I am new to plugin development and I am writing/ extending a Eclipse plugin. I have initially text file which contains the reults of a code review with the following data.
**line_from=70=** **line_to=80=** **date=2012/11/20 10:32:54=** **reviewer=ccc=** **responsible=xx=** **revision_nr=1.40=** **offset=1458=** **length=344=**
Based on some condition, I say that line number 70 to 80 is same as 100 to 110. Now I want to add a Marker and highlight the lines from 100-110, but I dont have the offset for this location. Can somebody tell me how to get the offset from the line numbers.
Thanks
I think it's too late to answer you, but
maybe I can help anyone else with the same problem.
To solve this, you can use the IDocument Interface.
IDocument document = (IDocument) MyPlugin.getEditor().getDocumentProvider().getDocument(MyPlugin.getEditor().getEditorInput());
So the document will load the file that was opened in the editor.
You just need to use the getLineOffset() method, that returns the offset of the line.

I'm not very used to Active Reports and I got an old software using those. The software provide some kind of stripped version of Active Reports Designer 7.
I got a PageFooter section with some fields and I want to remove one to display it only when it's the last page.
Basically, what I want to do is this in scripts :
if (this.PageNumber == this.PageCount) {
Field.Visible = true;
}
I only find one post here that say this.PageNumber should work, but it dosent.
So I tried to use the ReportInfo using the FormatString as {PageNumber}, but I don't seems to be able to read the value using this.ReportInfo.Value or this.ReportInfo.Text
I also tried to make a TextBox, using SummaryType : PageCount. But I'm still unable to read the Value.
So the question is :
How can I know the Page Number and Page Count in the script section?
Or how can I read the value of those textbox I created ?
Thanks a lot!
I think these docs cover what you are looking for:

I have some cell texts in a BIRT report which do not flow as nicely as I hoped.
For example,
The text is Long value resultwithaverylongname whichcannotbreak and I had hoped that it would be displayed like this:
Long value
resultwithaverylongname
whichcannotbreak
The render options are as follows:
renderOptions.setOutputFormat(IPDFRenderOption.OUTPUT_FORMAT_PDF);
renderOptions.setOption(IPDFRenderOption.PAGE_OVERFLOW, IPDFRenderOption.OUTPUT_TO_MULTIPLE_PAGES);
renderOptions.setOption(IPDFRenderOption.PDF_TEXT_WRAPPING, true);
renderOptions.setOption(IPDFRenderOption.PDF_WORDBREAK, true);
It seems to me that my desired output is physically possible but I don't know why BIRT does not break on a whitespace and breaks in the middle of the word.
I am using BIRT 4.16 (from Sourceforge). The texts contain normal whitespace (no non-breakable spaces) and are displayed via a data object.
3.Sep.21
I now have an example project which I am trying to commit to Github. In the meantime here is a screenshot showing breaks which look good and others which are not...
The git repo is here: https://github.com/pramsden/test.wordbreak
If the text "resultwithaverylongname" physically fits, then you are right:
BIRT should not break it in the middle of the word.
Your renderOptions seem right (depending of what BIRT version you are using).
At first glance this looks like a bug.
But: In German language, we often have quite long words, and I've created a lot of (complex) PDF reports with BIRT, but I never saw this issue.
So I guess it is a tiny silly detail which causes this.
Just to double-check:
Are the spaces between "Long", "value", "result..." normal spaces (0x20)? or non-breaking spaces?
Which BIRT release are you using?
Are you using a data item or a dynamic text item and if so, is it HTML or plain text?
Can you create a reproducible simple test case and post the rptdesign file somewhere?
well i don use BIRT , but try to use (\n),
in my case I use PDFFlow library to generate pdf docs, and to make a line-break i just use \n
this is a simple example code to create a pdf file and use line break
var DocumentBuilder.New()
.AddSection()
.AddParagraphToSection("Hello world! \n go to the next line")
.ToDocument()
.Build("Result.PDF");
try it and tell me if it works
How do you Edit a (binary EBCDIC) Mainframe file in the RecordEditor with out a Cobol Copybook.
How do you generate Java code to read the file using the RecordEditor.
Note: This is an attempt to split a question that is far to broad to give meaningful answer to
into a series of simpler Question and Answer's.
Try and avoid editing a binary file with a Cobol Copybook if at all possible. This should only be attempted as a last resort !!!.
Try and get
that Cobol copybook (or some field layout document) for the file !!!
Some general advise:
It is feasible when dealing with 10 / 20 fields in a record but not if there a thousands of fields in a Record.
Take your time do not rush the process. Try and get each step correct before moving on
Finally upgrade to the latest version of the RecordEditor (currently 0.98.4)
This process will also work for normal Text file as well
RecordEditor Layout Wizard
To start the wizard select option Record Layouts >>> Layout Wizard.
File Structure screen
The file structure screen has 3 purposes:
Get the File structure - It could be Fixed Width, VB, Windows/Unix Text file
Get the Record-Length (if it is a fixed width file).
