Does anyone have hints, code snippets, how to achieve that ?
EDIT :
Since I am not looking for a solution which supports viewing scans in a typical browser like Chrome, FireFox, etc. but supports viewing scans in an XPage view within Notes I need to ask my question again.
What is the best (recommended) way to view different types of scans, uploaded as PDF, JPG, TIFF, PNG, etc., in Notes within an XPage view ?
Take a look here, XPages: Embed PDF and possibly Office files
Here is some code that I have in an app for PDF's.
I tried using Bumpbox, and pdf.js and while I could get them working, iframes seemed to work best for me with using normal Domino attachment urls in xpages
I am not sure if this solution is right or not, but it works well for an app I have that only has PDFs. It does work on mobile too, at least on iOS.
<iframe
src="#{javascript:
var url = 'https://app.nsf/';
var doc = sessionScope.docID;
var atname = #RightBack(sessionScope.aname,'Body');
var end = '/$file'+atname;
return url+doc+end}"
width="800" height="1000">
</iframe>
If you are looking at using different file types you need to use a renderer, give it the attachment URL, and then display what the renderer returns with. I haven't looked at this in a while so things might have changed. Look for a lightbox clone that can display pdf. I think Orangebox was one, bumpbox looks to not be updated but I was able to get that working for me.
This method will display everything inline. I would love to see some type of renderer like pdf.js for xpages.
I am working on an application which will have an option for users to upload images. Once uploaded, the application will show other images from the web which look exactly similar, whether or not of the same size.
For this, I will create a temporary URL for the image so that I could provide Google custom search API the URL of the image. I would expect in response, URL's of images that are exactly the same or similar to it, perhaps in JSON format.
I did find a similar question posted in January. Till then Google did not support anything like this, apparently:
Google Javascript Custom Search API: Search images by image url
One can also simply do:
http://images.google.com/searchbyimage?site=search&image_url={Image URL}
Since that is not part of an official API, it may not be right to use this method.
Can someone help me?
Well, the answer quite simply is TinEye Commercial API https://api.tineye.com/welcome. I was looking in the wrong place I guess, I did not have any luck with Google Custom Search API.
Would you need a simple result?
If you are, you can use Vision API of Google.
This is very simple.
https://cloud.google.com/vision/
You can try on the top.
First, access the URL.
Second, upload your image file on the "Try API"
Third, click "JSON" tab menu on the result.
You can be seen JSON about similar images.
Is there any alternative way to view PDF files on the web instead of using Acrobat Reader? I need to control the viewer to programmatically trigger the printing of the document.
The source of the PDF should come from a webservice URL / AspX
The easiest I would think is to use the Google Doc Viewer:
<iframe src="http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=**PathToMyPdfFile.pdf**&embedded=true" width="600" height="780" style="border: none;"></iframe>
You need to host your PDF files somewhere online, may be in a file in your public website ( it needs to be a public site) and put the link to the PDF file in "PathToMyPdfFile.pdf" in the iFrame above. Then set the width and height you need.
Google even generates this code for you here:
https://docs.google.com/viewer
Then simply put this iframe anywhere in the body of your page where you want to display your PDF. This also supports many other file formats too.
There are quite a few options for document views online, some open source others proprietary. Personally, I've had good experiences with Flex Paper. This will allow you to include the document view on your website, and there are some developer resources which will allow you to integrate it with the functionality you're looking for.
For demos, see here: http://flexpaper.devaldi.com/demo/
You can use FoxIT PDF viewer. It's free and programmable.
Given that coldfusion is server side and javascript is clientside, is there anyway to convert a google map to a pdf using coldfusion?
Why don't you try static google map to embed map in pdf. Static map generate image file which will easily added thorough cfdocument. I haven't tried but it should work...
For more detail see

I suggest wkhtmltopdf. You give it a --javascript-delay of something like 800ms, and you're good to go.
wkthmltopdf is a command line app that runs on a variety of OSes.
This is what I would do:
Create a page that correctly loads the map that you want to convert to a pdf.
Use the cfdocument tag to create the pdf. Something like this: <cfdocument format="pdf" src="[url to your page]" ... />
Be sure to test thoroughly. cfdocument isn't known for it's ability to properly handle CSS.
NOTE: Be sure to check Google's terms of service before you do this.
I need to create a screenshot of the page by providing a page URL to the command line tool. I found the following application: Convert HTML To Image. This tool is OK but want a more flexible application. I need to have ability to perform the following:
Go to the following page.
Click button.
Take a screenshot and save it.
I want to create an application that will test a site by going by URL, take a shots, and then send the images to the email.
Does anybody has an experience in solving such problems?
Watin can capture screenshots:
ie.CaptureWebPageToFile("c:\tmp\watin main page.jpg");

I am a contributor to the WatiN project and the author of the WatiN Test Recorder. To do what you want, I'd suggest using something like csExWB2 (http://code.google.com/p/csexwb2/). The demo will give you the basic browser, and you can add screen shots where you like. Emailing is not covered, but that should be fairly easy.
I know this is very old post but i want to leave a message for visitor of this post.
PhantomJS is one option (http://www.phantomjs.org).
According to the WatiN features page:
Supports creating screenshots of webpages
I would direct you to more specifical documentation, but the documentation web doesn't work well with Firefox, so I can't search it.
