Rewrite rules with query strings for subdomains with rootdomain - apache

I'm not expert in .htaccess. I want to rewrite my news and blog url (with or without www) as:
bdnews24.com/reporter.php?u=Name
to-> bdnews24.com/Name
m.bdnews24.com/reporter.php?u=Name
to-> m.bdnews24.com/Name
img.bdnews24.com/image.php?id=791011.jpg
to-> img.bdnews24.com/791011.jpg
bdnews24.com/details.php?id=100200300
to-> bdnews24.com/100200300
My current .htaccess file is below, which is not working as I want it.
This catches all request URI and if not exist it will go to index.php?u=ANYTHING
Options +FollowSymlinks
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
# AlegroCart REWRITES START
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*) index.php/$1 [L,QSA]

This set of rules should do what you want, based on the information you've provided:
RewriteCond {%QUERY_STRING} ^u=(.*)
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(m.|www.)?bdnews.com$
RewriteRule ^reporter.php /%1?
RewriteCond {%QUERY_STRING} ^id=(.*)
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^img.bdnews.com$
RewriteRule ^image.php /%1?
RewriteCond {%QUERY_STRING} ^id=(.*)
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(m.|www.)?bdnews.com$
RewriteRule ^details.php /%1?
First it matches the query string, then the host name(s), then rewrites the original query string (%1) into the new URL.

Issue redirecting query string to path

I want to redirect a get query parameter to a path and maintain the ability to use the GET parameter in the code.
I struggle to find examples excluding the file extension so perhaps this is what is throwing me.
I have tried the below code but not getting expected results from it?
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/spares/$
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} pid=([0-9]*)$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /spares/%1 [R=302,L]
For example:
mysite.com/spares/?pid=x
to
mysite.com/spares/x
EDIT:
Copy of .htaccess in /dev/ subdirectory.
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /dev/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /dev/index.php [L]
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
# To externally redirect with pid
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s+spares/\?pid=(.*)\s [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /spares/%1 [R=301,L,NE]
# To internally rewrite to ?pid=
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} pid=(.+)$
RewriteRule ^dev/spares/$ /dev/spares/?pid=%1 [NC,L]
# END WordPress
Try with:
RewriteEngine On
# To externally redirect with pid
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s/+spares/\?pid=(.*)\s [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /spares/%1 [R=301,L,NE]
# To internally rewrite to ?pid=
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} pid=(.+)$
RewriteRule ^spares/$ /spares/?pid=%1 [NC,L]

htaccess redirecting all urls except one to a different domain not working

I'm trying to redirect all urls except http://shop.mysite.com/enquiry/ to a different domain like below but it's redirecting everything to "example.com", including the "enquiry" page.
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/enquiry/
RewriteRule .* https://www.example.com [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.html !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.php !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php
</IfModule>
So how do I make sure "enquiry" isn't redirected?
Your final RewriteRule for index.php is probably causing an additional redirect to occur in the PHP script.
You could try moving the redirect below this rule:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.html !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.php !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/enquiry/?
RewriteRule .* https://www.example.com [R=301,L]
</IfModule>
In addition, you will need to add some more rewrite conditions to exclude referenced scripts/stylesheets from being redirected too.
For a negative condition, you should THE_REQUEST variable instead of REQUEST_URI:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} !/enquiry[?\s/] [NC]
RewriteRule ^ https://www.example.com [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.html !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.php !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
</IfModule>
THE_REQUEST variable represents original request received by Apache from your browser and it doesn't get overwritten after execution of some rewrite rules. Example value of this variable is GET /index.php?id=123 HTTP/1.1
Make sure to clear your browser cache or use a new browser when testing.