Get the font (character-set / encoding)
The RecordEditor will try and work this out for you
Field Selection Screen
The RecordEditor will try and work out where fields start and end but
it is not perfect. You need to carefully check and correct its choices
On this screen, the fields are displayed in alternating colors
you create/delete a field by clicking on
use the Clear Fields button clear all the fields
you can change what field-types to search for using the various check box's (e.g. Mainframe Zones Decimal)
The Add Fields will do another field search
Field Definition screen
On this screen you define the field names and Types. You may need to go back to the **Field Selection Screen* to adjust the fields
Editing the file
Once the Record Layout has been defined, it can be used on the open file screen
Generating Java code
When editing your file, you can generate java~JRecord code to read the file
by selecting Generate >>> Java >>> ....
You can the enter a package-id + generate options:
and finally your sample java code is generated to read / write the
file.
I have a little problem about my .ini file. I am using LabVIEW to pilot a Power Supply GPD-2303. And I have to configure the Voltage and the Current searched for each cards. These datas are in a Database but I have only a read access on it.
Voltage, Name, AlphaNumCode... Are not a problem because it will probably never change so my code is looking like:
[AlphaNumCode]
VSET_1=VALUE
VSET_2=VALUE
CSET_1=VALUE
CSET_2=VALUE
Assembly_PN=VALUE
That's to set Voltage, Current at the start of the execution on LabVIEW and give an Assembly PN "IF KQG then AssemblyPN= 1633".
That's the situation. The problem is there:
[Assembly PN]
CURRENT1_PROG_SEARCHED=VALUE
CURRENT2_PROG_SEARCHED=VALUE
CURRENT1_BLANK_SEARCHED=VALUE
CURRENT2_BLANK_SEARCHED=VALUE
I want to transform it, because if this value is not a fix value. I am looking for Something like:
[Assembly PN]
CURRENT1_PROG_SEARCHED="VALUE IN COLON W, LINE X"
CURRENT1_PROG_SEARCHED="VALUE IN COLON W, LINE X"
CURRENT2_PROG_SEARCHED="VALUE IN COLON X, LINE X"
CURRENT1_BLANK_SEARCHED="VALUE IN COLON Y, LINE X"
CURRENT2_BLANK_SEARCHED="VALUE IN COLON Z, LINE X"
I have found: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/149090
But it show how to interact with the colon but not with a specific case. Is there a command?
That's the last thing I have to do in my Internship to end this project and I do not like let things unfinished.
Hope someone can help me or give me documents to learn how to do it, it will be great :)
Edit:
Yes, this article show how to access data by a text file, and the text file is linked to the data in the database, I was thinking that could work.
I am clearly new about database so I am sorry about the lack of knowledge I will try to do my best, but using SQL server and System DSN to Access it in LabVIEW.
The ini File is read in a LabVIEW Program
By"COLON" I mean "COLUMN
Edit:
I send you my Sub VI and a picture of my code, that's what I want. still having 2 days to end it so I hope you can read me guys!
[1630]LINE=WHERE (OC=1630);
[1631]LINE=WHERE (OC=1631);
[1632]LINE=WHERE (OC=1632);
[1633]LINE=WHERE (OC=1633);
[1635]LINE=WHERE (OC=1635);
LabVIEW Picture of the Sub VI 25/07/16 using DB Select Tool Kit
Best regards,
Robin.
I have found a solution, in fact I am using a .ini file to send a condition:
Just to know: (OC = Assembly Number)
In my .ini I have:
[1633]
OC=WHERE(OC=1633);
Then I send it to the condition in DB Select Tool Kit and I enter the column / table where is the data I am looking for.
Then if a new card need to be test they just need to make a new line in the .ini file:
[XXXX]
OC=WHERE(OC=XXXX);
Thanks for your help that problem is resolve, I hope it can help someone that want to make communication between LabVIEW / .ini / Database
Best regards,
Robin
In version 18 of TextControl (http://www.textcontrol.com) there is supposed to be the ability to add background images/watermarks to the document, however I find that the behavior of the various overloads, etc is not working correctly and that the documentation is rather scarce on examples. Does any one have a working example of adding watermarks to a Word document through the ServerTextControl object?
This functionality didn't exist in previous versions, so I recognize it's still rather new, I just find it weird that doing something like
tx.Images.Add(draftImage, pageNumber, location, ImageInsertionMode.BelowTheText);
doesn't actually add the images to the document, but if I use another overload beforehand, it adds both?
I just need a loop along the lines of
foreach (TXTextControl.Page page in pages){
page.Select();
var location = tx.InputPosition.Location;
var pageNumber = page.Number;
tx.Images.Add(draftImage, pageNumber, location, ImageInsertionMode.BelowTheText);
}
where location is supposed to be the beginning of the page.
Any help would be appreciated, this should be simple!
Thank you
Finally got a response to this on their forum, it's not a complete solution, but it works for the most part. Figured I would follow up here, so that anyone who ends up on this page would get the help I wanted.