how to fix htaccess error with multiple rewrite rule - ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

why this htaccess has error. it says "to many redirect" please help thanks
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule .* index.php [L]
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%1/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteEngine on
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^.*/index\.php
RewriteRule ^(.*)index.php$ http://us.domain.com/ae_en/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^us\.domain\.com$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(ae_en|ae_ar) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)/ae_en/%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
I cannot try the wrong code, it always appear error
There are several issues with your .htaccess. I would suggest both re-ordering and editing the rules.
This would be a better approach, in my opinion. I'll explain the parts below.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
Options +FollowSymLinks
# External redirect: Remove www from domain
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%1/$1 [R=301,L]
# External redirect: Ensure language code is set
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^us\.domain\.com$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(ae_en|ae_ar) [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/index.php$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /ae_en/$1 [R=301,L]
# Internal redirect: Pass everything non-existent to index.php
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule .* index.php [L]
Structure
First, general options and settings should come at the top and only once, i.e.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
Options +FollowSymLinks
Second, I like to get the external URL to show up correctly, so I group all external redirects here - denoted with comments in the above code block.
Third, internal "redirects" follow, meaning mapping the (now correct and final) external URL to the correct scripts.
This structure ensures that the internal scripts are only matched on a URL that will not change when re-run against the .htaccess on the next RewriteRule match.
Omitting external redirect for index.php
I guess you added the index.php redirection handling after adding in the internal redirect, which probably has caused index.php to show up in the browser. So, with the above structure in place, I assume it will not show up again.
Error in last RewriteRule
As Mike Rockett pointed out in the comment above, there also was an error in the last RewriteRule.
Avoid redirect loop
To avoid a redirect loop when rewriting to index.php with the last rule, you have to explicitly exclude index.php from language code redirection, i.e.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/index.php [NC]

Treat particular folder as actual folder not as controller CodeIgniter

I want to make a particular folder to be treated as an actual one, not as a controller in codeigniter and also want to redirect my all domain.com requests to www.domain.com. I have the following htaccess code:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond $1 !^(FOLDER_TO_BE_EXCLUDED)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
# Redirect non-www to www:
#RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
#RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L]
# Rewrite all other URLs to index.php/URL
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [PT,L]
</IfModule>
<IfModule !mod_rewrite.c>
ErrorDocument 404 index.php
</IfModule>
If I uncomment the lines (Redirect non-www to www), all requests are treated as controller
so the folder (FOLDER_TO_BE_EXCLUDED) is also treated as controller. I want to access this folder as an actual one.
If I will not redirect non-www to www I cant access session variables on inner pages.
Hope you will understand.
RewriteCond only apply to the RewriteRule which follows: your rules (commented now) were incorrect.
Besides, IMO, the simplest way to define exceptions like this one, is to use a non-rewriting rule like: RewriteRule ^FOLDER_TO_BE_EXCLUDED/ - [L] (on "top" of rewrite rules)
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect non-www to www:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteRule .* http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$0 [R=permanent,L]
RewriteRule ^FOLDER_TO_BE_EXCLUDED/ - [L]
# Rewrite all other URLs to index.php/URL
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule .* index.php?url=$0 [PT,L]
Try adding a RewriteCond to your last RewriteRule:
RewriteCond $1 !^(folder_name/)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [PT,L]
This should stop it redirecting www.yourdomain.com/folder_name to the index.php.
You can add more folders to the condition using the | character:
RewriteCond $1 !^(folder_name/|another_folder/)

.htaccess - is rewriting one part of the url

Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch
IndexIgnore */*
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mysite.com$ [nc]
Rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [r=301,nc,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule . url_handle.php
What I am trying to do is have a www rewrite rule so that urls without www. redirect to the same url with www. prefix. I am also using clean URL's, so any unknown URL is sent to url_handle.php for processing.
The problem is that if I have a url like "http://mysite.com/part_1/part_2/part_3", the URL is redirected and then reads "http://www.mysite.com/url_handle.php/part_2/part_3", ommitting the "part_1" and replacing it with "url_handle.php".
Firstly, to redirect non-www sites to www use this:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.mysite\.com [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^$
RewriteRule ^/?(.*) http://www.mysite.com/$1 [L,R,NE]
It means, if the url is not "www.mysite.com" and if not blank redirect to "www.mysite.com"
Secondly, to redirect unknown sites to a specific page use this:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/url_handle.php [R=301,L]
The last row will save you :)
